Abstract

Background: Increased adolescent social media use can lead to lower physical activity. In addition, the growth of marketing of unhealthy foods and drinks is inevitable. In short, excessive social media use may negatively impact nutrition problems, eating behavior, and physical activities. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between patterns of social media use and nutrition status, eating behavior, and physical activity among adolescents in DKI Jakarta. Methods: The study was cross-sectional and involved 187 students from public high schools in Jakarta. Data was collected using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), the use of social media questionnaire, and an anthropometric assessment to measure body mass index for age. The statistical analysis used was the chi-square test. Results: No significant association were found between the frequency and duration of social media use and nutrition status. The type of exposure to social media content does not show a significant relationship with nutrition status, eating behavior, and physical activity. However, there were significant associations between frequency (p=0.022) and duration (p=0.003) of social media use and eating behavior. Likewise, there was a significant relationship between frequency (p=0.021) and duration (p=0.005) of social media use with physical activity. Conclusions: Duration and frequency of social media use are associated with riskier eating patterns and lower adolescent physical activity. Therefore, nutrition education in adolescents should also include topics on social media use.

Abstract

Background: Overnutrition is becoming more common in Indonesia, with 13.5% of adults overweight and 28.7% obese. A lack of physical activity, excessive food consumption, and high consumption of risky foods such as sugar, salt, and fat are risk factors for nutritional status. Objectives: To determine the factors that influence the nutritional status of adult food traders in Bogor Regency. Methods: Researchers used a cross-sectional design in this study involving 99 food trader respondents aged 26-45 years using a convenience sampling method. Data collection started from January to May 2023. Nutritional status was measured using the Body Mass Index and then classified based on PGN 2014. Meanwhile, data on sugar, salt, and fat intake was collected using SQ-FFQ (Semi Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire) and PAL (Physical Activity Level) to determine the respondent's level of physical activity. Data analysis was using Fisher's test and logistic regression. Results: Based on Fisher's test analysis, there was a significant relationship between salt intake (p=0.041), physical activity (p=0.002), and food traders classification (p=0.000) with nutritional status. Meanwhile, no significant relationship was found between sugar and fat intake with nutritional status. The results of the logistic regression test showed that the most influential factor of nutritional status was excessive salt intake. Respondents with excessive salt intake had a 6.03 (95% CI=1.07-33.76) times higher risk of experiencing nutritional problems. Conclusions: There was a relationship between salt intake, physical activity, and food traders' classification with nutritional status. Meanwhile, there was no relationship between sugar and fat intake with nutritional status. The factor that most influenced the nutritional status of adult food traders in Bogor Regency was salt intake.

Abstract

Pondok Pesantren Sirajussa’adah merupakan salah satu pondok pesantren di Kota Depok yang bergerak secara mandiri. Kemandirian dibuktikan dengan seluruh pembiayaan pondok pesantren berasal dari pendapat usaha yang dijalankannya. Usaha yang dikembangkan yaitu Tempe Santri, Madu Murni, dan Air RO. Masalah yang dihadapi Pondok Pesantren salah satunya adalah pemasaran yang masih terbatas serta produk tempe menghadapi harga kedelai yang naik turun dan masih terdapat tempe yang tidak terjual. Sehingga pendapatan Pondok Pesantren menurun. Pada pengabdian masyarakat ini, solusi yang diberikan yaitu  pengembangan produk tempe baru serta peningkatan pemasaran produk melalui media digital. Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan dari bulan Agustus 2023 sampai Agustus 2024. Langkah-langkah pengabdian masyarakat ini yaitu pelatihan pembuatan keripik tempe, pengembangan kemasan keripik tempe, pendampingan pengajuan sertifikat halal produk madu dan keripik tempe serta pemasaran melalui sosial media. Hasil dari kegiatan ini yaitu pondok pesantren memiliki produk baru yaitu keripik tempe, pondok pesantren memiliki sertifikat halal produk madu sholawat sirajus’saadah dan keripik tempe santri. Santri dan santriwati mampu membuat konten pemasaran dan edukasi menggunakan canva untuk untuk branding dan meningkatkan penjualan.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and determinants of hypertension in rural women of reproductive age. The cross-sectional study was conducted in Cianjur district on August 2019. It involved 193 married rural women aged 20–49 years old. Independent variables investigated were socio-economic characteristics, anthropometry, fat distribution and nutrient intake. The prevalence of hypertension in the study population using the new American Guideline (ACC/AHA) was 58% in contrast to 23.8% using the European (ESC/ESH) cut offs. Socioeconomic characteristics and nutrient intake showed no significant association with hypertension (p>0.05) while, Body Mass Index (BMI) (p>0.012), Visceral Fat (VF) (p>0.013) and Waist Circumference (WC) (p>0.010) were significantly associated with hypertension. Hence, result of binary logistic regression showed waist circumference is the strongest factor to determine hypertension in our study (OR=2.2; 95% CI: 1.20–4.01). Overall, the use of the American guideline increases the sensitivity of hypertension screening. The use of simple anthropometry measurement of WC combined with BMI can be applied for risk screening of hypertension in the primary health care setting including in the integrated community health post to improve preventive measure. Due to several limitations in the current study, future study should consider larger sample size and addresses history of hormonal contraceptive use as well as physical activity

