Abstract

MSMEs are pivotal to Indonesia’s economy, yet many face challenges in achieving long-term sustainability, particularly in balancing economic, social, and environmental outcomes. The study specifically examines the direct effects of gender-responsive entrepreneurial orientation and fintech adoption on MSME sustainability, as well as the indirect effects moderated by triple bottom line dimensions. Primary data were collected via structured surveys from MSME owners and managers who have implemented gender-inclusive entrepreneurial practices and fintech solutions. Structural Equation Modeling using SmartPLS was employed to test both the direct and moderation relationships. The results indicate that gender-responsive entrepreneurial orientation and fintech positively influence MSME sustainable performance, with the triple bottom line moderating these effects. Notably, the social dimension of the triple bottom line amplifies the impact of gender-responsive entrepreneurial orientation, while the economic and environmental dimensions strengthen the influence of fintech adoption. These findings offer actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and MSME stakeholders by highlighting the importance of integrating gender-inclusive strategies and digital financial solutions to enhance competitiveness, social impact, and long-term sustainability.

Abstract

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), particularly in the culinary sector, play a vital role in labor absorption amid Indonesia's economic challenges, yet factors influencing this remain underexplored in Jambi City. This study aims to analyze the effects of capital access, education level, business duration, and technology utilization on labor absorption in culinary MSMEs there. It employs a quantitative survey method on a population of 14,583 registered culinary MSME actors, yielding 154 respondents via Slovin formula (5% error margin) and purposive sampling. Data from questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 27 for classical assumption tests and multiple linear regression. Results reveal that all variables simultaneously affect labor absorption significantly (F=51.811, p=0.001; R²=0.582), but partially, only education level (t=2.140, p=0.034) and technology utilization (t=-14.348, p=0.001) show significant effects. Abstract

Introduction/Main Objectives: This study aims to analyze the effect of population size, Human Development Index (HDI), access to improved sanitation, and access to safe drinking water on absolute poverty in Jambi Province. Background Problems: The relatively high level of poverty in Jambi Province is presumed to be influenced by demographic factors, the quality of human development, and limited access to basic services. Novelty: This research integrates population size, HDI, access to improved sanitation, and access to safe drinking water into a single panel data model at the regency/city level, which has not been comprehensively examined in the context of Jambi Province. Research Methods: This study uses secondary panel data of regencies/cities in Jambi Province for the period 2015–2024. The analytical method employed is panel data regression using the Random Effect Model (REM), supported by model selection tests and hypothesis testing. Finding/Results: The findings indicate that simultaneously, population size, HDI, access to improved sanitation, and access to safe drinking water significantly affect poverty. Partially, population size has no significant effect on poverty, while HDI has a negative and significant effect, improved sanitation has a negative and significant effect, and access to safe drinking water has a positive and significant effect. Conclusion: Improvements in human development quality and sanitation access can reduce poverty, while population size is not significant. The positive relationship of access to safe drinking water reflects development priorities in poorer areas, highlighting the need for integrated policies to improve human capital and ensure equitable access to basic infrastructure.
