Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of ecological changes affecting the fishermen in the coastal area of Pomalaa District, Kolaka Regency, and how the local knowledge of the Bajo fishermen in Kolaka manifests. The results of the study indicate that the ecological changes in the coastal area are caused by massive nickel mining activities on the coast, which have an impact on the lives of fishermen in the coastal villages of Pomalaa District, namely Hakatutobu, Tambea, Sopura, and Oko-Oko villages. The forms of ecological changes are evident in the pollution of the environment in mangroves, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and other marine biota, even the damages to the community's fisheries cultivation such as sea cucumber, seaweed, and floating cage culture. The study also found that the Bajo fishermen's community is very dilemmatic in facing this reality, and there is no choice for fishermen other than to rely on their local knowledge, search for and catch marine products as their effort to meet their needs.

Abstract

One of the oral traditions that has developed to date in the Selayar Islands Regency is battki. Battik-battik belongs to the categories of folk songs. Battik-battik comes from the word ambatti which means to squeeze. The musical instrument used is the harp, therefore it is called battik- battik. Battik-battik is sung by men and women alternately on stage without using text, meaning this song is sung spontaneously. In the batti-batti folk song, there are cultural values sung by the singer, namely the culture of tabe, sipakatu and si usingnga'. So that in this study the authors used multi-disciplines, namely anthropolinguistics with the aim of exploring these cultures hidden in the text or song lyrics that are sung. Anthropolinguistics is a study that discuss the relationship or connection between culture and language. in anthropolinguistics studies examiners more how languages is used US a tools for social action. This research method uses qualitative research methods to explain a phenomenon in depth and is carried out by collecting data as deeply as possible.

Abstract

This study investigates the implementation and evaluation of the bilingual program for eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Negeri 1 Sidrap (MTSN). As globalization intensifies, bilingual education is becoming increasingly vital in preparing students for future academic and professional challenges. This research focuses on how the bilingual program is integrated into the curriculum at MTSN, with particular emphasis on its effectiveness in enhancing students' proficiency in both Indonesian and English.The study employs a mixed-methods approach to evaluate the program's impact. Quantitative data were collected through standardized language proficiency tests and academic performance records, while qualitative insights were gathered from interviews with educators, students, and parents. The research aims to assess the program's success in improving language skills, examine any challenges encountered during implementation, and provide recommendations for program enhancement. Preliminary findings suggest that the bilingual program has positively impacted students' language proficiency and academic performance. However, challenges such as insufficient teacher training and resource limitations were identified. The study underscores the importance of continuous evaluation and adaptation to address these challenges and enhance the program's effectiveness.This research contributes to the broader discourse on bilingual education by providing empirical evidence on the implementation and impact of bilingual programs in a specific educational context. The insights gained from this study are expected to inform policy decisions and practice in bilingual education, particularly in similar educational settings.

Abstract

Tulisan ini memaparkan makna dan nilai yang tedapat dalam teks kelong agama. Kelong agama adalah salah satu jenis kelong yang dimiliki etnik Makassar. Kelong agama berisi hakikat dan sifat Tuhan, rasa bakti dan kewajiban manusia terhadap Tuhan, serta menegenai akhlak manusia. Kelong agama mencerminkan pola pikir yang penuturnya. Di dalam teks kelong agama terkandung makna dan nilai-nilai kehidupan pendukungnya. Makna dan nilai-nilai yang terkandung di dalam kelong agama etnik Makassar dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori semantik secara deskriptif kualitatif, dan eksplorasi kelong agama perspektif nilai. Penulisan ini melalui tahap, seperti: penelitian pustaka, klasifikasi, terjemahan, dan menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian kelong agama menunjukkan bahwa terdapat dua jenis makna, yaitu makna denotatif dan konotatif. Teks kelong agama mengandung beragam nilai yang masih relevan dengan kehidupan sehari-hari, diantaranya nilai; kepercayaan, moral, religious, kepatuhan, kepribadian, pengetahuan, dan evaluasi diri.

