Abstract

Mundu (Garcinia dulcis Kurz.) is one of the potential with the chemical compound xanton and triterpenoid for antiplasmodial. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of n-hexane extract of stem bark Mundu (Garcinia dulcis Kurz.) as the antiplasmodial in mice induced by Plasmodium berghei through a reduction in parasitemia and to find out the most effective doses that have antiplasmodial activities. The animal test mice before treatment with extract induced by Plasmodium berghei to the number of erythrocytic in the blood of 107 and antelmintika were given pirantel pamoat. The concentrate extract was tested in each group of animals test with a dose of 50 mg/kgBW mice, 100 mg / kgBW mice and 150 mg/kgBW mice, negative control group were given 0,5 % CMC and the positive control were given chloroquine be suspention in CMC solution. Antiplasmodial effect was observed by calculating the decrease of the amount of paracitemia. The results showed that the n-hexane extract of Mundu’s stem bark dose 50 mg / kgBW, 100 mg/kgBW and 150 mg/kgBW provide as antiplasmodial activity. Dose of 50 mg/kgBW provide antiplasmodial activity more effective.

Abstract

ABSTRACTGandarusa (Justicia gendarussa Burm. f) is a potential plant as analgetic activities.The aim of the present research was to investigate the analgetic activity with tail flick method onrat models of ethanol extract and the fractions of gandarusa leaf.Partitioned fractinations isolated from ethanolic extract of gandarusaleaves with nheksana,etil asetat and water. Dosage extracts and fractions gandarusa leaf, respectively, are250 mg/kg bw, 500 mg/kg bw, n-hexane fraction of 314 mg/kg bw, the fraction of 41,05 mg/kgbw and water fractions 144,8 mg/kg bw, the negative control group CMC and aspirin 360 mg/kgbw. The results showed the n-heksana fraction has optimal analgesic activity withantinociceptive percentage 94,58% comparable to aspirin.The preliminary phytochemical analisys showed the presence of active phytochemicalsuch as flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, steroids dan tannins and these compound might beresponsible for analgetic mechanism. The possibility analgetic mechanism of the gandarussa itsstimulate lipomodulin protein biosynthesis which inhibit the action of phospolipase enzimaticthat affecting the enzyme activity arachidonic acid but there is also has gastroprotective activitywith increased mucus production and prevents the release of histamine.

Abstract

Latar belakang : Corona virus 2019 (covid-19) yang terjadi di Indonesia tidak kunjung berakhir dengan jumlah kasus dan angka kematian yang terus meningkat, adanya reinfeksi dan mutasi virus. Untuk menanggulangi hal tersebut, masyarakat diwajibkan melaksanakan protokol kesehatan lebih ketat dan melaksanakan vaksinasi. Namun kesadaran dan kesediaan masyarakat untuk menerima vaksinasi covid-19 cukup rendah dengan persentase yaitu 45,7%. Penolakan vaksin ini terjadi karena berbagai alasan yaitu diantaranya tidak yakin keamanannya, tidak yakin efektif, takut akan efek samping dan lain sebagainya (Marwan, 2020; Kemenkes, 2021). Dengan adanya fakta tersebut maka dilakukan sosialisasi dengan sasaran yaitu remaja/dewasa berusia 18 tahun keatas sehingga meningkatkan pemahaman dan kesadaran untuk melaksanakan vaksinasi di masyarakat dapat meningkat dan terbentuk herd immunity. Metode : Sosialisasi kepada masyarakat remaja/dewasa di Desa Bandar Lor dilakukan secara on line/daring agar tidak membuat kerumunan dengan protokol kesehatan yang tepat. Hasil dan kesimpulan : Pemahaman urgensi vaksinasi dan peningkatan keinginan masyarakat remaja/dewasa mengenai vaksinasi di Desa Bandar Lor meningkat dari rata-rata 52% menjadi 76%. Masyarakat remaja dapat memahami pentingnya vaksinasi covid-19.

