Abstract

This study examines the use of the Canva platform as an innovative learning medium in Catholic Religious Education (PAK) at SMAN 1 Delitua. The background of this research is the urgency to adapt teaching methods relevant to the characteristics of the digital generation, which tends to be more responsive to visual and interactive content. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data was collected through a series of classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of lesson plan documentation and student work. Key findings indicate that Canva integration significantly increased the effectiveness and appeal of learning. Students demonstrated higher learning motivation because the teaching materials were presented in visually appealing formats, such as infographics and dynamic presentations, making it easier to understand complex theological concepts. Furthermore, Canva was shown to encourage teachers' creativity in designing and delivering materials. However, its implementation was not without challenges. The main obstacles faced included a lack of systematic technical training for teachers and limited supporting resources at the school, such as stable internet access and device availability. Nevertheless, the teachers' enthusiasm and commitment to continuous learning and adaptation were key factors in the success. In conclusion, Canva is a very effective and acceptable tool for transforming the PAK learning process at SMAN 1 Delitua to be more modern and relevant. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini mengkaji secara mendalam pemanfaatan platform Canva sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik (PAK) di SMAN 1 Delitua. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah urgensi untuk mengadaptasi metode pengajaran yang relevan dengan karakteristik generasi digital, yang cenderung lebih responsif terhadap konten visual dan interaktif. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, data dikumpulkan melalui serangkaian observasi kelas, wawancara mendalam dengan guru dan siswa, serta analisis dokumentasi RPP dan hasil karya siswa. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa integrasi Canva secara signifikan meningkatkan efektivitas dan daya tarik pembelajaran. Siswa menunjukkan motivasi belajar yang lebih tinggi karena materi ajar disajikan dalam format yang menarik secara visual, seperti infografis dan presentasi dinamis, sehingga mempermudah pemahaman konsep teologis yang kompleks. Selain itu, Canva terbukti mendorong kreativitas guru dalam merancang dan menyampaikan materi. Namun, implementasinya bukan tanpa tantangan. Kendala utama yang dihadapi meliputi kurangnya pelatihan teknis yang sistematis bagi para guru serta keterbatasan sumber daya pendukung di sekolah, seperti akses internet yang stabil dan ketersediaan perangkat. Meskipun demikian, antusiasme dan komitmen para guru untuk terus belajar dan beradaptasi menjadi faktor kunci keberhasilan. Kesimpulannya, Canva merupakan alat bantu yang sangat efektif dan dapat diterima untuk mentransformasi proses pembelajaran PAK di SMAN 1 Delitua menjadi lebih modern dan relevan.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the challenges of modern education that demand the development of critical thinking skills, where traditional learning often fails to go beyond memorization, especially in Catholic Religious Education (PAK). The focus of this research is to analyze the implementation of a deep learning approach as an effort to improve students' critical thinking skills in Catholic Religious Education (PAK) at SMA Negeri 1 Delitua. As a crucial step, this study used a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection through observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation analysis. Key findings indicate that teachers effectively implement deep learning through three main strategies: restructuring material to be more contextual, involving students in real-life projects based on Christian values, and using authentic assessments such as reflective journals. This implementation has proven successful in fostering various dimensions of critical thinking in students, including the ability to interpret, analyze, evaluate, and infer religious teachings in the context of everyday life. In conclusion, the deep learning approach is able to significantly improve students' critical thinking skills by integrating real-life experiences and reflection, thus transforming Catholic Religious Education learning into a meaningful process of character and faith formation. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh tantangan pendidikan modern yang menuntut pengembangan keterampilan berpikir kritis, di mana pembelajaran tradisional seringkali gagal melampaui hafalan, khususnya dalam mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik (PAK). Fokus penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penerapan pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam (deep learning) sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pelajaran PAK di SMA Negeri 1 Delitua. Sebagai langkah penting, penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam terhadap guru dan siswa, serta analisis dokumentasi. Temuan utama menunjukkan bahwa guru secara efektif menerapkan pembelajaran mendalam melalui tiga strategi utama: restrukturisasi materi agar lebih kontekstual, pelibatan siswa dalam proyek aksi nyata berbasis nilai Kristiani, dan penggunaan asesmen autentik seperti jurnal refleksi. Penerapan ini terbukti berhasil menumbuhkan berbagai dimensi berpikir kritis pada siswa, termasuk kemampuan untuk melakukan interpretasi, analisis, evaluasi, dan inferensi terhadap ajaran agama dalam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Kesimpulannya, pendekatan pembelajaran mendalam secara signifikan mampu meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dengan mengintegrasikan pengalaman nyata dan refleksi, sehingga pembelajaran PAK bertransformasi menjadi proses pembentukan karakter dan iman yang bermakna.

