Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the simultaneous and individual effects of conformity and life satisfaction on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among students at Muhammadiyah 2 Senior High School Sidoarjo. Method: Employing a correlational quantitative design, the study involved 270 students selected from a population of 1,146 using accidental sampling. Data were collected using validated scales for conformity (α = 0.860), life satisfaction (α = 0.807), and FoMO (α = 0.898). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the JASP statistical software. Results: The findings indicate that conformity and life satisfaction simultaneously have a significant influence on FoMO (F = 57.363, p < 0.001). Individually, conformity positively and significantly influences FoMO (t = 3.289, p = 0.001), while life satisfaction has a significant negative influence on FoMO (t = -9.553, p < 0.001), suggesting that higher life satisfaction is associated with lower levels of FoMO. Novelty: This study contributes new insights into the psychological mechanisms underlying FoMO among adolescents by highlighting the dual role of social conformity and subjective well-being, particularly within the context of Indonesian high school students.

Abstract

Objective: Academic procrastination is a tendency or common habit of delaying to start and complete the implementation of necessary tasks, in order to achieve certain goals. The phenomenon found is that there are still students with a high level of academic procrastination. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between time management and self-control and academic procrastination in vocational high school students. Method: This research method uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research population was 340 students with 172 students as samples. The sampling technique used is stratified random proportional sampling. The data collection technique used a time management scale with a reliability value of 0.886, a self-control scale with a reliability value of 0.831 and a procrastination scale with a reliability value of 0.892 with a Likert scale model. The data analysis technique uses multiple correlation with the JASP program. Results: The results of this study showed an F value of 448.991 (p = < 0.001 < 0.05) which means that time management and simultaneous self-control have a significant relationship with academic procrastination. The results of Pearson's correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative relationship between time management and academic procrastination (r = -0.520), with a p-value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), and there was a significant negative relationship between self-control and academic procrastination (r = -0.739), with a p-value of < 0.001 (< 0.05). Novelty: This study highlights the simultaneous influence of time management and self-control on academic procrastination among vocational high school students, providing insights into behavioral aspects that have not been extensively explored in this specific student group.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the relationship between celebrity worship and self-control with subjective well-being among members of the NCTZen X community, a fan group dedicated to the K-Pop group NCT. Method: Employing a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected from 177 respondents in Sidoarjo using accidental sampling. Participants completed an online questionnaire comprising the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS), the Perceived Control Scale (PCS), and two subjective well-being instruments: the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). Results: The analysis revealed a significant relationship between celebrity worship and self-control with subjective well-being (R = 0.738; p < 0.05). Celebrity worship exhibited a negative correlation with subjective well-being (r = -0.563), while self-control demonstrated a positive correlation (r = 0.662). These findings indicate that excessive idolization is associated with reduced psychological well-being, whereas higher self-control correlates with improved well-being. Novelty: This study contributes to the limited literature by simultaneously examining the dual influence of celebrity worship and self-control on subjective well-being within a specific K-Pop fan community, highlighting the psychological dynamics of fandom engagement.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the correlation between students' levels of resilience and the severity of their quarter-life crisis. Method: Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, the research involved 160 students from STIKES Majapahit Mojokerto, selected through a saturation sampling technique. Data were collected using validated scales on resilience and quarter-life crisis, and analyzed using Pearson correlation. Results: The findings indicate a statistically significant negative correlation between resilience and quarter-life crisis (r = -0.260, p < 0.05), suggesting that higher levels of resilience are associated with lower levels of quarter-life crisis among students. Novelty: This study contributes to the limited body of research that addresses the protective role of resilience during early adulthood, particularly among students in Indonesia who are navigating the critical transition into the workforce and independent adulthood. While the quarter-life crisis is a well-known construct in developmental psychology, this research uniquely highlights resilience as a key mitigating factor in this specific cultural and developmental context.

being and the quarter-life crisis among fresh graduates of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo. Method: A quantitative correlational approach was employed with a sample of 279 respondents, selected using the Issac & Michael table. The Psychological Well-Being scale based on Ryff's theory and the quarter-life crisis scale based on Robbins and Wilner’s aspects were utilized as instruments. Results: The Spearman rho correlation test revealed a very strong inverse correlation between psychological well-being and the quarter-life crisis (r = -0.884; p < 0.001), indicating that higher mental well-being is associated with a reduced likelihood of experiencing a quarter-life crisis. Additionally, determination analysis showed that psychological well-being accounts for 78.1% of the variance in the occurrence of a quarter-life crisis. Novelty: This research contributes to understanding the significant role of psychological well-being in mitigating the challenges faced during the transition from graduation to the workforce, emphasizing the importance of mental health support during university years to prepare graduates for post-graduation challenges.