Abstract

Trembesi plant (Samanea saman (Jacq.) are used for traditional medicine as an antibacterial, an analgesic, treat headaches and diarrhea. The aims of this research were to determine analgesic activity and toxicity of n-hexana fraction of trembesi leaves in mice. Extraction using maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent, then solid-liquid partitioned. The activity of an analgesic test by induction acetic acid 1% using negative control CMC Na 0,5%, positive control acetosal dose of 360 mg/kgBW, the treatment group n-heksana fraction doses of 200, 350 and 500 mg/kgBW, while the toxicity test used negative CMC Na 0,5%, with the treatment group dose 5, 50, 500 and 5000 mg/kgBW. Analysis analgesic test data using the Hendersot and Forsaith equations for know the amount of stretching mice. Observation irritation gastric done by observation in makroskopis. While the toxicity test is done within 24 hours for calculated LD50 and make observations and Kruskal-Walli’s test in time 7 days to find out the delayed toxic effects. The results obtained the percent of the analgesic of the n-heksana fraction by 37.86%, 55.78% and 70.9% and LD50 values of 5000 mg/kgBW with the results observations made no significant difference (p>0.05). This research conclusion was the n-hexana fraction trembesi leaves having an analgesic doses activity with effective 350 mg/kgBW with a 55,78% analgetika potential and a toxic effect are categorized as toxic mild and there is no on the irritation.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by an increase in blood sugar levels caused by the body's inability to produce insulin. One of the non-pharmacological therapies is by utilizing herbal plants such as green sugarcane stalks (Saccarum officinarum L.). Research objective: to find out whether administration of green sugarcane stem extract can reduce alloxan-induced blood glucose levels in mice. Research method: experimental using male males as test animals totaling 25 animals which were divided into 5 groups, namely the negative control group, positive control, a sample group of 100 mg/kg, 125 mg/kg, and 250 mg/kg. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA test and continued with the LSD test. The results of the study at a dose of 125 mg/kg BW optimally reduce blood glucose level.

Abstract

The herbal drink in Indonesia has a fast development for its easy usage and minimum side effect. Some house plants have metabolite compounds with an important role as antiviral such as rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa), Curcuma domestica Val, Zingiber officinale, Cymbopogon citratus, and Pandanus amaryllifolius R. The purpose of our community empowerment activities was to introduce the benefits of house plants for supporting health, particularly as an antiviral during a pandemic. The method of community empowerment activities was carried out by explaining the example of home plants, their bioactive compound content, and their health benefits. The community was also taught to make simple and practical healthy drinks. The results showed that the community became more aware of the benefits of roselle and turmeric so that they did not doubt making a healthy drink to be consumed regularly during the pandemic. The results showed that about 85% of the community understood the benefits, and 90% were able to make herbal drinks. The conclusions of these community empowerment activities were going well. The community understood the benefits of house plants as an antiviral during a pandemic and succeeded in making simple healthy drinks from house plants.

Abstract

Ethnopharmacology is an effort to explore and discover new compounds in natural products that are related to the use of traditional medicines that apply to certain ethnic groups. These study has been conducted of ethnoparmacology medicinal plants that utilized the Batak community in Pasaribu Sub District Tobing District Central Tapanuli North Sumatra Province. Methods of this study include observational studies and ethnopharmacology studies. The results showed that the plants that are used as medicine in Pasaribu Tobing Subdistrict include 36 tribes consisting of 61 species, with the most commonly used tribe is Zingiberaceae of 9.83%. The most popular medicinal plants are used as antiseptics. The leaves are part of the most stout plants in use by 41.79%. The treatment of medicinal plants is mostly done by boiling 33.33% and the use of medicinal plants are the most widely used by drinking method by 56.61%.

