Abstract

Authentically integrating sustainable communication within the luxury industry requires more than mere polished words and certificates. The instance of John Hardy, a heritage jewelry firm based in Bali, exemplifies how legacy, location, and cultural continuity can transform sustainability from a mere marketing assertion into a tangible narrative. Internal reflections and narrative analysis indicate that selective transparency, nuanced multi-channel storytelling, and observable cultural norms enable the brand to reconcile the dichotomy of openness and exclusivity while maintaining its prestige. Daily rituals, traditional craftsmanship, and local community connections serve as evidence that enhances confidence, mitigates skepticism, and captivates varied audiences beyond superficial environmental assertions. Alignment among brand history, operational capacity, and cultural foundation is essential for credibility in sustainability communication. This study illustrates how sustainability can be seamlessly integrated into brand identity, legacy storytelling, and daily experiences, contributing to the ongoing discourse on how luxury companies should convey sustainability as an expression of continuity, locality, and engagement.

Abstract

Cianjur, West Java, is one of the areas with a  high level of disaster threats according to the Indonesia Disaster Risk Index report in 2022. One of the disaster threats is the 100-kilometer long Cimandiri Fault in West Java which is the oldest fault, not to mention the danger of landslides. .  Gunung Padang  is a disaster-prone area,  making  Gunung Padang at risk of being affected by tectonic earthquakes because it is situated between earthquake generating lines divided into fault segments that cross 17 districts in Sukabumi, Cianjur and Bandung. Religious and cultural aspects often play an important role in disaster mitigation, especially in communities with strong religious and cultural values. This research aims to analyze spiritual-based disaster communication in the Gunung Padang area, West Java. This research used descriptive qualitative methods and collected data through semi-structured interviews. The data used for this research is primary data to be obtained directly from the first source or original source,  including community leaders and local government by using observation and interview techniques. Meanwhile, the secondary data is obtained  from other supporting documents. The results of this study show that the people of the Gunung Padang area traditionally uphold and maintain the wisdom and spiritual aspects of Lok which have an important role in conveying disaster mitigation messages. This study also highlights the importance of local beliefs, which shape the community's disaster awareness and influence their thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors. The religious aspect of local wisdom encourages harmony with nature and prevents its exploitation. Spiritual communication plays a significant role in the lives of the Gunung Padang community and is an essential aspect of disaster awareness, which is based on the integration of knowledge, skills, and local wisdom.

Abstract

The long-standing use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides has created habits and dependency among farmers. Inorganic materials have become commonplace and it seems as if there are no other options to use as farming inputs. Basically, synthetic-based agricultural production materials can damage the environment and potentially harm farmers. Most farmers in the Subak Wengaya Betan Farmers Group have switched from using inorganic materials to organic ones up to now. This should serve as an example of how farmers in Subak Wengaya Betan can adopt organic farming innovations. This research aims to analyze the diffusion process of organic agricultural communication innovations as an effort to mitigate climate change in the Subak Wengaya Betan Farmers Group, Bali Province. The main process in qualitative research was chosen to obtain in-depth results through the data collection stage using interviews, observations, and other documentation to gather detailed information as data collection techniques. The results of this study indicate that effective steps that can be accepted by farmers to transition to organic farming include the development of a social system closely tied to local wisdom, along with the active participation of customary or village officials who possess and earn the trust of the community. Abstract

Purpose. This study examines the effect of ESG communication on brand trust among Fore Coffee Indonesia consumers and investigates the mediating role of green marketing in this relationship, addressing how ESG communication is translated into consumer trust within a local post-IPO food and beverage context. Method. A quantitative explanatory design was used with a purposive survey of 180 Fore Coffee consumers who had recent purchase experience and exposure to the brand’s ESG-related communication. Data were analyzed using a two-stage Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) approach: Stage 1 generated latent variable scores for lower-order constructs; Stage 2 used those scores to estimate higher-order structural relationships among ESG communication, green marketing, and brand trust. Findings. Results indicate that ESG communication significantly strengthens green marketing practices, which in turn have a strong positive effect on brand trust. The direct effect of ESG communication on brand trust is relatively weak, while the indirect effect through green marketing is significant, confirming green marketing as a key mediating mechanism. Conclusion. ESG communication enhances brand trust primarily when operationalized through credible green marketing practices; sustainability communication alone is insufficient to build consumer trust without consistent implementation in the marketing mix. The study clarifies the mechanism linking ESG communication and brand trust and offers practical guidance for integrating ESG strategies with green marketing execution.

Abstract

Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) technologies represent a pivotal technological advancement to mitigate the climate crisis by capturing and repurposing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. However, their viability is often questioned, with opposition rooted in skepticism about safety, effectiveness, and environmental risks. This study examines these perspectives alongside the development, research efforts, and milestones achieved by CCUS technologies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. By analyzing media representations and activist perspectives, this study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of how CCUS is framed in public discourse and to propose effective communication strategies that can foster a more informed and supportive attitude. The results underline the importance of engaging local communities through educational initiatives and partnerships with trusted stakeholders particularly organizations to demystify CCUS technologies. Public perception remains a critical factor, as misrepresentations and fear perpetuated by media and advocacy groups hinder broader acceptance. The opposition is primarily driven by narratives that frame CCUS as a costly, ineffective, and risky technology that serves to prolong the fossil fuel industry. A shift in the narrative surrounding CCUS is needed, emphasizing its role in economic opportunities and sustainability, which is very crucial for the successful implementation in Indonesia and beyond.
