Abstract

Piaget's cognitive theory has been used extensively in modern education, but it is not entirely free from criticism. The values of the Qur'an present a more holistic cognitive approach rooted in the value of spirituality. This study aims to reveal the relevance of the Qur'anic values in the context of Piaget's theory of cognitive development, so as to provide a more contextual guide to the needs of children's intellectual development. The type of research is qualitative descriptive with a literature study approach. Data collection is carried out by tracing data sources, including books, articles, news, and other related documents. The data analysis technique uses content analysis. The results of the study show that the Qur'an is relevant to the four stages of Piaget's cognitive theory, namely sensorimotor, pre-operational, concrete operational, and formal operational, reviewed from the rules and recommendations that must be carried out when a child passes through certain phases. The Qur'an contextually pays attention to the psychological development of children. The Qur'an has a theory that answers reality better, when Piaget's theory received criticism about the difference in children's cognitive abilities at the same age or phase, as evidenced by the discovery that concluded that there is a difference in children's cognitive level after 6-12 years. Based on the perspective of Qur'anic values, cognitive development does not have to be spurred by measuring the age of children specifically as formulated by Piaget's cognitive theory.

Abstract

This study aims to elaborate the role of language in character formation through the perspective of the Qur'an. Human life cannot be separated from language because all human activities allow the use of language. This research uses the literature review method to obtain the data. The result of this study is that language functions as a tool of social control that shapes character influencing people's attitudes and behavior. Use of language that 2 Good and right can prevent conflict and strengthen relationships between individuals. Religious teachings such as the Quran emphasize the importance of speaking well and politely, which is part of character building. Good mastery of Indonesian also plays a role in the development of intelligence and personality. Language learning which includes listening, reading, speaking, and writing helps instill character values such as honesty, responsibility, and courtesy. Environmental, emotional, and social factors influence the use of coarse language, so it is important to teach verbal control early. Thus, language is not only a means of communication but also a reflection of one's morals and character.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the way gender socialization affects the young people’s perception on men and women roles. This paper uses state-supported gender roles in the Soeharto era as a benchmark for gender ideology today. The government of Soeharto marked a pivotal moment in the development of the expected roles of men and women both in the public and private areas. The aims of this paper are: (1) to explore whether gender roles in Indonesia have shifted from the Soeharto era to the present, (2) to examine what messages are conveyed by TV, schools and social media as agents of socialization, and (3) to look at young people's perceptions of "ideal roles” for men and women. The data from this paper are from journal articles, books and dissertations written in English taken from Proquest database by using the specific key words. Article searches were also conducted on the internet with the same keywords, both in English and in Indonesian. This literature review shows that inspite of various progress in the educational and political sectors, contemporary gender roles in Indonesia are relatively the same as traditional gender roles in the Suharto’s era. Young people, both men and some women, consider jobs in the public area and leadership positions as male domains. On the other hand, domestic work is considered as women's work, even though women work full time outside the house. The discrepancy between social expectations and the reality of everyday life often causes the double burden and the stress among women.
