Abstract

Indonesia has experienced triple burdens of malnutrition characterized by undernutrition, overweight, and micronutrient deficiency problems. Adolescents are vulnerable population for these kind of problems because they tend to change theirs eating behavior along with physical and psychological development. This study aim to determine the correlation between eating behavior and nutritional status in adolescents at SMAN 22 Bandung. A cross-sectional design was used for the study, involving 277 participants randomly chosen from the population. Eating behavior variable was assessed using a modified version of the Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (DEBQ) which comprised 28 items covering restrained, emotional, and external aspects of eating behavior. Nutritional status was determined based on Body Mass Index (BMI). The Spearman Rank correlation test was used for bivariate analysis. Aspects of restrained eating behavior and external eating behavior significantly correlated with nutritional status with the value of (p = 0.003, r = 0.173) and (p = 0.003, r = -0.176) respectively. Meanwhile, there is no significant correlation between emotional eating behavior with nutritional status (p = 0.166, r = 0.081). Restrained eating behavior showed a positive correlation, indicating that individuals exhibiting higher levels of restrained eating behavior tended to have over-nutritional status. Conversely, external eating behavior demonstrated a negative correlation, suggesting that higher levels of external eating behavior were associated with poorer nutritional status.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting remains a public health issue in Indonesia, including in Bandung City. Family Assistance Team cadres play a key role in preventing stunting through education and support for at-risk families. One factor influencing cadre success is self-efficacy, which may be affected by their knowledge of stunting. This study aims to examine the relationship between cadre knowledge of stunting and self-efficacy in three stunting-prone urban villages in Bandung City: Dago, Margasari, and Babakan. This study used secondary data from a quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 72 cadres selected using consecutive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using the Spearman correlation test. The results showed no significant relationship between knowledge of stunting and cadre self-efficacy (r = -0.180, p = 0.129). Although some cadres had good knowledge, it did not directly enhance their confidence in assisting families. Strengthening cadre self-efficacy should not rely solely on knowledge improvement but also on practical training, field simulations, and continuous psychosocial support. Keywords: Cadres Family Assistance Team, Knowledge, Self-Efficacy, Stunting, Stunting Prevention.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a serious health issue in Indonesia. One factor that influences the success of stunting prevention is maternal behavior in child health practices. In this case, maternal self-efficacy plays an important role in encouraging the consistent and effective implementation of stunting prevention behavior. This study aims to analyze the relationship between self-efficacy and stunting prevention behavior among mothers of toddlers in three stunting loci in Bandung City, namely Margasari, Dago, and Babakan Ciparay Villages. This study used a cross-sectional design with a correlational analytic approach based on secondary data. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between self-efficacy and stunting prevention behavior in mothers of toddlers with a positive relationship direction (p-value=0.011). The higher the mother's self-efficacy, the better the stunting prevention behavior applied. Therefore, strengthening stunting prevention behavior in mothers needs to be initiated by increasing mothers' self-efficacy for this behavior.  Keywords: Self-Efficacy, Behavior, Stunting Prevention, Mothers Of Toddlers  ABSTRAK Stunting merupakan permasalahan gizi kronis yang masih menjadi isu kesehatan serius di Indonesia.

Abstract

Stroke is one of the leading causes of long-term disability and mortality worldwide, with a common consequence being muscle weakness (hemiparesis) that results in impaired mobility and decreased independence among older adults. Non-pharmacological rehabilitation efforts, such as rubber ball gripping therapy, can serve as a simple alternative intervention to improve muscle strength and motor function. This case study aimed to determine the effect of rubber ball gripping therapy and range of motion (ROM) exercises on improving muscle strength in an elderly post-stroke patient at UPTD Griya Lansia Ciparay. The subject was a 68-year-old male elderly patient with left-sided hemiparesis following a stroke. The intervention was conducted for six consecutive days, consisting of rubber ball gripping exercises for 10–15 minutes daily, and muscle strength was evaluated using the Manual Muscle Testing (MMT) method. The results demonstrated an improvement in left extremity muscle strength from 2/5 to 4/5, accompanied by increased motivation and self-confidence in the patient. Rubber ball gripping therapy combined with range of motion exercises proved effective in enhancing muscle strength in elderly post-stroke patients. This intervention aligns with the objectives of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, which emphasizes the importance of improving quality of life and achieving optimal health for all age groups, including older adults.

Abstract

Cognitive decline is a common health problem experienced by older adults and can affect their independence and quality of life. This issue is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being), which highlight the importance of improving health and well-being across all age groups. Non-pharmacological cognitive stimulation, such as Jigsaw Puzzle Therapy (JPT), is one of the interventions that aims to help maintain brain function. Objective: To describe the implementation and outcomes of Jigsaw Puzzle Therapy (JPT) in an older adult with cognitive impairment at Griya Lansia Ciparay. This case report employed the nursing care process approach involving a 74-year-old female older adult. Cognitive function was assessed before and after the intervention. JPT was administered daily for seven consecutive days using picture-based puzzles with a low level of difficulty. An improvement in cognitive ability was observed, indicated by an increase in cognitive function scores from 15 to 20 after the intervention. The most notable improvements were seen in time and place orientation as well as basic calculation skills. This case report shows that seven sessions of Jigsaw Puzzle Therapy were associated with improvements in the client’s cognitive scores. JPT may serve as a simple and feasible activity to provide cognitive stimulation for older adults in long-term care settings.
