Abstract

Family medicinal plants (TOGA) are a form of traditional medicine that has long been used by Indonesians to maintain health, but the level of knowledge and attitudes of the community towards their use still varies. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and attitudes of the community regarding the use of TOGA as an effort to optimize public health in Catur Boyolali Village. This study used a correlative descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of 40 members of the Catur Village germas group, selected using total sampling technique. Data were collected through knowledge and attitude questionnaires, then analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation test. The research instruments demonstrated content validity based on validation conducted in previous studies. The questionnaires met reliability criteria and showed good measurement consistency based on previous studies. Most respondents had a good level of knowledge (60%) and a good attitude (52.5%). The Spearman Rank test results showed a p-value of 0.901 (>0.05), which means that there is no significant relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of the community towards the use of TOGA. There was no relationship between the level of knowledge and attitude of the community in the use of TOGA. The attitude of the community was influenced by other factors such as culture, experience, beliefs, and social support. Culture-based education and sustainable health promotion are needed to optimize the use of TOGA.

Abstract

The global rise in hypertension cases has made it one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality from cardiovascular diseases. Nonpharmacological approaches using the DASH diet have been shown to be effective in controlling blood pressure; however, their implementation requires family involvement supported by systematic health education. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of health education on the DASH diet for families in reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension based on a literature review. This study employed a literature review method, searching for articles on PubMed, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate published between 2020 and 2025. A total of 339 articles were identified, and following the PRISMA screening process, 8 articles were selected for analysis. Selection was conducted according to the PRISMA flowchart, resulting in eight articles meeting the criteria for descriptive analysis. The study findings indicate that providing DASH diet education involving family participation can help improve dietary patterns in hypertensive patients and contribute to controlling and lowering blood pressure. DASH diet education involving the family has been shown to contribute to changes in eating behavior and blood pressure control in individuals with hypertension.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of health education using an educational approach in increasing public knowledge regarding handwashing with soap (CTPS). The method used was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test and post-test approach without a control group. The results showed an increase in the mean knowledge score of respondents from 10.27 in the pre-test to 14.40 in the post-test. Statistical analysis showed a t-value of -7.059 with a significance value of p = 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a statistically significant difference between knowledge levels before and after health education. In conclusion, health education using an educational approach, implemented in a structured and participatory manner, can increase public knowledge regarding handwashing with soap and can be an effective promotional strategy to support the sustainable implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors in the community.   Keywords: Handwashing with Soap, Health Education, Clean and Healthy Living Behavior
