Abstract

The aim of this research is to find out the effect of Thinking Actively in a Social Context, Creative Problem Solving, and Direct Instruction learning models on students' divergent thinking skills. The quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method was used as the research approach. The research subjects include the fifth-grade students at the public elementary schools in Laweyan District, Surakarta, Indonesia. The data were collected using test and non-test techniques. They were then analyzed using the prerequisite test, hypothesis test and multiple-comparison test. The results show that the learning model has an effect on divergent thinking skills. The selection of TASC and CPS learning models has an effect on the students activeness in learning, so teachers can consider these models to be applied in learning with integrated thematic teaching materials in the 2013 curriculum.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in critical thinking skills between students who learn using the problem based learning model and STAD model. This research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method. The population of this study is the X grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Surakarta in the academic year 2017/2018. Samples were obtained by using cluster random sampling technique consisting of two classes namely X PM 1 class as the experimental class with problem-based learning and X PM 3 class as the control class with STAD learning. The technique of collecting data uses a multiple choice test to determine students' critical thinking skills. Data Analysis is using MANOVA. The results of the study indicate that there is a significant influence between the learning model on critical thinking skills. The application of the problem-based learning model proved to be more able to improve students' critical thinking skills compared to the STAD learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of self-perceived creativity and environmental support on university students' digital entrepreneurial intentions while also examining a mediation model. This research used a survey method with a quantitative approach. The data was collected involving undergraduate students in Economic Education from three universities in Central Java province. The study engaged 531 population and 229 samples selected using the proportionate random sampling method. SEM-PLS analysis was employed for data analysis. The findings suggest that digital entrepreneurial intention is positively, albeit not significantly, impacted by self-perceived creativity. Meanwhile, digital entrepreneurial intention is positively and significantly impacted by both environmental support and digital entrepreneurial self-efficacy. Moreover, digital entrepreneurial self-efficacy is also positively and significantly impacted by self-perceived creativity and environmental support. Then, the mediation models are also accepted. The results suggest fostering creativity-based learning programs, training, internships, and short courses to enhance students' confidence in digital entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial intentions. To this end, collaborating with universities, governments, and private sectors is crucial in executing such initiatives.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to develop and assess the effectiveness of Smart Apps Creator (SAC)-based interactive learning media to enhance critical thinking skills among fifth-grade students in Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) learning.Methodology – Employing the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), the study employed a quasi-experimental design with purposive sampling for the needs analysis (20 teachers, 24 students) and random sampling for the trials (54 experimental and 57 control group students across four elementary schools). The experimental group engaged in six offline SAC-based learning sessions, while the control group used conventional methods (lectures, worksheets, static images). Data were collected through classroom observations, media feasibility questionnaires, and pre- and post-tests of critical thinking skills, and analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired t-tests, and N-Gain scores.Findings – The SAC-based media achieved high feasibility (expert validation: 82.3%-86.5%). They significantly improved critical thinking, with the experimental group recording an N-Gain of 0.75 (high) and a t-value of -30.556 (p = 0.000), outperforming the control group’s N-Gain of 0.42 (moderate) and a t-value of -18.070 (p = 0.000). Interactive elements, such as quizzes and animations, fostered student-centered learning, although challenges included limited hardware and teacher training needs. The offline SAC media effectively addressed connectivity constraints, enhancing analytical skills.Contribution – This study offers a scalable, offline educational technology solution for rural areas, promoting 21st-century skills such as critical thinking and suggesting the broader implementation and exploration of additional skills, including collaboration and communication.

Abstract

The integration of 21st-century skills, such as critical thinking, collaboration, and digital literacy, into elementary science education remains suboptimal. Preliminary observations in Purwantoro indicate that traditional teaching methods dominate, with limited use of interactive media, restricting the development of essential student competencies. This study addresses the need for innovative learning tools by exploring the potential of Smart Apps Creator (SAC) in enhancing IPAS (science and social studies) education. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered from five elementary school teachers through interviews, observations, and document analysis, meanwhile, the data analysis technique in this research uses descriptive analysis techniques. Findings reveal that SAC-based media effectively meet teachers’ needs by providing interactive features that promote engagement and independent learning. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure and teacher training were identified. The study underscores the significance of aligning educational practices with the demands of the digital era by integrating interactive media into the curriculum. It highlights the role of SAC in fostering 21st-century skills, offering practical recommendations for professional development and curriculum enhancement. It is hoped that the results of this research will have implications for innovative and technology-based learning as a step to accommodate learning in elementary schools more optimally.

Abstract

The low creative thinking skills of students in Indonesia, as reflected in the low scores on the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), indicate significant challenges in the education system. Conventional learning media that are less interactive are one of the factors that hinder student engagement and the development of their creativity. This study aims to explore teachers' views on the development of Canva-assisted flashcards as interactive learning media for multiplication material in elementary schools. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method, with the subjects of the study being teachers at SD Negeri 2 Pondok, Wonogiri Regency, who were selected purposively. Data collection techniques include semi-structured interviews, non-participatory observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the Miles & Huberman interactive analysis model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that teachers are aware of the limitations of conventional learning media and consider Canva-assisted flashcards as an innovative solution. This media is considered capable of increasing student engagement, facilitating the understanding of multiplication concepts, and supporting creative thinking skills. These findings emphasize the importance of developing technology-based learning media to support 21st-century education.

Abstract

This study has a goal to determine the effectiveness of the CPS learning process in thematic learning and the effectiveness of CPS on students' divergent thinking skills. The exploratory sequential mixed method was used in this study. The study participants were 184 fifth-grade students at public elementary schools in Laweyan District. Test instruments, observation sheets, and documentation were used to collect research data. The content and construct validations were used to test the validity of the test instrument, while the observation sheet and documentation were only tested for their content validity. This study went through two stages of data analysis, namely quantitative tests (normality, homogeneity, balance, hypothesis, and post-ANOVA tests) and qualitative analysis using interactive analysis methods through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study describe the calculation of the hypothesis test with an F obs value of 18.23 which is higher than the F table value of 3.02 with a significance level of 0.05. The average score of students who learn using the CPS model is 69.36 while students who use the DI model obtain an average score of 63.43. Students demonstrate every indicator of divergent thinking skills (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration) during the learning process with the CPS model. Therefore, it can be concluded that the CPS learning model is more effective than DI to improve students' divergent thinking skills. The results of this study can be applied to improve the divergent thinking skills of elementary school students.
