Abstract

The background of of this research was the tendency of smoking behavior that was not only dominated by adults, but also the youth (high school), both inside and outside of school. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence with a tendency to smoke at high school students. This study was a correlational study, the independent variable (X) was emotional intelligence, the ability to recognize our own feelings and the feelings of others, the ability to motivate oneself, as well as the ability to manage emotions well in ourselves and in relationships with others. The dependent variable (Y) was the tendency of smoking, which is the inclination to perform activities in accordance with the desire for an activity without any coercion from outside but from within the individual himself. The subjects of this study were students of class XII SMK 3 Buduran in Sidoarjo totaled 392 students, and the number of samples were 186 students (based on Table Krejcie with error level of 5%), which was taken by simple random sampling. Data collection instruments such as emotional intelligence scale and scale trends in smoking. Data were analyzed using statistical analysis Pearson Product Moment correlation. The analysis showed there was a significant negative relationship between emotional intelligence and trends in smoking (r = -0.711; ρ = 0.000; ρ <0.05). This result means, higher emotional intelligence, the lower the tendency of smoking in class XII SMK 3 Buduran in Sidoarjo, and vice versa.

Abstract

This research conducted because of many college student have problems associated with their learning process, examples : learning achievement down, relation problems with their parent or friends, adaptation with new environment or rules, etc., but theres no right place, like guidance and counseling, that can help have the college student that have difficulty solving their problems at the college. There 4 (four) aims of this research are : (1) If guidance and counseling services needed, (2) Whether college student will take advantage of the guidance and counseling services, (3) What kind of guidance and counseling services they need, (4) What factors that make student college need guidance and counseling services.The variable of this research is the need of guidance and counseling services at the college. This variable means the need of psychological assistance from professionals who have the expertise and authority to give guidance and counseling servives to individu who are in college which aims to help solving problems so that the student develop optimally in accordance with their potential.The population of this research are 6.163 college student of Univesitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo 2014-2015. The sample taken with the technique non probability sampling taken using incidental sampling method. Determination of the number of samples based on the Issac Michael Table (with standart error of 1%) and representative samples obtained as 598 student, but samples collected 638 student.The analysis that used in this research is descriptive analysis with analysis of the percentage. The result show that 77,4% students think that the guidance and college services required at college, and 78,06% students will utilize the available guidance and counseling services. The form of services that most needed is Guidance and counseling services (19,2%), dan 18,37% student will utilize the services when they have a difficult problem solved.

Abstract

This research was conducted because it was motivated by the demands of Islamic-based schools (MTs) for their students. Where students must learn general subjects and subjects regarding religion, so students must understand them at once. This makes the teaching and learning process in schools spend more time than schools in general. This triggers the emergence of academic stress in students. This research was conducted with the aim to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress of students at MTs Negeri 1 Pasuruan. This type of research is quantitative research using a correlational approach. The variables in this study were the self-efficacy variable as the independent variable while the academic stress variable was the dependent variable. The measuring instrument used is a Likert scale measuring instrument with the population involved in this study, namely students of class IX at MTs Negeri 1 Pasuruan as many as 366 students. Based on the table of Issac and Michael, the total population of 366 with an error rate of 5% is between 380, so the sample used in this study was 182 students. The technique used is simple random sampling technique. Analysis of research data using product moment correlation using the help of the SPSS 16.0 for windows program. The results of the analysis show a value (-0.465) with a significance value of 0.000. So, there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress. This means that the hypothesis given by the researcher can be accepted by the acquisition of the value of the effective contribution of self-efficacy with academic stress of 21.6%. Reliability on the self-efficacy scale showed a result of 0.908 while on the academic stress scale showed a result of 0.892.