Abstract

Self-control is an important ability that students must have in facing various challenges in the school environment and social life. This ability reflects maturity in thinking, acting, and making decisions responsibly. However, the reality in the field shows that there are still many students who experience difficulties in controlling emotions, behavior, and choice of actions. This study aims to explore the role of Catholic Religious Education learning in strengthening self-control of grade X students at RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam High School. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The informants consisted of students, Catholic Religious Education teachers, and school principals. The results showed that students have developed self-control abilities, both in the aspects of controlling behavior, decisions, and cognitive, along with learning that integrates Christian values such as reason, taste, conscience, and conscience. The conclusion of this study shows that Catholic Religious Education not only plays a role in religious aspects, but also in strengthening students' character and self-control. These results open up opportunities for curriculum development and practice. ABSTRAKKontrol diri merupakan kemampuan penting yang harus dimiliki siswa dalam menghadapi berbagai tantangan di lingkungan sekolah maupun kehidupan sosial. Kemampuan ini mencerminkan kedewasaan dalam berpikir, bertindak, dan mengambil keputusan secara bertanggung jawab. Namun, kenyataan di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa masih banyak siswa yang mengalami kesulitan dalam mengendalikan emosi, perilaku, dan pilihan tindakan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi peran pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik dalam penguatan kontrol diri siswa kelas X di SMA RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan dokumentasi. Informan terdiri dari siswa, guru Pendidikan Agama Katolik, dan kepala sekolah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa telah mengembangkan kemampuan kontrol diri, baik dalam aspek mengontrol perilaku, keputusan, maupun kognitif, seiring dengan pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan nilai-nilai Kristiani seperti akal budi, rasa, hati nurani, dan suara hati. Pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik terbukti menjadi media efektif dalam membentuk sikap tanggung jawab, empati, refleksi diri, serta kesadaran moral siswa. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Pendidikan Agama Katolik tidak hanya berperan dalam aspek religius, tetapi juga dalam penguatan karakter dan pengendalian diri siswa. Hasil ini membuka peluang untuk pengembangan kurikulum dan praktik pembelajaran berbasis nilai di sekolah-sekolah Katolik yang lebih kontekstual dan aplikatif terhadap kehidupan nyata peserta didik.

Abstract

This study aims to explore teachers’ strategies in utilizing PowerPoint-based instructional videos in the subject of Catholic Religious Education at SD Budi Murni 2 Medan. The research was motivated by a gap between the ideal approach to religious education which should be engaging, interactive, and meaningful and the reality in the field, where conventional methods such as lectures and passive assignments still dominate. This descriptive qualitative study employed observation, interviews, and documentation for data collection. The findings reveal that teachers implement systematic strategies including structured learning objectives, contextually relevant and visually engaging material development, communicative media implementation through classical discussion, and evaluation via interactive quizzes and student reflection. PowerPoint media served not only as a visual aid but also as an interactive platform that encouraged active student participation, improved comprehension of faith content, and supported independent learning. The study concludes that digital literacy and contextual pedagogy are essential for effective use of instructional videos and recommends further development through teacher training and the integration of interactive digital technologies in religious education. ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap strategi guru dalam memanfaatkan media video pembelajaran berbasis PowerPoint pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik di SD Budi Murni 2 Medan. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari kesenjangan antara pendekatan pembelajaran agama yang diidealkan yakni yang menarik, interaktif, dan bermakna dengan kenyataan di lapangan yang masih dominan menggunakan metode konvensional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi guru meliputi perencanaan tujuan pembelajaran yang terstruktur, pengembangan materi yang kontekstual dan visual, implementasi media yang komunikatif melalui pendekatan klasikal, serta evaluasi melalui kuis interaktif dan refleksi siswa. Media PowerPoint yang digunakan tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai alat bantu visual, tetapi juga sebagai sarana interaktif yang mendukung keterlibatan aktif, pemahaman ajaran iman, dan pembelajaran mandiri. Strategi ini terbukti mampu meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Katolik baik dari aspek kognitif, afektif, maupun spiritual. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa literasi digital dan pedagogi kontekstual menjadi kunci dalam pemanfaatan media video PowerPoint yang efektif, serta merekomendasikan pengembangan lebih lanjut melalui pelatihan guru dan integrasi teknologi digital interaktif dalam pembelajaran agama.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya guru pendidikan agama katolik dalam mengatasi kenakalan remaja di Sekolah Menengah Pertama Swasta RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru Kabupaten Deli Serdang. Penelitian tersebut dilaksanakan di kelas XI- C Sekolah Menengah Pertama Swasta RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru pada semester genap tahun ajaran 2020/2021. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Teknik penentuan informan dilakukan dengan Purposive Sampling yaitu teknik pengambilan sampel dengan pertimbangan tertentu. Hasil penelitian menemukan bahwa guru PAK mengatasi kenakalan remaja dengan tiga upaya yang ditawarkan yaitu 1) upaya preventif yaitu mendesain pembelajaran yang menarik, 2) upaya kuratif dengan melakukan konsultasi terhadap orangtua, remaja, dan wali kelas, serta 3) upaya represif dengan memberikan hukuman/sanksi