Abstract

The potential of the trembesi plant (Samanea saman) which is used for traditional medicine includes antibacterial, analgesic, treating headaches and diarrhea [1]. Trembesi leaves are known to have several chemical compounds such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, saponins, and steroids or triterpenoids which are thought to have activity in reducing total cholesterol levels [2]. The aim of this study was to determine the activity and optimal dose of trembesi leaf extract which can reduce total and LDL cholesterol levels in hypercholesterolemic mice. Research method: 25 test mice were divided into 5 groups consisting of group 1 given CMC-NA 1% negative control, group 2 given simvastatin 10 mg positive control, groups 3, 4 and 5 were given extract treatment trembesi leaves with doses of 35 mg/KgBW, 175 mg/KgBW and 350 mg/KgBW. The mice tested were given atherogenic feed and then examined for total and LDL cholesterol levels using the CHOD PAP enzymatic method. Data analysis used the one-way ANOVA test, followed by the post hoc test, namely Duncan's test. Results: Ethanol extract of trembesi leaves at a dose of 175 mg/KgBW can reduce total cholesterol levels by 37.07% and LDL by 50.24%. Conclusion: ethanol extract of trembesi leaves at a dose of 175 mg/KgBW provides an optimal effect on reducing total and LDL cholesterol levels (p<0.05).

Abstract

Trembesi (Samanea saman (Jacq.) Merr.) is a plant from the Fabaceae family known to the public as Ki Hujan. Trembesi fruit and seeds have several chemical compounds there are alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and tannins which have analgesic activity. This study aims to determine the dose of an extract of the fruit and seeds of trembesi which has analgesic activity but does not cause side effects in the form of irritation to the stomach of rats (Rattus norvegicus) macroscopically. A total of 40 rats were in 8 treatment groups, namely a negative control group of 0.5% CMC-Na, a positive control group of 500 mg acetosal, a group of 3, 4, 5 extracts of trembesi fruit at doses of 100, 200, 300 mg/kg BW, group 6, 7, 8 extracts of trembesi seeds at doses of 100, 200, 300 mg/kg BW. 0.7% acetic acid was induced in rats intraperitoneally as a pain inductor. The analgesic activity test was using the writhing test method and then the extract was continued for 7 days to determine the safety of the rat gastric. Data were analyzed using non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis and Man-Whitney. The results showed that the optimal ethanol extract of trembesi fruit and seeds was shown at a dose of 200 mg/kg BW with an analgesic power of 75,74% and 76,79% equivalent to acetosal which was 81.74% (Sig. > 0.05) with an ulcer index of 2 or otherwise not showed irritation of the stomach seen from the results of macroscopic observations of gastric. This study concludes that the ethanol extract of trembesi fruit and seeds at a dose of 200 mg/kg has the best analgesic activity and is safe for the stomach. Abstract

Tanaman sereh merupakan golongan rumput-rumputan yang disebut Cymbopogon nardus, yang dapat ditanam pada tanah yang tandus atau kurang subur. Tanaman ini mudah dikembangkan dan telah dimanfaatkan untuk salah satu bahan masakan, namun pemanfaatan lebih lanjut masih dirasa kurang. Bagian batang dan daun sereh memiliki berbagai aktivitas, salah satunya sebagai pengusir nyamuk (repellent) karena adanya kandungan sitral dan citranellal (75-85%) geraniol dan kandungan lainnya yaitu linalool, metil heptenol, nerol, limonene, dan sitronela (Shah et al., 2011). Tanaman sereh merupakan tanaman yang banyak dijumpai di pekarangan rumah warga Desa Bulu. Kendala yang dihadapi oleh warga Desa Bulu adalah kurangnya pengetahuan dalam memanfaatkan sereh dan kurangnya ketrampilan warga mengenai teknis pembuatan sederhana pengolahan tanaman sereh. Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan warga dalam pembuatan minyak gosok sereh. Metode yang dipakai dengan melakukan workshop kepada kader PKK di Desa Bulu Kabupaten Kediri dilakukan secara tatap muka dengan protokol kesehatan yang baik, diawali dengan memberikan pretest kepada peserta, dilanjutkan dengan sosialisasi dan workshop dengan metode praktek langsung pembuatan minyak gosok relaksasi dan diakhiri dengan postest pada link https://forms.gle/1da323F7Wfb9HCjYA. Hasil dan kesimpulan diantaranya pemahaman dan ketrampilan Kader PKK Desa Bulu mengenai pengolahan tanaman sereh meningkat dari rata-rata 40% menjadi 83%. Warga Kader PKK Desa Bulu dapat memahami manfaat sereh dan cara pembuatan minyak gosok (Relaxing Message Oil).
