Abstract

Crude Palm Oil (CPO) is one of important commodity for Indonesia. Indonesia is the biggest producers of CPO in the world, and the second exporter after Malaysia.  Despite the fact that Indonesia and Malaysia are mayor CPO exporters, CPO traders determine CPO price in spot market. As a result, Indonesian and Malaysian producers often face price volatilites. Indonesian traders do not have bargaining power in the price determination. On other hands, domestik demands for CPO grow up.  For that reason,  The Indonesian goverment must take a policy to guarantee the fulfilment of CPO needs.  The objective of research are (1) to describe the Indonesian policy in CPO trade that integrated with World market in Rotterdam and Malaysian Market and (2) to formulate the policy implication of CPO price formation in Indonesia. The research showed that Indonesia act as price taker, this is because Indonesian goverment has no bargaining power to determine price in domestic - and international market. To solving the problem is important for goverment to develop CPO’s future market and create product diversification for CPO. Keywords: Crude Palm Oil, Goverment Policy, Price, Integration market

Abstract

This study analyzes the demand for wheat flour in Medan City, with the aim of determining the effect of wheat flour prices and income on demand. Using the Marshallian Linear Demand model, the data used covers the period 2018-2023. The results of the analysis show that wheat flour prices have a significant effect on demand, with a coefficient of 0.165, while the effect of income is not significant with a coefficient of 0.016. The regression model used shows an R-squared value of 0.842, indicating that this model is able to explain 84.2% of the variation in wheat flour demand. The classical assumption test shows that there are no problems of multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and autocorrelation, and the data is normally distributed. These findings provide insight into the dynamics of wheat flour demand and its implications for marketing strategies in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

The productivity of Curly Red Chillies in Tanah Datar Regency is lower than the average in West Sumatra. The objectives of this study are to: (1) analyse the factors affecting the productivity of red chilli in Tanah Datar Regency, (2) analyse the level of technical efficiency of red chilli in Tanah Datar Regency, (3) analyse the factors affecting the technical efficiency of red chilli in Tanah Datar Regency. The method used in this research is the survey method on 80 samples through random sampling. Data analysis using Cobb-Douglas stochastic frontier production function. The results showed that the factors that have a positive and significant effect on the productivity of kerinting red chillies are seeds, manure, ZA fertiliser, and labour. While the factors that have a negative and significant effect are kcl fertiliser, npk phonska fertiliser, and zpt. This explains that any addition of factors that have a positive and significant effect will increase production and vice versa, any addition of factors that have a negative and significant effect will reduce the production of curly red chilli. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the productivity factors of seeds, manure, ZA fertiliser, and labour and reduce the inputs of kcl fertiliser, npk phonska fertiliser and ZPT for more efficient curly red chilli farming.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the distribution of bananas in the Nagari Mandiri Pangan Program in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra. Nagari Mandiri Pangan is a program implemented by the West Sumatra government. This program is an adaptation of the Desa Mandiri Pangan launched by the Food Security Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture (BKP) at the national level. The West Sumatra Government is trying to explore the needs of the farmers themselves. In this case, farmers who are in the group ask to be given banana seed assistance, which is a commodity that has the potential to be developed. This research was carried out on five farmer groups in Padang Pariaman Regency. The method used is an interview using a questionnaire, which is then analyzed using descriptive statistics. The existing results are compared with the technical guidelines and implementation guidelines that have been prepared. From the results, it was found that the distribution of banana seeds was carried out during the current year, and the requests from farmer groups could be accommodated through this program. Banana plants were chosen because this commodity has suitable growing conditions at the research site. Farmers are obliged to provide land that is used from existing vacant land and land that was previously unused. In addition, farmers are obliged to maintain bananas that have been given properly and provide periodic reporting. To ensure that farmers carry out their obligations, the agency evaluates by visiting and providing assistance with good banana cultivation methods in collaboration with local extension workers.
