Abstract

This study aims to analyze the potential of local wisdom-based creative economy in Soaib Village, Kemtuk District, Jayapura Regency. Soaib Village has cultural wealth and abundant natural resources, including organic cocoa and orchids, which make it potential to be developed into a sustainable creative economy sector. This research used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using the SWOT method, explanatory analysis, and Geographic Information System (GIS) to map the potential of existing resources. The results showed that organic cocoa and orchids are leading sectors that can be the driving force of the local economy. However, there are significant challenges, such as limited infrastructure, lack of technical training, cocoa pests, and limited market access. Support from organizations such as WWF in providing training and mentoring has had a positive impact, especially in improving community skills related to forest product management and orchid cultivation. The SWOT analysis revealed several key factors: (1) strengths in the form of natural resources and active community participation; (2) weaknesses in the form of lack of infrastructure and capital; (3) opportunities in the form of global demand for organic products and government support; and (4) threats in the form of climate change and competition from other regions. With more structured and inclusive management, this potential can be maximized to support sustainable economic development. This research emphasizes the importance of local wisdom as a foundation in creative economic development, while maintaining environmental sustainability. The resulting strategic recommendations include improving infrastructure, strengthening technical training, strengthening local institutions, and promoting awareness about the importance of sustainability. With these steps, Soaib Village is expected to become an example of successful management of local wisdom-based creative economy that can be replicated in other areas.

Abstract

The presence of modern minimarkets such as Alfamidi in Heram District, Jayapura City, has had a significant impact on the sustainability of traditional grocery stores. This study aims to analyze the distribution pattern of Alfamidi and the socio-economic impact on grocery stores in Heram District. The research method used is a combination of quantitative and qualitative through surveys, interviews, and spatial data analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The results showed that Alfamidi's strategic location, modern facilities, and digital services provide a competitive advantage that attracts consumers, but at the same time causes a decrease in traditional grocery store revenues of up to 30%. Alfamidi's uniform distribution pattern with a wide range of services facilitates community access, but increases local economic inequality. Research recommendations include collaboration between minimarkets and grocery stores to create economic balance, as well as zoning regulations by the government to support small business sustainability. Using SWOT analysis, this research provides insights into the challenges and opportunities in maintaining local economic sustainability in the modern era.

Abstract

Kampwolker is one of the areas included in the Cyclops nature reserve, therefore all components of the ecosystem need to be protected and their development occurs naturally. However, nowadays there have been community activities that have caused land changes. The research method used in this research is mixed method and there are two data analysis techniques used, namely, overlay data analysis techniques and quantitative data analysis techniques. Overlay data analysis can produce land changes that increase every year, while quantitative data analysis techniques can produce community activities that have an impact on the Kampwolker protected area and efforts to overcome these problems. Land changes occur due to community activities. The impact is that the water discharge has decreased so that the Kampwolker river experiences drought.

Abstract

The transportation sector has a significant impact on the environment, particularly in terms of urban air pollution, congestion, and road damage. Nevertheless, transportation remains essential to support economic activity, education, and daily work. This study aims to determine the effect of land transportation infrastructure on congestion in Jayapura City. This research employed a qualitative approach, with data collected through questionnaires. The data were analyzed using simple regression analysis.  The results showed that land transportation infrastructure has a significant effect on congestion in Jayapura City. Based on the partial t-test using SPSS, a t value of -8.957 was obtained with a probability value (sig value) of 0.000. Since this probability value is smaller than alpha (5%), it can be concluded that land transportation infrastructure partially has a significant effect on congestion. This study confirms that the improvement and management of land transportation infrastructure is essential to reduce congestion in Jayapura City, which in turn can support economic activities, education, and daily work.

Abstract

The National Sports Week (PON) venue is used as a place for sports and to hold various matches. However, post-implementation of PON in Papua Province, there were many concerns that the venues built were not being used and utilised optimally according to their intended use. Apart from that, the high cost of maintaining venues for PON located in Papua Province was an obstacle for the government. The research applied a mixed qualitative and quantitative approach which was the answer to the research questions. The results of the research found data related to the use and physical condition of the PON venue which had been recapitulated by data from a note on the assessment index by each PON venue. Furthermore, Interview transcripts were also used as supporting data for research which discusses future strategies by the Sports and Youth Department in managing each PON venue so that they would be utilized continuously. Moreover, the researcher received input in the form of funds that focus on venue maintenance costs so that in the future it would be utilized consistently by many people and athletes who compete to carry the name of Papua Province in the sports sector. Next, it could also be developed into sports-based tourism to introduce sports equipment to the public and facilitate equipment in sports competition activities. Abstract

This study examines the socio-economic impact of Alfamidi minimarkets on traditional grocery stores in Heram District, Jayapura City. Using mixed methods including surveys, interviews, and Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, the research analyzed distribution patterns and competitive dynamics between modern and traditional retail. Results reveal a uniform distribution pattern of Alfamidi outlets strategically positioned near arterial roads, providing competitive advantages through modern facilities and digital services. This has resulted in up to 30% revenue decline for traditional grocery stores. The study employs SWOT analysis to identify challenges and opportunities, recommending zoning regulations and business collaboration to maintain local economic sustainability. The findings contribute to understanding retail transformation dynamics in developing urban areas and highlight the need for balanced economic growth strategies.

Abstract

This research aims to provide an understanding of community participation-based waste management in Gurabesi Village, Jayapura Utara District, Jayapura City. The main focus is to identify regulations related to waste management, community participation mechanisms, and factors that influence such participation. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, which aims to describe the phenomena that occur at the research location using socio-juridical analysis. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive qualitative techniques. The results showed that one form of community participation in environmental improvement efforts is by donating labor through direct participation. The community also holds meetings to participate directly in waste management. At the RT level, participation tends to be direct, while at the RW level it is more indirect. Based on Arnstein's categories, the level of community participation in Gurabesi Village can be classified at the Informing/Providing Information level. This level of participation is influenced by length of residence, where the longer residents live, the stronger their psychological ties to the environment. This research shows that community-based waste management in Gurabesi Village is not yet optimal, despite the participatory efforts of residents. Improved facilities and infrastructure as well as more intensive socialization on waste management are needed so that community participation can increase and waste management becomes more effective.

Abstract

This study analyzes the morphological form and development characteristics of the Petrosea City Park green open space in Mimika Regency, Central Papua. Using qualitative descriptive-analytical methods, this research examines road patterns, spatial configurations, and architectural elements as well as the physical, economic, and socio-cultural characteristics of park development. The results show that the park implements a radial pattern centered on a roundabout with clear hierarchical zoning, integrating Kamoro cultural landmarks through bronze statues. However, infrastructure limitations and underutilized economic potential indicate the need for integrated development to optimize the function of green open spaces in the context of mining cities in Eastern Indonesia.
