Abstract

Early marriage is one form of marginalization in which women have to go through various forms of communication dominance in the process of making the decision to get married. This brings many problems in the decision-making process within the household. Therefore, the aim of this research is to understand how the communication process of decision-making occurs, both before deciding to get married and during the marriage itself. Three interviewees with different marriage backgrounds will be interviewed to observe how the communication process in decision-making unfolds. The research will be conducted using Labov's narrative analysis method.The results of this study indicate that women's early marriage decisions are caused by manipulation in the form of continuous pressure to get married and threats of ending the relationship, which can change their minds. Manipulative actions also result in women willingly altering the narrative about men in front of their parents to gain their approval. After marriage, it was found that women's involvement in household decision-making is limited due to manipulation by husbands through narratives of masculinity. Furthermore, women's early marriage decisions are influenced by feelings of guilt for violating societal norms, such as unwanted pregnancies. As a result, the improper position leads to double marginalization and a lack of involvement in household decision-making after marriage. Another factor contributing to women's early marriage decisions is fulfilling their parents' wishes by entering arranged marriages, where the interests of the parents appear more important. However, after marriage, women can fully participate in household decision-making, including financial decisions, parenting styles, and reproduction, as the positions of husband and wife are equal, and there is no fixed division of roles for either spouse.

Abstract

The livestock sector is proven to produce methane gas which contributes as much as sixteen percent of the total causes of climate change. One way to prevent further climate change is to follow a plant-based consumption pattern, but only less than one percent of Indonesia's population follows this consumption pattern. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Fear-arousal on climate change information and educational of '21 Hari Vegan' on the interest in living a vegetarian lifestyle in DKI Jakarta with explanatory research and survey methods. Most of the respondents who took part in this study considered the threat of climate change spread in the media to be quite worrying, the '21 Hari Vegan' education on the official website and Instagram account was quite educational, and had very high interest in living a vegetarian lifestyle. The findings on testing each of the independent variables on the interest in the vegetarian lifestyle stated effectiveness with a low value, this indicated that the two independent variables were weak instruments for encouraging interest in the vegetarian lifestyle.

Abstract

Brand image is an important aspect in a company, especially in an airline company that is currently in the Post-Crisis period. Post-crisis situation in a company can affect the company's brand image. Garuda Indonesia Airways is an airline company that has experienced a financial crisis from 2019 to 2021. After going through the crisis, Garuda Indonesia Airways is in a post-crisis state which is assumed to affect risk perceptions and people's perceptions of quality towards Garuda Indonesia Airways. That is caused by information about the financial crisis has spread among the public. Efforts made by Garuda Indonesia Airways are to convey positive information consistently regarding services and corporate image through social media. The research findings were analyzed using the Pearson Product Moment correlation to 50 respondents showing the Perception of Risk with the Brand Image of Garuda Indonesia Airways has a significance value of -0.311 which means the relationship is not unidirectional and weak. In other words, the more negative the perception of risk felt by the respondents, the more positive the Post-Crisis Garuda Indonesia Airways Brand Image will be. Perceived Quality with Garuda Indonesia Airways Brand Image has a significance value of 0.369 which means a unidirectional and weak relationship. In other words, the more positive the quality perception felt by consumers, the more positive the Post-Crisis Brand Image of Garuda Indonesia Airways will be. From the research findings, it is suggested that reducing a Perceived Risk must fix things related to Safety and Timeliness Risks and Perceived quality can be improved by increasing the quality of good service to improve the image of airlines damaged by the crisis.

Abstract

Kebijakan subsidi tepat sasaran MyPertamina menuai kontra dari berbagai kalangan masyarakat. Media memiliki peran penting dalam menyusun agenda publik terkait kebijakan pemerintah. Namun dalam pelaksanaannya, media seringkali mengabaikan kewajibannya untuk menyampaikan informasi secara faktual dan berimbang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sikap media khususnya Detik.com terhadap kebijakan subsidi tepat sasaran MyPertamina menggunakan teori agenda setting beserta teori pendukung lainnya dengan metode analisis isi kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa pemberitaan Detik.com didominasi topik kritik kebijakan dan nada negati, hal ini menunjukkan bahwa sikap Detik.com dalam memberitakan kebijakan subsidi tepat sasaran MyPertamina cenderung bersifat negatif atau tidak pro terhadap kebijakan. Berdasarkan teknik penulisan, hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa Detik.com cenderung menyajikan berita kebijakan MyPertamina dengan format straight news, hal ini mengindikasikan bahwa Detik.com menganggap kebijakan tepat sasaran MyPertamina merupakan isu penting dan harus segera diketahui oleh masyarakat. Dari segi objektivitas pemberitaan kebijakan subsidi tepat sasaran MyPertamina di Detik.com sudah cukup baik. Detik.com cenderung menyajikan berita tanpa pencampuran fakta dan opini, judul dan isi berita cenderung sesuai dan tidak memuat unsur dramatisasi. Namun, keberimbangan Detik.com dalam menampilkan cover both side masih perlu ditingkatkan lagi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, maka saran yang dapat peneliti berikan kepada Pertamina sebagai pembuat kebijakan harus responsif terhadap masukan maupun kritikan terkait kebijakan subsidi tepat sasaran MyPertamina. Detik.com sebagai media yang menjalankan fungsi informasi dan pengawasan diharapkan untuk dapat terus mempertahankan objektivitas pemberitaanya dan meningkatkan kualitas informasi beritanya terutama pada sisi cover both side.