Abstract

Recently, cases about the aggressiveness of football fans are increasingly being reported in the mass media. Emotional maturity is one of the factors that triggers the emergence of aggressiveness in football fans. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between emotional maturity and aggressiveness in the football supporters group X in Gedangan sub-district. This study uses a correlational quantitative approach. In this study used a sample of 108 people obtained from sampling using purposive sampling technique. The data collection technique was carried out using the aggressiveness scale and emotional maturity scale, which were compiled using a Likert scale. The data were analyzed by testing the hypothesis using the Pearson Correlation Product Moment with the help of the SPSS v.19 for windows program. The results showed a correlation coefficient of -.961 (significant. 0.000 <0.05). Thus, the research hypothesis is accepted, that there is a significant negative relationship between emotional maturity and aggressiveness in the football supporters group X in Gedangan sub-district. A person's high emotional maturity will have an impact on low aggressiveness. Conversely, a person's low emotional maturity will result in an increase in aggressiveness. In addition, it is known that half of all X football supporters in Gedangan sub-district (52.8%) have low emotional maturity. Meanwhile, in terms of aggressiveness, half of all X football supporters in Gedangan sub-district (54.6%) show high aggressiveness. . Meanwhile, the results of the coefficient of determination test show that the emotional maturity variable has an influence of 77.5% on the aggressive behavior variable.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the influence of mother's education level and employment status on children's readiness for elementary school. Employing a quantitative comparison method, data from 194 children were collected through the NST test and a parental questionnaire. The school readiness, mother's education level, and employment status were assessed. Statistical analysis using SPSS 16.0 and the Anova and t-test techniques revealed that neither the mother's education level (F = 1.139, Sig. = 0.340 > 0.05) nor the employment status (t score = -0.763, Sig. = 0.446 > 0.05) significantly influenced the school readiness of the children. These results suggest that other intervening variables such as parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and child's motivation may be more crucial determinants of a child's preparedness for school. This study offers a novel perspective to parents, educators, and developmental psychologists by challenging conventional assumptions about mother's influence on children's school readiness. Highlights: A mother's education level doesn't significantly influence a child's readiness for elementary school. A mother's employment status (working or non-working) also doesn't significantly affect a child's school readiness. Other factors like parenting styles, socioeconomic status, and child's motivation could be more influential on a child's preparedness for school. Abstract

This study aims to define whether there is a relationship between social support and academic procrastination in completing tasks for SMA 'Cendekia' Sidoarjo students. This research uses correlation quantitative conducted in SMA Cendekia with a total sample of 113 students, taken by saturated sampling. Data collection techniques in this study used two psychology scales models of Likert, namely the social support scale and the academic procrastination scale. These results write down that there is a negative relationship between social support and academic procrastination in completing tasks for SMA Cendekia Sidoarjo.

Abstract

Stuttering is a speech disorder characterized by repeating sounds, syllables, or prolonging sounds. Individuals with a stutter know precisely what they want to say but have difficulty producing a regular flow of speech. Stuttering, which may be accompanied by behaviors such as rapid eye blinking or lip trembling. This study aims to determine the relationship between self-concept and peer support with social anxiety in stutter survivors in the Indonesia Stuttering Community. The sample for this study was 209 members of the Indonesia Stuttering Community out of a population 0f 537 members. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique with criteria of individual who have speech disorders (stuttering) and are part of the ISC community. Data collection uses three psychological scale, namely self-concept scale, peer support scale and social anxiety scale. The result of this study indicate that the effective contribution value is 46.1%, It can be concluded that there is an influence betweet self-concept and peer support on social anxiety among stuttering survivors who are part of the ISC community.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan karena ditemukannya fenomena masalah yang berkaitan dengan flow akademik, dimana siswa mengaku kurang fokus mengikuti aktivitas pembelajaran, apalagi yang mengharuskan siswa mengikuti pembelajaran secara penuh, lebih fokus dengan chat dari teman saat guru menjelaskan materi pembelajaran, juga ajakan keluar kelas atau ke kantin dari teman pada saat pembelajaran berlangsung, dan kurang ada dorongan untuk mengerjakan sendiri tugas yang diberikan guru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial dengan flow akademik pada siswa SMA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif kolerasi. Subyek penelitian ini adalah siswa di SMA Yadika Bangil berjumlah 193 siswa.. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan 2 skala psikologi yaitu skala dukungan sosial dan skala flow akademik. Teknik analisis data menggunakan statistik korelasi Product Moment yang perhitungannya menggunakan SPSS 20.0 for windows. Hasil analisis data diperoleh koefisien korelasi rxy = 0,324 dengan signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (<0,05). Hasil dari penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa ada hubungan positif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial dengan flow akademik siswa. Dengan demikian, semakin tinggi dukungan sosial yang diterima maka semakin tinggi pula flow akademik siswa. Begitupun sebaliknya, semakin rendah dukungan sosial maka semakin rendah pula Flow akademik siswa

