Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the functioning of the family and the self-injury among a Young adult in Candi Sayang, Sidoarjo. Method: Using a correlational quantitative approach. The participants are teenagers aged 17 to 25, totaling 47 individuals. Data was obtained using measurement tools in the form of a family functioning scale and a self-injury scale, then analyzed using the Product Moment correlation statistical method. Results: The results of the data analysis showed a correlation coefficient of r = -0.96 with a p value of 0.000 (Sig. < 0.05), indicating a significant negative relationship between family functioning and self-injury in Young adult. It can be concluded that the higher the family functioning, the lower the self-injury among young adult. Conversely, if family functioning is low, self-injury tends to be higher. Novelty: This study highlights the strong inverse correlation between family functioning and self-injury among young adults in a specific regional context (Candi Sayang, Sidoarjo), which has not been widely explored in prior research. The use of a high correlation value (r = -0.96) suggests a particularly strong association that adds depth to the understanding of family dynamics in mental health outcomes during young adulthood.

Abstract

General Background: Academic procrastination remains a prevalent issue among high school students, often leading to decreased academic performance and increased psychological distress. Specific Background: Previous studies have identified psychological factors such as learning motivation and self-regulated learning as potential contributors to procrastination. Knowledge Gap: However, limited research has examined the simultaneous influence of these two variables on academic procrastination, particularly among Indonesian high school students. Aims: This study aims to analyze the simultaneous effect of learning motivation and self-regulated learning on academic procrastination among 210 eleventh-grade students at SMA Antartika Sidoarjo. Results: Utilizing a quantitative correlational method and multiple linear regression analysis, the findings indicate a significant effect (F=16.01, p<.001), confirming that both learning motivation and self-regulated learning jointly influence academic procrastination. Notably, 31.43% of students were categorized as having high academic procrastination, while 26.19% and 24.76% showed low levels of learning motivation and self-regulated learning, respectively. Novelty: This study uniquely contributes by investigating the combined impact of these psychological factors on academic procrastination within a senior high school setting. Implications: The results underscore the importance of fostering learning motivation and self-regulation strategies to mitigate academic procrastination in educational interventions and school-based counseling programs. Highlights : Simultaneous influence of motivation and self-regulation is statistically significant. Over 30% of students experience high academic procrastination. Highlights the need for targeted educational interventions. Keywords : Academic Procrastination, Learning Motivation, Self-regulated Learning, High School Students, Psychological Factors

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the simultaneous and individual effects of conformity and life satisfaction on Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) among students at Muhammadiyah 2 Senior High School Sidoarjo. Method: Employing a correlational quantitative design, the study involved 270 students selected from a population of 1,146 using accidental sampling. Data were collected using validated scales for conformity (α = 0.860), life satisfaction (α = 0.807), and FoMO (α = 0.898). Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the JASP statistical software. Results: The findings indicate that conformity and life satisfaction simultaneously have a significant influence on FoMO (F = 57.363, p < 0.001). Individually, conformity positively and significantly influences FoMO (t = 3.289, p = 0.001), while life satisfaction has a significant negative influence on FoMO (t = -9.553, p < 0.001), suggesting that higher life satisfaction is associated with lower levels of FoMO. Novelty: This study contributes new insights into the psychological mechanisms underlying FoMO among adolescents by highlighting the dual role of social conformity and subjective well-being, particularly within the context of Indonesian high school students.

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between time management and self-control and academic procrastination in vocational high school students. Method: This research method uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research population was 340 students with 172 students as samples. The sampling technique used is stratified random proportional sampling. The data collection technique used a time management scale with a reliability value of 0.886, a self-control scale with a reliability value of 0.831 and a procrastination scale with a reliability value of 0.892 with a Likert scale model. The data analysis technique uses multiple correlation with the JASP program. Results: The results of this study showed an F value of 448.991 (p = < 0.001 < 0.05) which means that time management and simultaneous self-control have a significant relationship with academic procrastination. The results of Pearson's correlation analysis showed that there was a significant negative relationship between time management and academic procrastination (r = -0.520), with a p-value of < 0.001 (< 0.05), and there was a significant negative relationship between self-control and academic procrastination (r = -0.739), with a p-value of < 0.001 (< 0.05). Novelty: This study highlights the simultaneous influence of time management and self-control on academic procrastination among vocational high school students, providing insights into behavioral aspects that have not been extensively explored in this specific student group.

Abstract

Objective: This study investigates the relationship between celebrity worship and self-control with subjective well-being among members of the NCTZen X community, a fan group dedicated to the K-Pop group NCT. Method: Employing a quantitative correlational approach, data were collected from 177 respondents in Sidoarjo using accidental sampling. Participants completed an online questionnaire comprising the Celebrity Attitude Scale (CAS), the Perceived Control Scale (PCS), and two subjective well-being instruments: the Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and the Scale of Positive and Negative Experience (SPANE). Results: The analysis revealed a significant relationship between celebrity worship and self-control with subjective well-being (R = 0.738; p < 0.05). Celebrity worship exhibited a negative correlation with subjective well-being (r = -0.563), while self-control demonstrated a positive correlation (r = 0.662). These findings indicate that excessive idolization is associated with reduced psychological well-being, whereas higher self-control correlates with improved well-being. Novelty: This study contributes to the limited literature by simultaneously examining the dual influence of celebrity worship and self-control on subjective well-being within a specific K-Pop fan community, highlighting the psychological dynamics of fandom engagement.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the correlation between students' levels of resilience and the severity of their quarter-life crisis. Method: Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, the research involved 160 students from STIKES Majapahit Mojokerto, selected through a saturation sampling technique. Data were collected using validated scales on resilience and quarter-life crisis, and analyzed using Pearson correlation. Results: The findings indicate a statistically significant negative correlation between resilience and quarter-life crisis (r = -0.260, p < 0.05), suggesting that higher levels of resilience are associated with lower levels of quarter-life crisis among students. Novelty: This study contributes to the limited body of research that addresses the protective role of resilience during early adulthood, particularly among students in Indonesia who are navigating the critical transition into the workforce and independent adulthood. While the quarter-life crisis is a well-known construct in developmental psychology, this research uniquely highlights resilience as a key mitigating factor in this specific cultural and developmental context.
