Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential of zakat, infak, and alms (ZIA) and describe the institutional existence of the National Zakat Management Agency (popularly called BAZNAS) of Jombang Regency. To achieve this goal, the study used a qualitative field approach, expose facto, explorative, and descriptive analysis techniques Miles and Huberman. There are three points of conclusion. First, the potential of ZIA funds in Jombang is Rp. 561.943.512,- per month or Rp. 6,743,322,145,- per year. This amount comes from two agencies, namely the Regional Personnel Agency and the Ministry of Religious Jombang Regency. Potential ZIA funds can be explored further from 26 agencies and other companies in Jombang. Second, the existence of BAZNAS Jombang gets national juridical support in the form of legislation about zakat but not yet armed with Local Regulation of Zakat. Its role recently has been limited to internal coordination meetings, external consultations, unit for collecting zakat (UCZ) training, socialization of Zakat Law, and the collection of infak from Muslim government employees at the Government Office of Jombang Regency. Third, the supporting factors: (1) the normative basis of the Qur'an and the Hadith of the Prophet; (2) juridical foundation in the form of Zakat Law; (3) structural support; (4) operational fund guarantee; (5) organizational management system supported by the availability of building, space, and representative work facilities, and its human resources; (6) cooperation network with agencies and companies in accordance with the needs of ZIS fund raising program. Inhibiting factors: (1) there is no Zakat Regulation or other juridical provision for the collection of ZIS in Jombang Regency; (2) not yet available part of human resources needed according to requirement of distribution development; (3) there is no development of information media available to facilitate the communication of ZIS fund raising program; (4) not yet optimal management function and organizational management as the main strength of ZIS distribution programs. This research recommends the development of further research to be more intensive and optimal about the potential of ZIS fund, especially in BAZNAS of Jombang Regency and generally the Zakat Management Institutions (popularly called LAZ) in Jombang Regency.

Abstract

Rights of thinking, reproduction rights, and property rights are part of the study of the values of civil society. First, historically, freedom of thought is inspired by the spirit of Islamic teachings, especially the first revelation, iqra'. The influence of iqra' is directly acquired by Muslims themselves, even contributing to the intellectual development of the world. Second, reproductive rights for women have a valid reference from the Qur'an, which must be protected and preserved for future generations. Respecting and safeguarding reproductive rights are the effort to preserve family, community, country, and religion. Thirdly, in Islamic law, property rights receive serious and detailed attention as does the taxonomy of the areas of Islamic law. In the taxonomy, the right of ownership obtains a juridical portion of all fields.

Abstract

The development of communication and information technology has facilitated all human activities, including religion. New media, such as social media, has a flexible context that makes people easily believe even though they realize the level of truth is not guaranteed. This research examines the patterns and understanding of religion in millennial communities in Surabaya. This research uses McLuhan's technological determinism theory with a descriptive qualitative method. The research findings show that the religious patterns of millennial society have shifted at this time, namely religion is carried out regardless of the scientific chain. In addition, interest in religion is also based on interesting content on social media. As for the context of understanding religion through communication networks, people understand religion tends to be brief and fanatical.

Abstract

This study focuses on examining the challenges and needs for the reformulation of the da'wah and communication paradigm in the post-pandemic era. Through a qualitative approach, the results of this study show that in the post-pandemic era, da'wah requires a redefinition and reformulation of paradigms, known as the happy da'wah paradigm, namely placing happiness in the experience of the da'wah process and the practice of religious teachings, not on the purpose of da'wah. The performance of the activity system is directed to "offer" the da'wah message, not to "impose" the message. The appearance and performance of this system is packaged in an attractive, creative, innovative, supportive and affirmative communication pattern by utilizing information technology as an efficient communication medium.

Abstract

This article is a report on ethnographic research regarding the social da'wah services of four religious figures, namely Kiai Ghofur, Gus Samsudin, Gus Idris, and Ustadz Ujang Busthomi. The study focuses on analyzing the process of demythologization in the social da'wah services they provide, particularly concerning the integration of religion, rationality, and the needs of modern society. The results indicate a shift from magical elements to a more rational approach in their social da'wah services, integrating religious literacy and faith-moral therapy with social, economic, and health solutions. These kiai emphasize the relevance of religion to the needs of modern society, the strengthening of social cohesion, and the importance of responding to contemporary challenges. This study identifies four main themes: the transformation of religious practices, the integration of social needs and the community, inclusivity and egalitarianism in social services, and social empowerment and stability.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates how Islam Nusantara is represented, contested, and legitimized across digital platforms, focusing on its role as both a cultural-religious discourse and a site of ideological negotiation. Methodology/approach: A mixed-method triangulation was employed, combining quantitative content analysis, qualitative framing analysis, and philological examination of digitized manuscripts. Validity and reliability were maintained through systematic coding, intercoder agreement, peer debriefing, re-coding cycles, and cross-referencing of manuscript variants. Results/findings: The quantitative findings reveal that Islam Nusantara discourse appeared in 2,354 posts across three major platforms, with 62% inclusivist frames, 28% nationalist frames, and 10% critical frames. Frequently recurring terms such as religious moderation, Islam rahmatan lil-‘alamin, and local culture confirm its online resonance. Framing analysis uncovers inclusivist, nationalist, and critical lenses shaping the discourse, while philological analysis demonstrates continuity with historical traditions of Islam–local culture synthesis. Conclusions: Islam Nusantara’s digital representation is multi-dimensional, shaped by both contemporary ideological contestation and deep-rooted textual legitimacy. The integration of quantitative, qualitative, and philological evidence provides a comprehensive framework for understanding religious discourse in the digital age. Limitations: The data are time-bound (up to June 2023) and limited to selected digital platforms, which may not fully capture the broader scope of Islam Nusantara debates. Contribution: The study theoretically introduces a triangulated methodological model (content, framing, philological) in digital religion research. Practically, it highlights Islam Nusantara’s potential to strengthen moderate Islamic discourse and support digital religious policies that foster inclusivity and cultural integration.