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of self-regulation and self-efficacy on academic procrastination in working Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo University students. This study uses correlational quantitative methods. The population in this study amounted to 2,708 students with a sample of 310 students of Muhammadiyah SidoarjoUniversity who worked based on the Isaac and Michael table with an error rate of 5%. The sampling technique used was simple random sampling. Data collection in this study used an academic procrastination scale, a self-regulation scale, and a self-efficacy scale. The data analysis technique in this study used multiple regression analysis techniques assisted by the JASP statistical program version 16 for windows.  The results showed that self-regulation and self-efficacy can affect academic procrastination with a value of F = 71.705 and a significance of 0.001 (p < 0.05), meaning that there is a significant influence between self-regulation and self-efficacy on academic procrastination in working Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo University students. For further research, you can use subjects with a wider scope that are not within the scope of just one university in order to obtain more representative results._____________________________________________________________Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh regulasi diri dan efikasi diri terhadap prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo yang bekerja. Populasi dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 2.708 mahasiswa dengan sampel sebanyak 310 mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo yang bekerja didasarkan pada tabel Isaac dan Michael dengan taraf kesalahan sebesar 5%. Teknik sampling yang digunakan yaitu simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan skala prokrastinasi akademik, skala regulasi diri, dan skala efikasi diri. Teknik analisis data dalam peneltian ini menggunakan teknik analisis regresi ganda (multiple regression analysis) dibantu dengan program statistik JASP versi 16 for windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa regulasi diri dan efikasi diri dapat memengaruhi prokrastinasi akademik dengan nilai F = 71.705 dan signifikansi sebesar 0,001 (p < 0,05) artinya terdapat pengaruh secara signifikan antara regulasi diri dan efikasi diri terhadap prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo yang bekerja. Bagi penelitian selanjutnya dapat menggunakan subjek dengan cakupan yang lebih luas yang dimana tidak dalam lingkup satu universitas saja agar memperoleh hasil yang lebih representatif.

Abstract

Tujuan dilakukan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara school well-being dengan motivasi berprestasi pada siswa SMK. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kuantitatif jenis korelasional. Variabel yang digunakan yakni school wellbeing sebagai variabel bebas dan motivasi berprestasi sebagai variabel tergantung. Populasi penelitian ini yakni siswa SMK sejumlah 180 siswa. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari 119 siswa yang dipilih dengan teknik proportional random sampling. Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan skala school wellbeing dan motivasi berprestasi. Skala motivasi berprestasi dalam penelitian ini mengacu aspek motivasi berprestasi McClelland yang diadopsi dari penelitian Sinurat dengan koefisien reliabilitas 0,985. Sedangkan skala school well-being menggunakan aspek school well-being Alanen, Konu dan Rimpela yang diadopsi dari penelitian Kalsum dengan koefisien reliabilitas 0,851. Analisis data dilakukan dengan uji korelasi Product Moment Pearson. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,448 dengan signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (< 0,05) sehingga uji hipotesis dalam penelitian ini diterima, yaitu terdapat hubungan positif antara school well-being dengan motivasi berprestasi. Pengaruh variabel school well-being terhadap motivasi berprestasi sebesar 20,1%. Dengan demikian ada pengaruh dari faktor-faktor lain yang mempengaruhi motivasi berprestasi sebesar 79,9%.
