Abstract

The case method reports descriptive information regarding a trial or experiment, event or analysis, or project. The case method can also be interpreted as the result of intensive and systematic investigations carried out by individuals, groups communities, or units to examine data that is related to several variables. Students or teachers usually take a broad and complex topic or phenomenon in the case method. Then, the topic is narrowed down to the questions to be analyzed. Analysis is an activity that consists of a series of activities such as; parsing, distinguishing, and sorting things to be regrouped according to certain criteria and then looking for connections and interpreting their meaning. The ability to analyze is one of the high-level cognitive abilities that is important for students to master in learning. The selection of control and experimental samples was carried out using class random. This is done to reduce bias when determining or drawing conclusions that may result in adjustments to the circumstances being made. The form of research is a quasi-experiment with a two-group pretest-posttest type. Data analysis in this research was carried out descriptively by determining the residual regression test with the help of the SPSS program. The treatment given through the case method makes analysis the basic and most developed ability in learning. These results prove that the case method analysis each stage of students' basic thinking in providing arguments and conclusions based on the thought analysis itself. Analytical skills can be developed through the case method stages. The case method stages require analysis at each stage to provide arguments and possible solutions. Repeated training helps students improve their analytical skills.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan respon mahasiswa terhadap LKM-IGBI. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa kelas PSPF 2022C Jurusan Fisika Universitas Negeri Medan Angkatan Tahun 2022 yang sedang mengikuti perkuliahan Fisika SMA semester genap tahun perkukiahan 2022/2023 . Teknik pengambilan sampel adalah purposive sampling area sebanyak 30 orang. Instrumen pengumpul data adalah angket respon mahasiswa. Angket respon yang diberikan kepada mahasiswa berisi empat pernyataan yaitu: daya tarik, kemudahan menggunakan, kecukupan konten, dan relevansi konten. Anaisis data menggunakan teknik persentase. Hasil analisis data menggambarkan LKM-IGBI sangat dibutuhkan dalam kegiata pembelajaran yang tergambar dalam respon mahasiswa dalam kategori sangat baik.

Abstract

Science skills are skills that students need when they are investigating. These skills are needed by students in the process of inquiry to solve problems from a natural phenomenon that is around them. general reality many of the skills of students who tend to be passive and low. The low scientific skills of students because the learning process does not involve practicum. Therefore, this study aims to find out. Improved science skills in terms of high school student activities through inquiry training learning models. This type of research is descriptive. The instrument of this study was the activity evaluation observation sheet. Each student observation sheet consists of five indicators. The indicator is confronting the problem, verifying data, experimenting, processing data and inquiry analysis. The results showed that skills based on assessment of activity indicators increased at each meeting.

Abstract

Problem solving skills are a fundamental part of physics learning that must be possessed by students in facing challenges and problems that involve critical thinking, logical, systematic and able to make the right decisions. In fact, the availability of instruments to measure these skills is still limited. Based on that, the purpose of this research is to develop a test instrument based on problem solving skills based on Heller's stages on dynamic fluid material that meets the criteria for good instrument feasibility. This type of research is development research (Research and Development / R&D) with a 4D model consisting of 4 stages, namely define, design, develop and disseminate. The subjects of this study were XI grade high school students totaling 36 people for product testing. The results showed that the average value of content validity testing was 93.53% with very valid criteria, while the results of item validation in small and large groups showed that all ten test instruments were categorized as valid. In terms of reliability, the small group obtained a value of 0.84 which is classified as very high reliability and in the large group obtained a value of 0.78 which is classified as high reliability. The results of the student response test obtained a positive response in the small group of 81.00% with a good category and in the large group of 81.32% with a very good category. Based on the results of the study, it is concluded that the dynamic fluid material problem solving test instrument developed as many as 10 questions has met the eligibility criteria of the test instrument including validity and reliability so that it can then be used as a training medium and a measuring tool for problem solving skills.

Abstract

Tujuan dari Kegiatan pengabdian ini peningkatan nilai ekonomi dari produk olahan sampah dengan menggunakan mesin penghancur (crusher machine) di Kota Medan. Peningkatan jumlah sampah menjadi masalah yang signifikan di perkotaan, termasuk Kota Medan. Dalam upaya mengatasi masalah ini sekaligus meningkatkan nilai ekonomi sampah, penggunaan teknologi mesin penghancur diperkenalkan. Studi ini mengkaji bagaimana mesin penghancur dapat mengubah sampah menjadi produk yang memiliki nilai ekonomi lebih tinggi, seperti bahan baku untuk industri daur ulang dan produk siap pakai. Metode yang digunakan meliputi pengumpulan data melalui observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan pelaku usaha pengolahan sampah, dan analisis ekonomi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan mesin penghancur tidak hanya efektif dalam mengurangi volume sampah, tetapi juga meningkatkan pendapatan masyarakat melalui penjualan produk olahan. Selain itu, inisiatif ini berkontribusi pada pelestarian lingkungan dan pengurangan beban tempat pembuangan akhir (TPA). Artikel ini menyimpulkan bahwa penerapan mesin penghancur sampah di Kota Medan memiliki potensi besar dalam menciptakan peluang ekonomi baru dan mendukung keberlanjutan lingkungan.

