Abstract

Banyaknya industri makanan berbahan tepung membuat pengembangan tepung tapioka sangat menguntungkan. CV. S3a Bersaudara merupakan perusahaan yang memiliki berbagai macam usaha, salah satunya pengolahan tepung tapioka. Namun, kurangnya pasokan bahan baku ubi kayu, peralatan yang masih terbilang tradisional dan juga rendahnya penjualan membuat CV. S3a Bersaudara tidak dapat memenuhi permintaan pasar. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut: 1) Mengetahui metode pengolahan dan pemasaran untuk mengembangkan bisnis tepung tapioka; 2) Menganalisis dan menjelaskan metode pengembangan tersebut. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa strategi alternatif yang paling efektif untuk mempromosikan produk melalui berbagai media. Rekomendasi yang dapat diberikan kepada perusahaan untuk menerapkan tiga strategi alternatif yang dihasilkan dari penelitian ini sebagai prioritas utama yaitu memberi tahu informasi tentang kualitas produk dengan menggunakan bahan baku berkualitas tinggi, memanfaatkan media informasi agar memiliki banyak relasi, bekerjasama dengan petani agar pemilik usaha mendapatkan bahan baku yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan usaha.

Abstract

Gizi merupakan komponen penting dalam makanan yang berdampak pada pertumbuhan. Kesadaran terhadap gizi dalam makanan dan pola konsumsi  yang berimbang merupakan salah satu upaya untuk mencegah terjadinya stunting. Upaya ini dapat dilakukan dengan melibatkan kader PKK. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini yaitu bagaimana memberikan kesadaran  upaya pencegahan stunting melalui kesadaran gizi dan pola konsumsi pangan berimbang kepada kader PKK Desa Sabiyan Kabupaten Bangkalan. Metode yang digunakan pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini berupa  penyuluhan dan pelatihan, diskusi interaktif, serta partisipasi aktif.  Penyuluhan dilakukan dengan materi kesadaran gizi dan pola konsumsi pangan berimbang. Pelatihan yang diberikan berupa cara membuat inovasi produk olahan berupa nugget ayam dan sayur. Diskusi interaktif dan partisipasi aktif juga melengkapi kegiatan ini.  Hasil penyuluhan dan pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa setelah mengikuti kegiatan maka pemahaman kader PKK meningkat secara rata-rata dari sebesar 6,4 menjadi 8,5. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kader PKK memiliki pemahaman yang baik terkait gizi dalam makanan yang dikonsumsi. Hal ini menjadi modal awal untuk upaya mencegah stunting. Hal ini juga menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan pembuatan nugget ayam dan sayur memberikan ketrampilan dalam membuat produk apngan bergizi  yang mengandung protein hewani, serat vitamin dan mineral.

Abstract

Food security is a strategic issue in agricultural development. Dairy farmers in Tutur Subdistrict, Pasuruan Regency face problems of small-scale livestock ownership, which has an impact on low milk production and income. Limited capital and production facilities cause unstable income, which affects the ability to meet household food needs. Contract farming is a solution to overcome these problems. This study aims to identify the factors that influence farmers' decisions to join contract farming and analyze its impact on household food security. This study was conducted in Tutur District, Pasuruan Regency, with 96 respondents using a multistage sampling method. Data analysis used probit regression to identify participation factors and Propensity Score Matching (PSM) to estimate the impact of contract farming on household food security as measured using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES). The results showed that the number of livestock and farming experience had a significant effect on farmers' participation in contract farming. PSM analysis shows that contract farming reduces the FIES score by 1.586%. This indicates that contract farming significantly improves household food security.

Abstract

Food insecurity remains a persistent challenge among rural agricultural households, particularly among smallholder farmers whose livelihoods depend on unstable agricultural markets and limited institutional support. In dairy-producing regions of Indonesia, contract farming has emerged as a potential institutional mechanism to improve farmers’ market access and stabilize income. However, empirical evidence on how participation in dairy contract farming affects household resilience to food insecurity remains limited. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors influencing smallholder dairy farmers’ decisions to participate in contract farming and to examine differences in household food insecurity between contract farming participants and non-participants in Malang Regency, East Java. This study uses primary data collected from 100 smallholder dairy farming households through direct interviews using a multistage sampling technique in two dairy production centers: Pujon and Jabung. A Probit regression model was applied to analyze the determinants of contract farming adoption, and an independent-samples t-test was used to examine differences in household food insecurity, measured using the Food Insecurity Experience Scale. The results show that education and access to credit significantly influence farmers’ participation in contract farming. Education has a negative and significant effect, indicating that farmers with higher levels of formal education are less likely to participate in contract farming, whereas access to credit has a positive and significant effect, suggesting that financial resources facilitate farmers’ engagement in contractual production systems. Furthermore, the results reveal that dairy farmers participating in contract farming experience significantly lower levels of food insecurity compared to non-contract farmers. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening institutional market arrangements and improving farmers’ access to financial services to enhance the resilience of smallholder dairy farming households to food insecurity.

Abstract

The constraints of low financial literacy result in limited access to financial products and services, suboptimal financial management, and increased vulnerability to financial risks. This low level of financial literacy can hinder the economic progress and well-being of farmer households. This study aims to identify the determinants of financial literacy among farmer households on Madura Island. The research location was selected because it is known to have a low level of financial knowledge. A simple random sampling method was employed, yielding a sample of 123 households. Financial literacy was divided into three variables: knowledge, skills, and behavior. The results of the ordered probit regression analysis indicate that the variables positively influencing knowledge, skills, and behavior are age, education, income, access to credit, government assistance, and membership in farmer groups. Age negatively affects financial skills and behavior, while education positively influences financial knowledge. Household income has a significant positive effect on all dimensions of financial literacy, indicating the importance of improving the economic capacity of farmers. Conversely, membership in farmer groups has a negative effect on financial literacy, suggesting that the activities of these groups have not been optimal in enhancing their members' financial capacity. Additionally, government assistance without accompanying financial education has a negative impact on financial skills. These findings emphasize the need for educational interventions based on financial literacy that are more contextual and integrated with farmer empowerment programs. This study makes an important contribution to the literature on financial literacy in the agricultural sector and provides strategic recommendations for designing programs to improve the financial capacity of farmers in underdeveloped regions.
