Abstract

The research aims to describe the beckground, condition, and factors leading to the uprising of peasants in Unra during the era of Japanese occupation in South Sulawesi in the year 1943. In the analysis of the revolt of Unra peasants as a social movement, I examine the factors, conditions, and community structures that served as the bases of the uprising. Factors such as ideologies and leadership are also considered in order to know the extent to which they motivated and contributed to the event. In the same way, the study also focuses on the cultural and religious backgrounds within the historical context of the revolt, along with the social, economic, and political climates in Unra during the Japanese occupation. In order to reconstruct this historic movement, a qualitative research method is employed from a historical perspective. A historical method is used to analyze the process and developmental stages in a chronological fashion. Historical analysis was done using approaches from other disciplines such as sociology, anthropology, and political science in order to obtain a broader understanding of the revolt. The goal of this approach is to discover the processes of social change and other social indications that may have been involved such as social conflict, disorganization, and lack of integration among rural communities. Research results show that during the time of Japanese rule in Indonesia, particularly in the year 1943 in Unra, a rapid social change occurred and a wartime economic policy was forced upon the people. This then became the motivating factor behind the uprising of peasants as a social movement.

Abstract

Background: Food taboo is one of the social phenomena that can influence people’s health status, including women in fisherman families. Some types of food categorized as taboo may contain high nutrients. Food taboo practices still occur because people are afraid that bad things will happen if they ignore them. Objective: This study aimed to explore the food taboo among pregnant, breastfeeding, and adult women in Bira Village, Bulukumba District, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. Methods: This study employed a phenomenological design. Eight participants were selected using the purposive sampling method. Data were collected in 2022 using semi-structured interviews and were analyzed using summative content analysis using NVivo software. Results: Several types of food were categorized as taboo, such as Lela fish, moringa fruit, pineapple, stingray, moringa leaf, squid, and mango. Most participants agreed that they just follow what the older people suggest, which might not make sense since all those foods contain many nutritional ingredients. Conclusion: The study findings serve as an input for public health professionals and other related stakeholders to address this cultural issue and provide understanding to the community not to avoid taboo food, which is essentially beneficial for their health.

TikTok, as a rapidly growing social media platform in Indonesia, has become a primary space for social interaction and the creation of digital identities. This article examines the phenomenon of social media commodification through Jean Baudrillard's theory, focusing on TikTok Indonesia. Based on the concepts of simulation and hyperreality, this article discusses how TikTok creates images that replace reality and produces identities and lifestyles as commodities. Through the practice of curated content creation, TikTok introduces a hyperreal world where users interact more with their digitally constructed self-representations than with physical reality. This commodification introduces a new dynamic in social interactions, where products, images, and experiences become part of an identity that is marketed. This article analyzes the impact of TikTok's commodification on consumer culture, individual identity, and the social structure in Indonesia.

Abstract

Social inclusion has become a crucial issue to advocate for, especially in a diverse country like Indonesia, which frequently faces violence and exclusive treatment. Norms such as Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika serve as a glue for diversity, yet tensions among citizens still exist. Schools play a strategic role in disseminating inclusive values from an early age, but challenges such as bullying, violence, and harassment persist. Therefore, it is vital to make schools arenas for practicing social inclusion, which not only fosters acceptance of differences but also addresses issues of violence. The implementation of social inclusion in schools must go beyond mere actions; it is a commitment to creating an environment that welcomes all students, regardless of background. Inclusive education helps reduce stereotypes, enhances empathy, and strengthens social skills. Schools that adopt this principle open opportunities for meaningful learning, improve emotional well-being and help shape future leaders who are sensitive to diversity. This implementation requires collaboration among teachers, students, parents, and the community, as well as support from inclusive policies. With concrete steps, social inclusion can strengthen the foundation of a more just, diverse, and equitable society.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) adoption on community consumption patterns in Sinjai Regency. The background of this research is the government's push to promote non-cash transactions via QRIS since 2019, but its adoption in areas with a traditional market economy base and MSMEs remains low. The method used is a mixed-method approach, comprising a quantitative survey of 31 traders and 67 consumers at the Lappa Fish Auction Place, Sinjai Regency, as well as semi-structured interviews to capture socio-cultural and technical barriers. The results show that only 11% of traders have activated QRIS, with an average of 2.5 non-cash transactions per day, while 15% of consumers have shifted to digital payments. Main obstacles include limited digital literacy, lack of trust in data security, and a habitual preference for cash. Digital sociology analysis reveals that limited social networks and reliance on old habits slow the diffusion of this innovation, resulting in an income gap approximately 12% higher for QRIS-using traders. The research recommendations include community-based digital literacy training, improved internet infrastructure in markets, and cross-stakeholder collaboration to promote financial inclusion and accelerate local digital transformation