Abstract

Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses akulturasi antara Islam dan budaya lokal terjadi dalam upacara pernikahan masyarakat Bugis di Kabupaten Sinjai, Sulawesi Selatan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami secara mendalam fenomena kompleks ini dengan fokus pada peran sistem pangadereng (adat) dan unsur sara’ (syariat) dalam upacara pernikahan. Metode penelitian yang diterapkan adalah penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan historis dan antropologi agama. Pendekatan ini dipilih untuk memungkinkan pemahaman yang holistik tentang dinamika budaya dan agama dalam konteks pernikahan Bugis di Sinjai. Data untuk penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara dengan pemangku adat, tokoh agama, dan pihak pemerintah setempat, serta dokumentasi lapangan. Selain itu, data dari literatur-literatur yang relevan juga dijadikan sebagai sumber informasi tambahan untuk mendukung temuan penelitian. Temuan kajian ini menunjukkan karakteristik unik dari adat pernikahan dalam masyarakat Bugis Sinjai, yang tercermin dalam serangkaian tahapan seperti mammanu’manu’, madduta, mappettu ada, mappacci, tudang botting, dan marola.Proses ini secara nyata mencerminkan adanya akulturasi budaya lokal pernikahan Bugis dengan ajaran Islam di Sinjai, menciptakan suatu bentuk akulturasi kulturalspiritual yang khas. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya pemahaman mendalam terhadap adat perkawinan masyarakat Islam Sinjai, terutama dalam konteks konsep pernikahan dan proses yang melibatkan upacara tersebut. Sebagai rekomendasi, disarankan agar masyarakat dan pemerintah setempat mengambil langkah-langkah strategis untuk mempertahankan dan menjaga keberlanjutan adat istiadat perkawinan yang masih eksis, sambil tetap memilah unsur-unsur budaya eksternal yang dapat diterima dan sesuai dengan ajaran Islam.

Abstract

Desa Mangepong, Kecamatan Turatea, Kabupaten Jeneponto, merupakan daerah yang sebagian besar penduduknya bekerja sebagai petani. Namun, keterbatasan pengetahuan dalam penggunaan pupuk ramah lingkungan menjadi tantangan utama. Feses sapi, yang melimpah sebagai limbah peternakan, memiliki potensi besar untuk diolah menjadi pupuk kompos bernilai ekonomis. Artikel ini membahas proses pengolahan feses sapi menjadi pupuk kompos menggunakan teknologi EM4 untuk mempercepat fermentasi. Program ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi masalah kelangkaan pupuk bersubsidi sekaligus meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Hasil program menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan feses sapi sebagai pupuk kompos berhasil menurunkan biaya produksi pertanian, meningkatkan kesuburan tanah, serta membuka peluang ekonomi baru bagi petani dan peternak. Dengan pendekatan ini, feses sapi dapat dimanfaatkan secara optimal untuk mendukung pertanian berkelanjutan, meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat, dan mengurangi ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia.

Abstract

This narrative review synthesizes empirical and theoretical insights on how emotions—such as enjoyment and anxiety—shape language learning. Literature was collected from Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and ERIC using keywords related to emotions, motivation, and affective dynamics in SLA. Positive emotions were found to enhance motivation, cognitive engagement, and communicative competence, while negative emotions, particularly anxiety, constrained attention and memory. Motivation emerged as a mediator linking emotions to achievement, and teacher–student interactions and peer support were identified as key drivers of emotional well-being. Cross-cultural evidence shows that systemic and cultural contexts significantly shape emotional experiences, while technology and affect-sensitive tools reduce anxiety and increase engagement. Policies that integrate socio-emotional learning, teacher training, and culturally responsive practices are essential. Future research should adopt longitudinal and mixed-method approaches to capture the dynamic interplay of emotions in SLA.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has brought new opportunities for preserving and revitalizing local languages in Indonesia. This study, titled “Transforming Bugis Language Learning through Digital Approaches: A Study of the MGMP Workshop in Barru Regency”, investigates the implementation of digital-based learning innovations for Bugis language teachers in Barru Regency. The workshop, attended by 30 members of the Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Bahasa Bugis, was designed to strengthen teachers’ competence in utilizing digital tools to enhance the teaching and learning of the Bugis language. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study explored participants’ experiences, learning outcomes, and perceptions toward the integration of technology in local language education. The findings indicate that the workshop significantly improved teachers’ understanding of digital pedagogy and their ability to design interactive learning materials using applications such as Quizizz, Baamboozle, and Canva. Participants reported higher confidence in developing engaging classroom activities that incorporate cultural elements of the Bugis language through multimedia and gamified platforms. Moreover, the workshop fostered collaborative learning and increased awareness of the importance of digital transformation in maintaining linguistic and cultural identity. This study concludes that digital approaches can play a vital role in transforming local language education by bridging traditional teaching with contemporary technological innovation. The MGMP workshop in Barru Regency demonstrates a practical model for empowering teachers and promoting sustainable language preservation in the digital era. The findings highlight the potential of integrating digital literacy and cultural education as complementary pathways to ensure that regional languages such as Bugis remain vibrant, relevant, and appreciated by younger generations.