Abstract

The study was conducted to analyze how the shaping of honest character and the responsibility of learners in the process of Catholic High School Deli Murni, Medan. This study demonstrates that 1) learners can learn and work on tasks independently through learning videos and power points given by teachers and honest learners can be seen when they are active in the proven learning by asking, the teacher must respond in teaching, having teachers repeat the given material, 2) the responsibility of learners in learning seen through the zoom application meeting is seen as learners come into zoom meetings without being late, giving assignments on time, using modest clothing during the study and carrying out prayer switch schedules both before and after class. Implementation of the Catholic learning process in zoom meetings is seen when 3) teachers begin learning with a conception activity of opening prayer, greeting learners and missionaries to see readiness for lessons. 4) the teacher's core activity shares the material screen with learners and allows learners to ask about given material. 5) the end of the teacher's learning gives conclusions and duties to learners as reflections during the learning process.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the efforts of Catholic Religious Education teachers in developing the affective abilities of students at RK Deli Murni Bandar Baru Junior High School. The informants in this study were PAK teachers, school principals, peer teachers and students. The method used in this study is a qualitative method with observation techniques, interviews and documentation. The findings of this study are the teacher presenting interesting material, looking neat while teaching, motivating students while teaching, building students' self-confidence by involving students taking turns leading prayers and singing when studying Catholicism. Students focus their attention on the teacher when explaining learning material.

Abstract

Tujuan Penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Peran Pembina Minggu Gembira Dalam Meningkatkan Kreativitas Guru Minggu Gembira Di Stasi Santo Markus Sei Mati Paroki Santo Konrad Martubung. Metode penelitian yang digunakan penulis adalah kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Jumlah Informan yang di teliti ada 6 Informan. Tempat penelitian di Stasi Santo Markus Sei Mati Paroki Santo Konrad Martubung. Teknik pengolahan data yaitu reduksi, display, dan verifikasi. Temuan Penelitian adalah pembina minggu gembira stasi Santo Markus Sei Mati telah berperan dalam meningkatkan kreativitas guru minggu gembira dan guru minggu gembira mampu menerapkan kreativitas dalam mengajar sekami melalui kreativitas doa, kreativitas tempat pertemuan, kreativitas acara pertemuan, kreativitas lagu dan gerak, kreativitas pewartaan Sabda. Pembina minggu gembira disarankan untuk mempertahankan dan melaksanakan peran untuk meningkatkan kreativitas guru minggu gembira. Guru minggu gembira diharapkan menerapkan kreativitas dalam mengajar Sekami.

Abstract

This thesis aims to find out the teacher's skills in class management to increase the activeness of student learning in Catholic Religious education subjects. The research method used by researchers is qualitative. Researchers used the results of observations, interviews, and documentation to observe and find out how the skills of teachers in class management increase students' active learning in Catholic Religion education at Kabanjahe 2 Catholic Senior High School. Informants in this research were Catholic religious education teachers as chritical informants, students as supporting informants, and peer teachers as additional informants. Catholic religious education teachers apply skills in classroom management where students are more active than before, starting from students who dare to ask questions, express opinions, and have group discussions. This can be seen from the average value of students' daily tests before the teacher applies skills in class management, namely 72. After the skills that the teacher makes in class management, the average value of students increases to 81 in cycle 1 and then increases again to 84 in cycle 2.

Abstract

Students' ability to understand PAK material partly depends on the teacher. Students must be able to follow the learning process in class clearly in order to understand the material in PAK. The reality that occurs in the field is that many students are not creative in addressing problems in life in relation to life in accordance with the teachings of their faith. Because students lack creativity, it causes many students to disrespect friends, disrespect teachers, parents and also people in the surrounding environment. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of teachers in developing students' creativity in PAK subjects at St. Thomas 4 Medan Elementary School. PAK teachers have an important role in guiding students in contrast to the role of teachers in general. Students at SD Santo Thomas 4 Medan experienced an increase in creativity, this can be seen from the achievement of creativity indicators, namely having a high drive, having high involvement, having great curiosity, daring to express opinions and beliefs. From the results of research or research see that PAK teachers at SD Santo Thomas 4 Medan are very instrumental in developing creativity in the learning process. 2. Student creativity in PAK learning has increased. This can be seen from the fulfillment of creativity indicators.