Abstract

ABSTRAK Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melaksanakan screening kesehatan (status gizi dan risiko diabetes) dan meningkatkan pengetahuan kesehatan pada santri di Pondok Pesantren Sirajussa'adah Limo, Kota Depok. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengukuran antropometri untuk menentukan status gizi dan pemeriksaan kadar Glukosa Darah Sewaktu (GDS). Setelah screening, dilaksanakan edukasi interaktif mengenai Diabetes Melitus (DM). Edukasi diberikan melalui teknik ceramah dan pemberian buku saku. Hasil screening memberikan data awal profil kesehatan santri. Intervensi edukasi, yang diukur menggunakan pre-test dan post-test, menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan yang signifikan (p<.001), dengan rata-rata nilai naik dari 44,67 menjadi 75,46. Kegiatan ini diakhiri dengan penyerahan donasi alat ukur tinggi dan berat badan untuk mendukung pemantauan kesehatan mandiri dan berkelanjutan di lingkungan pesantren. Kata Kunci: Diabetes, Edukasi, Pondok Pesantren, Santri, Status Gizi ABSTRACT This community service activity aimed to conduct health screenings (nutritional status and diabetes risk) and enhance health knowledge among santri (students) at Sirajussa'adah Islamic Boarding School in Limo, Depok City. The methodology included anthropometric measurements to determine nutritional status and random blood glucose (RBG) level checks. Following the screening, an interactive education session was provided, focusing on Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Education is provided through lecture techniques and the provision of pocket books. The screening results provided initial data on the health profile of the santri. The education intervention, measured using pre- and post-tests, demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge (p<.001), with the average score rising from 44.67 to 75.46. The activity concluded with the donation of height and weight measurement tools to support sustainable and independent health monitoring within the boarding school. Keywords: Diabetes, Education, Islamic Boarding School, Students, Nutritional Status

Abstract

Nutritional status during primary school age is essential for optimal physical growth and cognitive development. Dietary transitions driven by modernization—including increased consumption of fast foods and sweetened beverages—may reduce the intake of nutrient-dense foods. This study aimed to describe the nutritional status and food preferences of students at SDN 2 Besakih, Karangasem, Bali. A cross-sectional study was conducted. Anthropometric measurements were obtained from all students present (n = 211) and assessed using BMI-for-age and height-for-age indicators based on WHO AnthroPlus standards. Food preference data were collected from 72 students selected through stratified sampling using a pictorial Likert-scale questionnaire. Data were analysed using univariate, bivariate, and multifactorial tests. Most students exhibited normal nutritional status, although both undernutrition and overnutrition were present. The leftward shift in BMI-for-age and height-for-age z-score curves indicated vulnerability to undernutrition and stunting. Female students demonstrated significantly higher preference scores for chicken dishes (p = 0.003) and milk-based or sweetened beverages (p = 0.009). Grade level influenced preferences for chicken dishes and beverages, with no significant interaction between gender and grade. Vegetable preference was relatively low across all groups. Primary school children in rural Karangasem face a double burden of malnutrition accompanied by shifting dietary preferences toward less balanced food choices. Strengthening school-based nutrition interventions, including nutrition education, healthy canteen programs, and routine growth monitoring, is critical to fostering healthy dietary habits early in life.

Abstract

Anemia pada remaja putri masih menjadi masalah kesehatan global dengan prevalensi yang cukup tinggi. Kekurangan zat besi, vitamin A, dan vitamin C merupakan faktor utama yang berkontribusi terhadap kejadian anemia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui potensi food bar berbasis tepung daun kelor, tepung mocaf, dan tepung ikan kembung sebagai pangan fungsional pencegahan anemia. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan desain Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor dengan tiga formulasi (F1, F2, dan F3) dan dua kali ulangan. Analisis kandungan zat gizi dilakukan dengan metode ICP-OES untuk zat besi serta HPLC untuk vitamin A dan vitamin C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa formula F3 memiliki kandungan zat besi tertinggi yaitu 3,62 ± 0,04 mg/g, sedangkan formula F2 memiliki kandungan vitamin A tertinggi sebesar 171,87 ± 2,35 mg/g. Kandungan vitamin C tidak terdeteksi pada semua formula, diduga akibat degradasi selama proses pengolahan termal. Secara keseluruhan, food bar berbahan dasar daun kelor, mocaf, dan ikan kembung memiliki potensi sebagai sumber zat besi dan vitamin A yang dapat mendukung pencegahan anemia pada remaja putri meskipun diperlukan strategi pengolahan lebih lanjut untuk mempertahankan vitamin C.