Abstract

The radio industry is currently experiencing a downward trend, causing the number of radio listeners to decrease and spending on radio advertising to decrease. However, KIS Radio a Catholic-based radio in Semarang manages to get around ten advertisers a month. That's quite a lot in the midst of a sluggish radio industry. This research aims to describe how persuasive communication is used by KIS Radio in business negotiations to get advertisers, using a qualitative descriptive research method with a case study approach. In this research, the data collection technique used was interviewed, with the Miles and Huberman Model data analysis technique. The theories used in this research are the Motivated Sequence theory and Lawrence Kincaid's negotiation communication model. The research results show that the Radio KIS marketing team carries out persuasive communication to potential advertisers using the Motivated Sequence theory by focusing on satisfaction, where in this step the marketing team tries to provide satisfactory solutions, fulfill the needs and solve the problems of potential advertisers. The application of this Motivated Sequence makes KIS Radio's persuasive marketing messages more argumentative and more convincing for potential advertisers to advertise on KIS Radio. Likewise, in negotiations, the Radio KIS marketing team uses Lawrence Kincaid's communication model, where Radio KIS marketing attempts to persuade potential advertisers and also tries to understand the desires and needs of potential advertisers, and also provides various alternative solutions that are tailored to the needs and business situations experienced by the candidate. advertisers, so that both parties can reach a mutual agreement which is the goal of business negotiations, so that the interests of both parties can be fulfilled.

Abstract

Communication is an important thing that must work well and be as effective as possible in organizations, including the Ikatan Mahasiswa Berprestasi (IMAPRES) Wonogiri. This research was motivated by the participation of IMAPRES members who were not optimal, where most members had to be evaluated because of the lack of innovation that occurred. This study aims to determine communication barriers that occur in the IMAPRES organization and to find out the steps taken by the IMAPRES organization in solving communication barriers, using a qualitative descriptive study type method. This study uses a positivistic paradigm with the data collection technique used is in-depth interviews. The theory used in this study is organizational information theory and neoclassical or human relations theory. The results of this study indicate that the IMAPRES Wonogiri has various kinds of communication barriers due to the distance factor, starting from physical distance, social distance, and psychological distance that occurs among members of the Wonogiri IMAPRES. Communication barriers that occur such as ineffectiveness of members in utilizing existing communication media, separation of members based on campus area, existence of friendship circles based on place of education and views of administrators, jealousy over positions, differences in work pressure, unequal perceptions of high idealism, and personal problems brought into the organization. This study also found that the level of participation of IMAPRES members tends to be maximal in the form of time and material contributions, while contributions in the form of energy and thoughts are still minimal. Then there have been efforts made by IMAPRES Wonogiri in resolving communication barriers that occurred including by personally confirming, creating a Google form link, requiring oncam in online forums, holding reshuffles, holding evaluation forums, and providing mediators.

Abstract

The Ministry of Social Affairs applies PKH assistance to recipient communities to prevent misuse of assistance for consumptive purposes. The aim of this program is to improve the standard of living and quality of human resources in the form of changes in mindset, behavior and prosperous graduation. This research aims to examine the relationship between the effectiveness of FDS assistance and media use on the level of KPM participation with Cybernetic Theory and the Knowledge-Attitude-Behavior Model which are based on quantitative analysis. Also used is probability sampling with cluster random sampling techniques via Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Simple Linear Regression. The total sample of 85 KPM will still be active until 2024, in Ngraji Village, Grobogan. The first hypothesis in this research is that there is a relationship between the effectiveness of FDS assistance (X1) and the level of KPM participation (Y), the results show that there is no linear relationship between the two variables. The essence of assistance does not work according to the initial goal, the mentor is too dominant as an information resource so it is necessary to reconsider the approach to a good relationship with respondents. The second research hypothesis examines that there is a relationship between the effectiveness of media use (X2) and the level of KPM participation (Y), the results show that there is a linear relationship. However, the effectiveness only reached 11.4%, due to the physical limitations of the module and flipchart. Therefore, it is necessary to consider increasing the physical media duplication budget. The third hypothesis is that there is a relationship between the effectiveness of FDS assistance (X1) and media use (X2) and the level of KPM participation (Y). Based on these results, no conclusion can be drawn from the third hypothesis, because the results of the two hypotheses are inversely proportional and if the first hypothesis is continued the effectiveness value is less than 1%. Thus, continuous assistance with the media is not fully implemented and still requires the respondent's determination to be actively involved in making PKH a success

