<![CDATA[Being able to speak another language, particularly a foreign language, will not only improve communication, but it will also make it easier to keep up with advances in science and technology. The availability of suitable textbooks is a crucial element in a learning process as an effort to achieve optimal learning. If the teaching materials and the students’ level and maturity are compatible, then the textbooks are deemed acceptable. This research’sgoal is to examine an Interactive English for Children Textbook Oriented to Critical Thinking Skills for Beginner students at SD Negeri 45 Lubuklinggau that has been adapted to meet the needs of Grade 4 Elementary School students. By modifying the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation) development model, this form of research is considered research and development (R&D). The research participants included 20 students in the 4th grade of an elementary school in Lubuklinggau City, one elementary English teacher, and two lecturers from Bina Insan University, one of whom was an expert in learning media and the other on materials and language. Researchers used observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation as data collection methods. The findings revealed that while the evaluation of learning English teacher replies reached 91.66%, the level of applicability of the textbook development outcomes acquired from students’ response reached 91.05%. These findings support the notion that the end result of the construction of textbooks is highly applicable.]]>

The aim of this training is to provide students with direct insight and experience regarding leadership and organizational management theories. The method in this training is an interactive lecture and discussion method, where students are invited to actively participate in these activities. <![CDATA[Program Studi Sistem Informasi merupakan salah satu program studi yang ada di STMIK BNJ Lubuklinggau yang menggabungkan beberapa bidang keilmuan, yaitu ilmu komputer, manajemen dan bisnis. Dalam proses pembelajarannya, mahasiswa tidak hanya membuat suatu produk teknologi, tetapi juga mampu mempresentasikan produk teknologi tersebut. Kemampuan presentasi sebuah produk teknologi sangat mutlak diperlukan. Kemampuan ini mendasari kesuksesan mahasiswa dalam menjawab tantangan dunia kerja. Pelatihan Fundamental Spoken English dalam Meningkatkan Kemampuan Presentasi Software ( English for Specific Purposes: Information System Students at STMIK BNJ Lubuklinggau) bertujuan meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa Inggris tentang bagaimana mahasiswa Sistem Informasi mempresentasikan software dengan baik dan penuh percaya diri. Metode yang digunakan adalah drill dalam bentuk diskusi dan presentasi melalui pelatihan selama 4 pertemuan. Jumlah peserta pelatihan adalah 27 mahasiswa. Hasil PPM yang ingin dicapai yaitu terlaksananya pembelajaran tentang teori presentasi, praktik dan keahlian presentasi Bahasa Inggris.. Kegiatan PPM ini melibatkan 3 orang mahasiswa Universitas PGRI Silampari yang diharapkan dapat memberikan pengalaman diluar kampus bagi mereka tentang bagaimana mempersiapkan administrasi pelatihan, mempersiapkan materi dan perlengkapan serta melihat secara nyata proses pelatihan English Presentation yang melibatkan mahasiswa Sistem Informasi sebagai peserta. Dengan diikutsertakan mereka dalam pelatihan ini, diharapkan mereka kelak memiliki keterampilan mumpuni untuk melaksanakan pelatihan dengan materi yang bermanfaat bagi masyarakat. Pengabdian ini juga memberikan dampak positif bagi dosen sebagai pelatihan yang terencana, dan berdampak pada masyarakat, yakni para peserta menjadi mahir dan percaya diri ketika berbicara di depan umum dalam bahasa Inggris karena telah melalui latihan yang terstruktur dan intensif serta sesuai dengan kebutuhan. Selain itu dosen juga menambah pengalaman berkoordinasi dengan mitra, bekerjasama, melakukan aktivitas pembelajaran bermanfaat tidak hanya di dalam kampus tapi juga diluar kampus. Selain itu, Materi English for Presentation dapat digunakan oleh dosen sebagai bahan ajar pada Mata Kuliah Public Speaking. Skill Speaking ini juga akan dijadikan sebagai akar ilmu bagi dosen dalam melaksanakan penelitian, sehingga menjadi rangkaian tri dharma perguruan tinggi yang tidak terpisah.]]>

<![CDATA[This research was aimed to prove that it was significantly effective to teach writing skill by using running dictation technique of hortatory exposition text to the eleventh grade students of SMAN 8 Lubuklinggau. This research used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test. The population of this research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 8 Lubuklinggau that consisted of 123 students. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling with the method of paper roll and the sample selected was XI IPA 2 class consisted 25 students. The data for this research was collected by using a written test. The result of this research could be proved by the significant difference between the mean score in the pre-test and post-test. The students mean score in the pre-test was 61.28 and in the post test was 75.44. The t-obtained was 12.367, it was higher than 1.71387 as the critical value in t-table. Finally, the researcher found that “The effectiveness of Using Running Dictation Technique to Improve Students Writing Skill at SMAN 8 Lubuklinggau” was effective. Therefore, it was clearly stated that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Keywords: Hortatory Exposition Text, Running Dictation, Writing Skill ]]>