Abstract

Teaching materials play an essential role in education, serving as critical resources and guides for both teachers and students. They significantly enhance students' understanding and competency development by aligning with curriculum demands, particularly skill-based competencies. Science process skills are vital for engaging students in Physics, yet traditional teaching methods often limit the development of these skills. Effective Physics education should incorporate diverse strategies, including the case study approach, which fosters scientific thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Implementing a scientific approach can further enhance these skills but may present challenges such as reduced learning pace and student interest. Teachers must address these challenges through close monitoring and thorough preparation, ensuring teaching materials are valid and effective. Researchers propose integrating case-based methods with a scientific approach to aid students in learning wave phenomena, making Physics concepts more accessible. The effectiveness of these materials will be evaluated using the N-Gain test, a statistical measure assessing improvement in student performance through a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest design, with data analyzed using SPSS. This study aims to identify issues and gather user feedback to optimize Physics teaching materials. The analysis of teaching materials developed using the case method, supported by a scientific approach, reveals their effectiveness in enhancing students' science process skills. The average N-Gain score of 0.71, reflects a 71% improvement, these materials significantly improve students' abilities, particularly in the Sound Wave subject. The effectiveness is evident in the enhanced skills of analysis and problem-solving among students, validated through pre-test and post-test comparisons. The average pre-test score was 60.4, which increased to 88.3 in the post-test. Despite some challenges such as inconsistent internet access, the teaching materials proved to be highly effective, with 20 students achieving effective results and 10 achieving fairly effective results. The teaching materials also foster various science process skills including critical thinking, experimentation, and communication. These methods encourage student engagement, critical thinking, collaboration, real-world application, creativity, and overcoming learning barriers, making education more dynamic and interactive.

Abstract

Penjaminan mutu pendidikan memerlukan sistem evaluasi yang sistematis, integratif, dan berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi kualitas pendidikan sekolah menengah melalui pengembangan dan penerapan instrumen pembelajaran IPAS (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial) yang mencakup perangkat, proses, dan evaluasi. Penelitian ini merupakan hasil program inisiasi LPPM Universitas Negeri Medan bekerja sama dengan Dinas Pendidikan dan sekolah mitra. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif melalui survei dengan instrumen evaluatif berbasis IPAS yang diisi oleh 47 guru dari berbagai sekolah. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa strategi pembelajaran, kompetensi guru, penggunaan media, dan sarana pembelajaran memberikan kontribusi signifikan terhadap peningkatan mutu akademik siswa. Temuan ini memperkuat pentingnya integrasi antara asesmen pembelajaran, perangkat ajar, dan kompetensi guru dalam penjaminan mutu pendidikan. Rekomendasi diarahkan pada penerapan siklus PPEPP (Penetapan, Pelaksanaan, Evaluasi, Pengendalian, dan Peningkatan) secara berkelanjutan di tingkat sekolah.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity and reliability of Google Form-based descriptive questions in assessing the scientific creativity of high school science students. Scientific creativity is an essential skill in science learning that includes flexibility of thinking, originality of ideas and elaboration in developing concepts and solving problems. By increasing the use of digital technology in learning evaluation, Google form becomes one of the platforms that offers convenience in compiling questions, collecting data in real-time and analyzing results systematically. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method by testing the validity and reliability of the descriptive question instrument through statistical analysis. The results of this study indicate that the Google Form-based assessment instrument has high validity with an average correlation value above 0.5 and good reliability with a consistency level above 0.7. In addition, this instrument is able to measure students' scientific creativity in answering questions based on three main indicators, namely flexibility, originality, and elaboration. This study shows that Google form can be used as a valid and reliable evaluation tool in assessing the scientific creativity of high school science students, but collaboration with other assessment methods is still needed to optimize the measurement of aspects of idea exploration and problem solving in more depth.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep suhu dan kalor merupakan aspek fundamental dalam fisika yang memiliki peran penting dalam berbagai bidang ilmu dan kehidupan sehari-hari. Namun, masih banyak siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep ini akibat metode pembelajaran yang kurang interaktif dan minimnya eksperimen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran kreativitas ilmiah dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa terhadap suhu dan kalor melalui pendekatan pembelajaran yang inovatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif deskriptif dengan survei terhadap siswa kelas X SMA yang telah mempelajari suhu dan kalor. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pemahaman konsep dan kuesioner kreativitas ilmiah, yang kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji validitas dan reliabilitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kreativitas ilmiah berkontribusi positif terhadap pemahaman konsep suhu dan kalor. Meskipun sebagian besar butir soal dalam instrumen asesmen memiliki validitas dan reliabilitas yang baik, beberapa butir perlu direvisi untuk meningkatkan akurasi pengukuran. Diperlukan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih inovatif, seperti eksperimen laboratorium, simulasi interaktif, dan penerapan konsep dalam kehidupan sehari-hari, agar siswa dapat memahami materi dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan efektivitas soal pilihan ganda berbasis Lower Order Thinking Skills (LOTS) dan Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) dalam mengukur kreativitas ilmiah siswa pada mata pelajaran fisika menggunakan Google Form. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain studi komparatif. Data diperoleh dari 32 siswa kelas XI yang mengerjakan soal LOTS dan HOTS melalui Google Form. Analisis dilakukan berdasarkan validitas, reliabilitas, daya beda, dan tingkat kesukaran soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar soal memiliki tingkat kesukaran dalam kategori mudah hingga sedang, dengan daya beda yang baik hingga sangat baik. Skor rata-rata siswa pada soal LOTS lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan soal HOTS, yang mengindikasikan bahwa mereka lebih terbiasa dengan soal yang menguji pemahaman dasar daripada soal yang menuntut analisis dan evaluasi. Google Form terbukti efektif sebagai media evaluasi digital yang fleksibel dan efisien dalam pengumpulan data serta analisis hasil asesmen.
