Abstract

This research aims to determine how differentiated learning is implemented in Catholic Religious Education subjects at Budi Murni 2 Medan Junior High School. The research method used is qualitative research, which uses data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are done through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Differentiated learning is motivated by ecological theory, multiple intelligences, zone of proximal development, and learning modalities.  Differentiated learning applied by Catholic Religious Education teachers is implemented through three aspects: content, process, and product differentiation. The results of the study found that Catholic Religious Education teachers have implemented differentiated learning well, but in its implementation, there are obstacles experienced by teachers, including time constraints, variations in students' abilities and learning styles, classroom management, and students' readiness. The implications of this research make students enthusiastic about participating in Catholic Religious Education learning. This enthusiasm is manifested through changes in the active participation of students in learning. The differentiation strategy can also fulfill learners' individual learning needs, increase their involvement and motivation in the learning process, and help them effectively achieve learning objectives.

Abstract

The religious Character of students becomes a special problem in class VII of SMP Negeri 01 Pancur Batu in carrying out Catholic Religious Education learning activities. The background of this research is because young people today are pampered with the ease of accessing various negative and free and unlimited information via the internet. the ease of access to the internet has influenced the mindset and the character of students. This is due to the lack of wisdom of students in Accessing the internet. So that it has an impact on the development of the religious character of students in the classroom during the learning processes. This Research uses a Qualitative Approach. Researchers collected data through observation, interview, and documentation. The research targets include the Catholic Religion Teacher and Students in class VII of SMP Negeri 01 Pancur Batu. The results of this study show how the teacher plays a role and becomes a role model or example to students, showing results to students to have more awareness or love and more good character. This can be seen from students who already understand religious character and have practiced respectful, polite, friendly, honest behavior, and have a sense of love for others.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis peran Dewan Pastoral Stasi dalam memfasilitasi pertumbuhan iman Orang Muda Katolik (OMK) di Stasi Hati Tak Bernoda Bunda Maria Tri Sakti Paroki Santo Yohanes Penginjil Mandala. Dalam konteks pastoral, Dewan Pastoral Stasi memiliki tanggung jawab besar sebagai gembala yang membimbing dan mendampingi umat terkhusus OMK dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan beriman. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode wawancara mendalam dan observasi partisipatif untuk menggali peran dan kontribusi nyata Dewan Pastoral Stasi terhadap pertumbuhan iman OMK. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Dewan Pastoral Stasi berperan penting dalam menyediakan program pendampingan rohani, pelatihan, dan kegiatan liturgi yang terstruktur dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan generasi muda. Selain itu, dukungan moral dan emosional yang diberikan oleh Dewan Pastoral Stasi terbukti efektif dalam memperkuat komitmen iman dan keterlibatan aktif OMK dalam kehidupan gereja. Temuan ini menekankan pentingnya peran Dewan Pastoral Stasi dalam menumbuhkan iman OMK yang dinamis dan berdaya guna.

Abstract

This article aims to understand the level of involvement of Catholic youth in the field of koinonia and to formulate strategies to increase their participation. Catholic youth, aged between 13 and 35 years and unmarried, play a crucial role in the development of the Catholic Church and are responsible for the sanctification of life and active participation in fellowship. However, the phenomenon shows that many young Catholics are losing interest in church activities and tend to be more attracted to worldly activities than spiritual ones. This creates a challenge in maintaining their engagement in the field of koinonia (fellowship). In this article, the author employs a qualitative approach, reviewing books and journals to elaborate on the content to be discussed. The results of this research indicate that the presence of Catholic youth in koinonia activities is very minimal, though their involvement in each activity is already active. Therefore, Catholic youth still need encouragement to increase their attendance in every Introduction group prayer activity, recollection, liturgical celebration, catechesis, and leadership training.

Abstract

The life of prayer within Catholic families is of paramount importance in strengthening spirituality and familial bonds while nurturing faith values. Document Familiaris Consortio No. 59-62 serves as a primary guideline in understanding Catholic family prayer practices. This research explores the implementation of prayer life in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, Parish of St. Michael Pangururan, utilizing qualitative research methods. The findings indicate that basic prayer practices, devotions, and daily prayers serve as crucial foundations in the spiritual life of Catholic families. Parents play a central role as the primary instigators of prayer, despite facing challenges such as children's indifference. Families actively engage in both liturgical and personal prayers, demonstrating their commitment to deepening their faith and relationship with God. These prayer practices bring about peace, harmony, and gratitude in the daily lives of Catholic families in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, serving as tangible evidence of lived faith enriching spirituality and strengthening the faith community in the pursuit of spiritual well-being. Thus, the prayer life within Catholic families in St. Agata Sitaretareon Station, Parish of St. Michael Pangururan, has been effectively carried out, with each family member participating in communal prayer in their daily lives.