Abstract

Family ideally provides a sense of security and comfort for individuals, yet not all individuals can freely share personal matters with their families. This study aims to examine the relationship between authoritative parenting styles, long-distance parent-child communication intensity, and the self-disclosure of Out-of-Town students. The theoretical frameworks utilized include John Bowlby's Attachment Theory and Social Exchange Theory. The research involved 60 respondents who are active students at Diponegoro University, originating from outside Semarang and living independently far from their families. Hypothesis testing using Kendall Tau analysis indicated a positive correlation between authoritative parenting styles, long-distance parent-child communication intensity, and Out-of-Town students' openness towards their families. This reveals that the more authoritative the parenting style, the greater the willingness of Out-of-Town students to share personal matters with their families. This aligns with Attachment Theory, which assumes that responsiveness and warmth in parenting tend to foster secure attachment relationships in children, thereby encouraging openness. Additionally, the research findings suggest that higher communication intensity between parents and children during physical separation correlates with greater openness of Out-of-Town students towards their families. This corresponds with Social Exchange Theory, stating that individuals tend to maintain relationships deemed beneficial. The study underscores the importance of consistent and meaningful communication between parents and children in maintaining emotional closeness despite physical distance. It provides insights into how authoritative parenting and high-intensity communication can enhance Out-of-Town students' openness towards their families, thereby aiding in the maintenance of family relationships, especially in long-distance contexts

Abstract

This study examines the response of the Kebumen District Communication and Information Office (Dinas Kominfo) to media reports regarding the status of Kebumen District as the poorest district in Central Java in early 2023. The study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods and applies the Situational Crisis Communication Theory and Image Repair Theory. Data collection techniques include documentation studies and interviews. The results show that the Kebumen District Communication and Information Office conducted crisis management in three stages: pre-crisis, crisis response, and post-crisis. In the precrisis stage, the Dinas Kominfo monitored the media to identify issues and potential crises. They then wrote monitoring reports including recommendations for addressing the issues, but lacked standard operating procedures, teams, or crisis management training. Furthermore, in the crisis response stage, the Dinas Kominfo focused on dominating positive news and collaborated with local media, although they did not hold press conferences or issue press releases. In the post-crisis stage, the Dinas Kominfo sought to repair reputation by emphasizing positive news, engaging in two-way communication with the public, and organizing public events to divert attention from the poverty crisis. It was found that there were no specific indicators to evaluate the success of the crisis management conducted in the post-crisis stage. The statements made by the Dinas Kominfo regarding the situation tended to fall into the "reducing the offensiveness" category in Image Repair Theory, acknowledging mistakes and intending to reduce the negative impact of the crisis. The crisis management strategies employed were defensive, aiming to protect reputation, reduce negative impacts, and not taking further actions. Overall, although the Dinas Kominfo has made efforts to address the reputation crisis caused by media coverage, there is still room for improvement in implementing crisis management and evaluating the success of the strategies applied.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi kasus kekerasan seksual yang menimpa laki – laki masih mendapatrespon ketidakacuhan dari publik. Namun, fenomena ini dihadirkan dalam film yang diteliti, yaitu“Penyalin Cahaya”. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan bagaimana korban laki – laki direpresentasikan serta mengetahui ideologi yang terkandung. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan menggunakan paradigma kritis. Dielaborasi dengan teori standpoint dan metode analisis 5 kode pembacaan leksia RolandBarthes. Berdasarkan analisis tersebut, dihasilkan temuan berikut. Kode hermeneutikmenunjukkan Tariq sebagai korban laki - laki telah menjadi produk konstruksi maskulinitas. Kode proairetik menunjukkan tindakan Tariq tidak merasa nyaman dan tertutup saat membahaskasusnya. Kode simbolik menunjukkan ciri maskulinitas pada sikap Tariq yakni berusaha tidakmeluapkan emosinya secara verbal. Kode kultural menunjukkan laki - laki harus menuruti nilaimaskulinitas setiap waktu agar dipandang sebagai laki - laki ideal. Kode semik menunjukkan laki – laki maskulin menurut budaya patriarki hanyalah mitos belaka, terlihat pada Rama yangmemiliki penyimpangan seksual dan Tariq yang melakukan self harm, menunjukkan emosi, dantidak berani melaporkan kasusnya. Melalui 5 kode pembacaan tersebut ditemukan adanya pengaruh tekanan konstruksimaskulinitas yang dirasakan korban laki – laki, sehingga korban lebih memilih diam danmemendam kasusnya. Korban laki – laki memandang pengalaman ini sebagai tanda bahwa dirinyasudah bukan laki - laki ideal.