<![CDATA[This research aimed to determine the types of connotative meaning found in Lana Del Rey’s Born to Die album, and the reasons of connotative meaning found in positive and negative by using Feng et al theory. This research used descriptive qualitative design. The data for this research was collected by using three steps, there were downloading, listening, transcribing, and identifying by the songs. The data analysis for this research used triangulation method, namely data condensation, data display, drawing and verifying conclusion. The result of this research was found that there are 65 connotative meaning found in lyrics of 12 songs on Born to Die album by Lana Del Rey. Furthermore, from 65 connotative meaning consisted of 33 positive connotative meaning and 32 negative connotative meaning. Moreover, from 37 lexicon types of connotative meaning consisted of 17 positive lexicon and 20 negative lexicon. Finally, from 28 lexicon types of connotative meaning consisted of 16 positive predicate and 12 negative predicate types.]]>

<![CDATA[Abstract The problem in this research was “How was the ability of students in writing descriptive text?” and “What were the difficulties faced by students in writing descriptive text?” The objective of this research was to describe the ability of students in writing descriptive text and to describe the difficulties faced by students in writing descriptive text. This research used quantitative method to and data collected in write descriptive text. The population in this research was all the eighth grade students of SMPN 7 Lubuklinggau. The sample of this research was VIII.2 considered 27 students who taken class by using random sampling. Based on the result of the writing descriptive text at the eighth grade students of SMPN 7 Lubuklinggau was in (failed category). The mean score of students was 61. There were 5 students(18%) on Very Good category, 5 students on (18%) Good category, 1 student (4%) on Nearly Good category, 8 students on (30%) Sufficient category, and the last 8 students on (30%) Nearly Sufficient category. It means that the ability of students in writing descriptive text was categorized into Nearly Good, and their ability was categorized into failed (the students’ score were lower than KKM 61< 68). In conclusion, the biggest difficulties faced by students were about grammar, and organizing the ideas. Keywords: Descriptive Text, Difficulties in writing, Students’ Ability]]>

<![CDATA[The aim of the research was to find out An Analysis of EFL Teachers’ Pedagogic Competence in teaching English at SMP Negeri 8 Lubuklinggau. However, the research was conducted at SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau and the time of this research was carried out on Augustus’ 2023. The researcher was chosen by using total sampling there were 2 English teachers in SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau. In this research, the researcher held on the observation in the first meeting in class, and last the researcher conducted an interview and given a questionnaire with two English teachers to know the teacher's pedagogical competence in teaching English at the seventh grade of SMPN 8 Lubuklinggau. However, the data was conducted by observation, interview and questionnaire. Based on the observation in general the teacher has done the criteria of pedagogical competence. Meanwhile, some steps were missing, in the data of the interview result and the questionnaire it also can be seen that English teacher A and B has good pedagogical competence.]]>

<![CDATA[This study was about an analysis of toxic relationship representation between the main characters in It Ends with Us novel by Colleen Hoover. This study would answer the question “What kind of toxic relationship form experienced by the main character in It Ends with Us novel by Colleen Hoover. By answering the question the writer would know what kind of toxic relationship was found in the novel. The writer used descriptive qualitative research. The object of the study was a novel entitled It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover. The instrument of this study was the writer herself as the human instrument key. In collecting the data, the writer read the novel highlighted and underlined those sentences and quotations from the novel and the last rewrote them in another book. In analyzing the data, the writer identified the data, categorized and classified all data in the novel, reduced the data, and described and interpreted the data. There is a point explained in the novel. The writer found about Toxic Relationship in the novel and it is divided into seven parts. Deprecator Belittler, the Bad Temper Toxic Partner, the Guilt Inducer, the Overreacted, the Dependent Partner, the Independent Toxic Controller and the Possessive Toxic Controller.]]>

<![CDATA[Aim of this analysis was to describe social criticism in Charlotte’s Web. Descriptive qualitative method was applied in analyzing. Novel became main focus to be analyzed. Unfair friendship like a toxic friendship and bad relationship between characters in the novel are found as the social critics. Besides, It was also analyzed that a complicated friendship was happen and left a conflict like different perspective on the way someone though about life. There was no willingness to listen to and discuss with partners. Trust became one point that was analyzed. Trust to others was so essential. When one believed in others so all things run well becuse there was a respectable eachother. In addition, social criticsm was also seen in this novel by analyzing that friend was widely loved and care about but it is not as beautiful as thought by writer. Social problems and classification like what was called by bad circle that gave a very strong influence to the way one interact with others.]]>