Abstract

The Merdeka curriculum was introduced to enhance the quality of Indonesian education and bridge the gap with other countries. Student learning achievement, assessed through standardized evaluations, serves as a key measure of this improvement. This study aims to identify the difficulties faced by teachers in adapting their teaching methods, the challenges in developing instructional modules, and the issues encountered in assessing Catholic religious education. This qualitative study employed observations, interviews, and document analysis to collect data from Catholic Religious Education teachers. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that teachers have implemented the Merdeka curriculum. However, they face significant challenges in transitioning from traditional teaching methods, designing effective teaching modules, and conducting assessments in accordance with the new system. These difficulties highlight the need for additional support and training. The study reveals that inadequate dissemination and technical guidance hinder effective curriculum implementation. Teachers require structured training and resources to successfully integrate the Merdeka curriculum into their teaching practices. While the Merdeka curriculum has been adopted, challenges remain in its execution. To ensure effective implementation, comprehensive training and equitable distribution of curriculum resources are necessary. Further research is recommended to explore long-term solutions for improving teacher adaptation.

Abstract

Teaching modules are tools for teachers to implement learning. The preparation of teaching modules requires teachers to hone their high-level thinking skills to be able to innovate in the preparation of teaching modules according to context. So the preparation of teaching modules is the application of the teacher's pedagogic competence so that the technique of implementing learning in the classroom is effective and in accordance with the indicators of learning objectives. The purpose of this activity is to carry out training in writing contextual teaching modules for Catholic religion subjects for PAK teachers at the elementary school level in Karo Regency. To achieve these training objectives, this community service activity is packaged in five sessions, namely: 1. training socialization; 2. explanation of the concept of teaching modules for elementary school Catholic religious education; 3. training on the preparation of teaching modules; 4. practice of preparing teaching modules for elementary school teachers; and 5. evaluation of the implementation of teaching module preparation training to determine the development of teachers' abilities. The implementation of this teaching module preparation training activity involves giving participants' opinions on the systematic preparation of teaching modules. The target of this training activity is that teachers who teach Catholic religion subjects at the Karo Regency Elementary School level are able to develop context-based independent curriculum teaching modules that are in accordance with the needs of students. Overall, all training sessions for Catholic religious education teachers at the elementary school level in the Karo district went well, and the teachers followed them with great enthusiasm.

Abstract

Critical thinking is an important skill that students must possess in order to objectively analyze learning issues and make decisions about learning. Critical thinking can be enhanced through the creation of educational videos relevant to Catholic religious education. The goal of this training is to conduct a workshop on creating educational videos for students to improve their critical thinking skills. To achieve this training goal, the community service program involving faculty and students is designed in five sessions:1. Training socialization.2. Explaining the concept of improving critical thinking skills through training on creating educational videos.3. Training on creating educational videos. 4. Practice creating Catholic Religious Education (PAK) instructional videos. 5. Evaluation of the training implementation to assess the students' knowledge development. The training on the creation of educational videos includes the collection of feedback from the participants on the video creation process in order to improve the critical thinking skills of the students. The goal of this training is for students to be able to create educational videos that enhance their critical thinking skills. The impact of this training is that students will gain knowledge about creating educational videos and show an improvement in critical thinking skills in the process of creating engaging videos that are consistent with the characteristics of PAK learning.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the spiritual values of Saint Tarcisius and the spiritual values of altar servers in the Saint John the Evangelist Mandala Parish. Altar servers are Catholic teenagers who demonstrate high dedication in serving the Church and assisting priests during the Eucharistic Celebration without expecting any reward. The spiritual values held by the altar servers include serving with love and selflessness, humility, and being responsible for the entrusted tasks. This study employs a qualitative approach. The research location is in the Saint John the Evangelist Mandala Parish. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data collected from the field will be analyzed by reducing, displaying, and triangulating the data using both techniques and sources. The data collection technique used is snowball sampling. The informants in the study consist of 10 people: 7 altar servers, 2 altar server supervisors, and 1 parish priest. The results of the study show that altar servers embody the spiritual values of Saint Tarcisius and their own spiritual values in their service duties.

Abstract

Pentingnya penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis strategi yang diterapkan oleh guru Agama Katolik dalam menerapkan pembelajaran diferensisasi di Sekolah Menengah Atas dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran berdasarkan auditory, visual, dan kinestetik sehingga menghasilkan peserta didik yang memahami agama katolik. Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah mengetahui strategi guru dalam menerapkan pembelajaran diferensisasi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi ditambah dengan sumber-sumber relevan buku, artikel jurnal dan karya ilmiah terkait. Proses penelitian dimulai dengan observasi yaitu turun ke lapangan pelaksanaan penelitian untuk memperoleh gambaran terkait dengan pembelajaran diferensiasi. Wawancara dilakukan untuk menguatkan temuan observasi untuk mendukung kelengkapan data. Dokumentasi yakni mengumpulkan dokumen pendukung terkait dengan pelaksanaan pembelajaran diferensiasi mulai dari modul ajar dan materi pembelajaran. Tempat penelitian ini adalah Sekolah Menengah Atas Katolik Santo Yoseph Medan. Informan dalam penelitian ini adalah guru mata pelajaran, rekan guru, dan peserta didik. Temuan penelitian ini adalah guru pendidikan agama katolik telah menerapkan pembelajaran diferensiasi melalui diferensiasi konten, diferensiasi proses, dan diferensiasi produk. Dalam diferensiasi konten guru menyiapkan materi sesuai dengan gaya belajar peserta didik. Dalam diferensiasi proses guru melaksanakan pembelajaran seesuai dengan gaya belajar yang telah diperoleh. Dalam diferensiasi produk guru menemukan hasil belajar melalui evaluasi.
