Abstract

Determination of Ammonia Levels (NH3) in Mahakam River Water at 5 points around the city of Samarinda has been carried out. The method used is to use a spectrophotometer by the phenate method. The results obtained at these five points are samples of Mahakam river water (Loa Janan Ilir), Mahakam river water (Samarinda Seberang), Mahakam river water (Sungai Kunjang), Mahakam river water (Samarinda Kota) and Mahakam river water (Sambutan) respectively with a concentration was 0.1043 mg/L; 0.1141 mg/L; 0.1303 mg/L; 0.0812 mg/L and 0.1214 mg/L. These results indicate that the highest ammonia concentration is in the Mahakam River (Sungai Kunjang), which is possible due to the high activity of ships. Abstract

The use of bangkirai wood sawdust as adsorbent for used lubricant (oil) adsorption has been carried out. The purpose of this research is to find out how activated charcoal from bangkirai wood sawdust (Shorea Lavefolia Endert) can be used as a lubricating adsorbent (oil) seen from the testing and characterization of activated charcoal. The process of making bangkirai wood sawdust activated charcoal 0 is through a carbonization process at 500 C for 15 minutes and an activation process is carried out in activated charcoal by soaking using 25% H3PO4 solution for 24 hours. Determination of the quality of activated charcoal is carried out by testing the moisture content, ash content and iodine absorption capacity. The results obtained were the water content of activated charcoal H3PO4 25% which was 1,0590%, the ash content of activated charcoal H3PO4 25% was 0,0998% and the absorption capacity of activated charcoal H3PO4 activated charcoal 25% was 375,3253 mg/g. The optimum conditions for the adsorption of used lubricant (oil) were using activated charcoal adsorbent bangkirai wood sawdust, namely the mass of 1,5 grams and the contact time of 30 minutes. Abstract

Textile dyes include compounds that are difficult to decompose naturally. In the waters is a serious environmental problem because it can have a negative impact. This study aims to utilize lai fruit peel which is used as activated charcoal as an adsorbent to adsorb purple dyes in woven sarong waste water. The first stage of making activated charcoal is through carbonation in a furnace at 500oC for 30 minutes. Activation was carried out chemically by immersing it in 2 M H2SO4 solution for 24 hours. FTIR characterization of the resulting activated carbon was carried out to determine its functional groups and SEM characterization to determine its morphology. The results of FTIR characterization of activated carbon from lai fruit peel powder have functional groups -CO- and –OH, while SEM characterization of activated carbon from lai fruit peel powder is in the form of fibers with open pore surfaces that are spread on the surface and cavity walls of the activated charcoal of lai fruit peel powder. The adsorption process was carried out using the bath method and the concentration of the purple dye was determined using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the adsorption of purple dye by activated charcoal was optimal at contact time of 1 minute and at pH 8. Adsorption of purple dye followed by the Freundlich adsorption pattern and had a maximum chemical adsorption capacity of 55.209 mg/g.

Abstract

The research about identification of PAF, NAF and uncertain rock using NTAPP method in the PT. Trubaindo Coal Mining has been done. This research was conducted as an effort to control the potential for the formation of acid mine drainage, with identifying the types of mine rocks using certain testing methods. Some important parameters such as Total Sulfur Level, Slurry pH, Total Actual Acidity (TAA), Chromium Reducible Sulfur (CRS) and Acid Neutralizing Capacity (ANC) using the NTAPP method on mine rocks have been determined to identify mining rock category categories. Based on the results of tests on 101 samples, 63 samples were identified included in the category of rocks that are not NAF (Slurry pH value = 4.1 - 8.9; Total Sulfur = 0.01-0.60 %; CRS = 0.01-0.10 % and NTAPP = 0.030-0.959 %), 38 samples were classified as PAF (pH Slurry = 2.9-7.9; Total Sulfur = 0.01-5.10 %; CRS = 0.11-2.04 % and NTAPP = 0.053-4.571 %), and no sample was included in the uncertainty category.