Abstract

Latar Belakang: Integrasi layanan gizi dalam manajemen bencana merupakan komponen penting untuk mencegah peningkatan malnutrisi pada kelompok rentan. Namun di Indonesia, integrasi Nutrition in Emergency (NiE) dalam kebijakan daerah belum optimal. Gempa bumi Cianjur 2022 memberikan konteks penting untuk memberikan gambaran sejauh mana kebijakan terkait bencana di daerah telah mengakomodasi aspek gizi. Metode: Analisis konten dilakukan terhadap 4.816 dokumen Jaringan Dokumentasi dan Informasi Hukum (JDIH) Kabupaten Cianjur (2022–2023). Seleksi bertahap menghasilkan 15 dokumen yang relevan. Analisis isi menggunakan lima domain: struktur kelembagaan, mandat fungsi, panduan operasional, integrasi gizi, dan pembiayaan. Data diperkuat dengan temuan lapangan dan wawancara pemangku kepentingan terkait respons gizi pasca-gempa. Hasil: Analisa dokumen menemukan bahwa meskipun terjadi penguatan struktur kelembagaan bencana, tidak ada regulasi yang secara eksplisit mengatur layanan gizi darurat, termasuk Pemberian Makan Bayi dan Anak (PMBA) dalam situasi bencana, maupun manajemen wasting. Dokumen tanggap darurat mengatur logistik dan komando, tetapi tidak memuat standar pelayanan gizi minimum. Implementasi gizi di lapangan berlangsung secara ad-hoc dan bergantung pada inisiatif tenaga kesehatan, bukan sebagai mandat kebijakan formal. Kesimpulan: Evolusi kebijakan kebencanaan di Cianjur belum mengintegrasikan NiE secara sistematis. Diperlukan peraturan daerah yang menetapkan layanan gizi darurat, struktur koordinasi, panduan operasional, dan pembiayaan untuk meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan gizi pada bencana mendatang

Abstract

Global autism prevalence is rising, necessitating specialized dietary management. While gluten-free and casein-free (GFCF) diets, along with Omega-3 and antioxidant-rich foods, are recommended to manage symptoms and support brain development, many children with ASD still face significant nutritional challenges. This study aims to describe dietary patterns and preferences for vegetables and fish among children with autism in the Jabodetabek area. This mixed-methods cross-sectional study involved 112 parents of children with autism, selected via cluster random sampling. Data were collected using Food Frequency Questionnaires (FFQ), 2x24-hour food recalls, and in-depth interviews. White rice, tempeh, chicken, and spinach were the primary food sources consumed. Notably, 97% of children still consumed gluten and casein. While a majority expressed a preference for vegetables (61.6%) and fish (81.25%), driven by daily consumption habits, significant macronutrient deficiencies were identified. Specifically, 76.7% of children had insufficient carbohydrate intake, 60.7% lacked adequate fat, and 46.4% were protein-deficient. Autistic children exhibit substantial macronutrient deficits and low adherence to GFCF diets. These findings highlight a critical need for improved dietary education and nutritional interventions for this population.

Abstract

Stroke is a serious public health issue and the main cause of disability and death after ischemic heart disease. Every year, 12.2 million individuals worldwide suffer from a stroke, which results in 6.5 million deaths. There has been an increasing incidence of stroke in Indonesia, including in North Sulawesi. This study aims to examine the risk factors for stroke incidence in North Sulawesi in a population aged ≥35 years based on the 2018 Indonesia Basic Health Research data. This quantitative research was an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design. The Chi-square test and multiple logistic regression were performed during data analysis involving 7,111 respondents. The multivariate analysis results showed that hypertension (p=0.000; AOR 8.739; 95% CI 5.758-13.263), physical activity (p=0.000; AOR 2.771; 95% CI 1.944-3.948), gender (p=0.000; AOR 2.047; 95% CI 1.388-3.017), heart disease (p=0.015; AOR 1.919; 95% CI 1.133-3.250), age (p=0.008; AOR 1.669; 95% CI 1.144-2.434), occupation (p=0.008; AOR 1.693; 95% CI 1.145-2.504), and fatty foods consumption (p=0.023; AOR 0.603; 95% CI 0.390-0.932) had a significant correlation with stroke incidence in this study. The main finding of this study shows that hypertension is the most influential risk factor for stroke incidence in a population aged ≥35 years in North Sulawesi. Regular blood pressure screenings are needed as an early hypertension detection effort to prevent stroke incidence.
