Abstract

This research aims to assess the effectiveness of using 3D video "Cerita Rakyat Bengkulu" assisted by artificial intelligence to enhance the socio-emotional skills of 5-6-year-old children in Bengkulu City. The study employed a quantitative experimental method using a Pre-experimental Design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 15 children from group B at PAUD IT Auladuna, comprising 7 boys and 8 girls. Data collection techniques included observation and documentation. Analytical methods involved effectiveness testing, normality testing, and statistical hypothesis testing. The normality test results showed significance values of 0.200 for pretest and 0.172 for posttest, both greater than (>) 0.05, indicating normal data distribution. The research findings indicate significant effectiveness of using 3D video "Cerita Rakyat Bengkulu" with artificial intelligence in improving the socio-emotional skills of group B children at PAUD IT Auladuna in the year 2023/2024. The socio-emotional skills significance value of 0.000 was less than (<) 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05), thereby rejecting the null hypothesis (Ho) and accepting the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This suggests that the use of 3D video "Cerita Rakyat Bengkulu" assisted by artificial intelligence is effective in enhancing the socio-emotional skills of 5-6-year-old children at PAUD IT Auladuna in Bengkulu City.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning–Group Investigation (PBL–GI) learning model on students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills in the Women and Elderly Empowerment course. This research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design. The research subjects consisted of two groups: an experimental group that implemented the PBL–GI model and a control group that used conventional learning methods. The research instruments included a critical thinking test and a collaboration observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using normality and homogeneity tests, t-test, as well as N-Gain and effect size calculations. The results showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. The experimental group experienced a higher improvement in critical thinking and collaboration skills compared to the control group. The N-Gain value of the experimental group was in the moderate to high category, while the effect size indicated a strong influence. These findings demonstrate that the PBL–GI model is effective in enhancing students’ critical thinking and collaboration skills. Therefore, this model is recommended as an innovative learning alternative in the context of nonformal education and community empowerment.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a local wisdom–based children’s storybook entitled Bujang Awang Tabuang to enhance the creativity of Group B early childhood learners. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects involved 18 children in Group B. The validation results indicated that the storybook was categorized as highly feasible, with material expert validation reaching 85%, media expert validation 90%, and teacher evaluation 87%. The results of the limited field trial demonstrated an effectiveness rate of 89%. The novelty of this study lies in the systematic integration of Bengkulu local wisdom into the narrative structure, illustrations, and creativity-based pedagogical activities of the children’s storybook, which was empirically tested using early childhood creativity indicators. The findings confirm that local wisdom–based storybooks function not only as cultural literacy media but also as an effective strategy for creating contextual learning and stimulating creativity in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing metacognitive learning on improving students' critical thinking skills in the Identification of Learning Needs course in the Non-Formal Education Study Program, University of Bengkulu. The study used a quasi-experimental method with two groups, namely the experimental group that received metacognitive learning treatment and the control group that used conventional learning. The research subjects consisted of 60 fifth-semester students, with 30 students in each group. Data were collected through a critical thinking ability test that covered aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. The results showed that metacognitive learning had a significant effect on improving students' critical thinking skills. The average critical thinking ability score of the experimental group (81.7) was higher than that of the control group (64.5) by 17.2 points. The self-regulation aspect experienced the highest increase, indicating that awareness and control of the thinking process are key to successful learning. Thus, the integration of metacognitive strategies is important to implement in learning design in higher education to foster independence, reflection, and higher-order thinking skills that support lifelong learning.    Keywords: Metacognitive Learning, Critical Thinking, Students, Non-Formal Education, Identification of Learning Needs.

Abstract

Lempuing Subdistrict, Bengkulu City, has abundant herbal plants in residents' yards, but the community's knowledge and skills in processing them into healthy drinks are still limited. This community service activity aims to improve the knowledge, skills, and business readiness of housewives in processing herbal plants into healthy drinks. The implementation method uses a participatory extension approach with three stages: planning (observation and interviews), implementation (extension, demonstration, direct practice of making ginger tea and infused water), and evaluation using the CIPP model. The target of the activity was 20 housewives from RT 04, Lempuing Subdistrict. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the benefits of herbal plants and the dangers of consuming packaged instant drinks. All participants successfully practiced making herbal drinks independently with hygienic results. As many as 40% of participants expressed interest in developing this product into a home business. The hands-on training has proved effective in improving community skills while opening up economic opportunities based on local resources.
