Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is chronic disease that requires routine lifelong treatment. Uncontrolled blood sugar levels in DM patients can cause complications. This has an impact on the burden of health costs. The aim of this study to conduct a narrative review of the cost of illness in type 2 DM patients in various countries. The English articles used in this study were obtained from Pubmed, ScienceDirect, and Wiley that published in the period 2011 to 2021. The cost reported in the articles were local currency that later converted into US dollars according to the time of the study. Based on the narrative review, there are 19 articles that meet the criteria. In the article, there are varied perspectives, methods, and cost categories. The total cost per year for type 2 DM ranged from US$246.1 to US$5894.1, direct, and indirect costs per patient per year ranged from US$ 104.6 to US$5246.4 and US$82.9 to US$2299.4. Type 2 diabetes mellitus increases the burden of health costs. The presence of complications in type 2 DM patients requires higher health costs compared to uncomplicated type 2 DM patients and non-DM patient

Abstract

Taro leaf (Colocasia esculenta (L) Schott) is a plant from the Araceae family that has antihyperglycemic activity because it contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, polyphenols and alkaloids. This study was aimed to determine the antihyperglycemic activity of ethanol extract, methanol fraction and n-hexane fraction of taro leaves given to male white rats after streptozotocin and alloxan were induced. The experimental research method used 55 male white rats with 6 treatments. Group 1 normal, group 2 negative control CMC-Na, group 3 positive control metformin 500 mg, group 4 ethanol extract at a dose of 200 mg/Kgbb (streptozotocin induction), group 5 methanol fraction at a dose of 38, 1 mg/KgBW (streptozotocin induction), group 6 n-hexane fraction at a dose of 9,2 mg/KgBW (streptozotocin induction), group 7 ethanol extract at a dose of 200 mg/Kgbb (aloxan induction), group 8 methanol fraction at a dose of 38, 1 mg/KgBW (aloxan induction) and group 9 n-hexane fraction at a dose of 9,2 mg/KgBW (aloxan induction). Glucose levels were checked using an Easy Touch glucometer. The results showed that statistically the ethanol extract of taro leaves at a dose of 200 mg/KgBW was the most effective in lowering blood glucose in male white rats. Abstract

Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) is a plant from the Fabaceae family known to the public as Ki Hujan. Trembesi fruit and seeds have several chemical compounds there are alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins which have analgesic activity. This study aims to determine the dose of an extract of the fruit and seeds of trembesi which has analgesic activity but does not cause side effects in the form of irritation to the stomach of rats (Rattus norvegicus) macroscopically. A total of 40 rats were in 8 treatment groups, namely a negative control group of 0.5% CMC-Na, a positive control group of 500 mg acetosal, a group of 3, 4, 5 extracts of trembesi fruit at doses of 100, 200, 300 mg/kg BW, group 6, 7, 8 extracts of trembesi seeds at doses of 100, 200, 300 mg/kg BW. 0.7% acetic acid was induced in rats intraperitoneally as a pain inductor. The analgesic activity test was using the writhing test method and then the extract was continued for 7 days to determine the safety of the rat gastric. Data were analyzed using non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Man-Whitney. The results showed that the optimal ethanol extract of trembesi fruit and seeds was shown at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW with an analgesic power of 75,74% and 76,79% equivalent to acetosal which was 81.74% (Sig. > 0.05) with an ulcer index of 2 or otherwise not showed irritation of the stomach seen from the results of macroscopic observations of gastric. This study concludes that the ethanol extract of trembesi fruit and seeds at a dose of 200 mg/kg has the best analgesic activity and is safe for the stomach. Abstract

Latar belakang: Minyak biji anggur dapat menangkal radikal bebas pada kulit karena memiliki manfaat sebagai antioksidan. Untuk dapat mengaplikasikan kandungan pada minyak biji anggur dibuat sediaan sabun cair. Gelling agent yang dapat digunakan untuk pembuatan sabun cair adalah CMC-Na dan Carbopol. Tujuan: Penelitian bertujuan untuk membuat formulasi dan mengetahui hasil uji mutu fisik sabun cair minyak biji anggur (Vitis vinifera L.) menggunakan variasi gelling agent CMC-Na dan carbopol. Metode: Penelitian dilakukan secara ekperimental dengan melakukan formulasi dan uji mutu fisik meliputi organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, alkali bebas, bobot jenis, dan tinggi busa. Pada formula 1 menggunakan gelling agent CMC-Na 0,5% dan formula 2 menggunakan gelling agent Carbopol 0,5%. Pada kedua formula menggunakan bahan aktif minyak biji anggur (Vitis vinifera L.) sebesar 3%. Hasil: Penelitian ini menunjukkan formula 1 dan formula 2 memiliki perbedaaan hasil uji mutu fisik yang tidak bermakna dengan perbedaan gelling agent. Simpulan: Uji mutu fisik sabun cair minyak biji anggur meliputi organoleptis, pH, homogenitas, alkali bebas, bobot jenis, dan uji tinggi busa telah memenuhi persyaratan.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is an infectious disease caused by the Dengue virus through the Aedes aegypti mosquito vector, which is controlled both at the larval and adult stages. The use of chemicals that are difficult to degrade in nature can pollute the environment. The Paitan plant (Tithonia diversifolia) contains secondary metabolite compounds that have the potential to be natural larvicides. This study aims to determine the natural larvicidal activity of Paitan leaf infusion. This study is an experimental study. The results of this study indicate that (1) Paitan leaf infusion contains alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, saponin, phenolic, and tannin compounds. At concentrations of 1.8%, 3.2% and 5.6%, the mortality percentage results were 41.30%, 50.60% and 60% respectively; (2) The administration of Paitan leaf infusion has an effect on morphological damage Aedes aegypti larvae in the thorax, digestive tract and siphon. The content of different metabolite compounds causes different levels of morphological damage at each concentration

Abstract

Seledri (Apium graveolens L.) memiliki kandungan flavonoid, saponin dan tanin yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri pada Cutibacterium acnes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan manfaat seledri dalam bentuk masker gel peel-off dengan konsentrasi polivinil alkohol (PVA) sebagai lapisan film sebesar 4%, 7%, dan 10%, serta mengetahui hasil uji mutu fisik dan uji stabilitas menggunakan metode cycling test dengan suhu ± 4°C dan ± 40°C selama 3 siklus. Analisis data hasil uji stabilitas diolah menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA. Hasil uji mutu fisik menunjukan bahwa masker gel peel-off ekstrak seledri dengan variasi konsentrasi PVA memiliki perbedaan pada hasil uji organoleptis, uji pH, uji daya sebar, uji daya lekat dan uji waktu mengering. Hasil uji stabilitas menunjukkan bahwa ketiga formula masker gel peel-off ekstrak seledri stabil selama pengujian. Konsentrasi PVA yang menunjukkan hasil paling baik yaitu PVA 10% dengan bentuk sangat kental, pH 5,42 ± 0,02, daya sebar 5,16 ± 0,03 cm, daya lekat 5,23 ± 0,06 detik, dan waktu mengering 18,0 ± 1,0 menit. Celery (Apium graveolens L.) contains flavonoids, saponins and tannins which have antibacterial activity against Cutibacterium acnes. This study aims to develop the benefits of celery in the form of a peel-off gel mask with a concentration of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a film layer of 4%, 7%, and 10%, also determining the results of physical quality and stability tests using the cycling test method with temperatures of ± 4°C and ± 40°C for 3 cycles. Analysis of stability test data was processed using the One-Way ANOVA test. The results of the physical quality test showed that the celery extract peel-off gel mask with variations in PVA concentration had differences in the results of organoleptic, pH, spreadability, adhesion and drying time tests. The stability test results showed that the three celerys extract peel-off gel mask formulas were stable during testing. The PVA concentration that showed the best results was 10% PVA with a very thick form, pH 5.42 ± 0.02, spreadability 5.16 ± 0.03 cm, adhesiveness 5.23 ± 0.06 seconds, and drying time 18.0 ± 1.0 minutes. Abstract

Preeklamsia merupakan suatu kelainan pada kehamilan yang ditandai dengan peningkatan tekanan darah atau hipertensi disertai proteinuria yang terjadi pada usia kehamilan lebih dari 20 minggu pada wanita yang awalnya memiliki tekanan darah normal. Prevalensi preeklamsia sekitar 5% - 15% dari seluruh ibu hamil. Hal ini dapat menimbulkan komplikasi berat bahkan kematian pada ibu dan janin apabila tidak ditangani dengan baik. Presentasi kasus: Seorang wanita berusia 50 tahun dengan tinggi badan pasien 145 cm, berat badan pasien 50 kg dan IMT 23,7, dirawat di rumah sakit dengan diagnosis GIII P2002 37/38 GHHIU + PE + IUGR/IUGR. Tekanan darah pasien 177/102 mmHg dengan RR 19x/menit, suhu tubuh 36,6OC, dan SO2 98% serta kadar Hb 7,2 g/dL, HCT 23,8%, MCV 72,3 fl, MCH 21,9, SCr 0,51mg/dL, BUN 6mg/dL, Kalium 3,4mmol/l, Albumin 3,23g/dL. Pasien tidak memiliki riwayat hipertensi, diabetes melitus, alergi dan asma. Riwayat pemeriksaan pasien pada usia kehamilan 35/36 minggu dimana pasien USG, kemudian didapatkan hasil fetus yang diduga IUGR dan memerlukan NICU sehingga pasien diberikan surat rujukan. Kesimpulan: Berdasarkan pharmaceutical care, pemberian terapi pada pasien sudah sesuai dengan pedoman. Pada pasien dengan preeklamsia, diagnosis yang tepat serta penanganan dan penatalaksanaan yang tepat oleh tim multidisiplin dapat mencegah komplikasi preeklamsia dan meningkatkan hasil pengobatan pasien preeklamsia.
