Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the features, efficacy, and adaptations of mindfulness-based interventions to enhance regulation of emotion and reduce anxiety in students with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing conditions. We performed a systematic literature review with bibliometric analysis which was based on PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). Through the Scopus database and relevant articles, 563 results were generated. Quality synthesis of data 10 studies were selected following removal of duplicates and application of inclusion criteria. Results suggest that mindfulness-based interventions contribute to improved emotion regulation, specifically increases in emotional awareness, self-control and adaptive coping strategies among Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students. These interventions may also indirectly reduce anxiety by strengthening internal psychological qualities. Nevertheless, most of the interventions are not carried out using just mindfulness but through wider approaches such as psycho-education and emotional intelligence. Additionally, the accessibility adaptations, such as visual supports and sign language (SL) use, seem to have a great impact on the efficacy of mindfulness interventions across different disabilities or conditions. While these results are promising, the literature reflects an absence of experimental studies and treatment protocols tailored to this population. Future research should seek to create effective, low resource counselling protocols suited to the specific needs of students with Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to systematically examine the relationship between spiritual intelligence, emotional intelligence, principal leadership, work motivation, and teacher performance using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The SLR method was chosen because it can integrate empirical findings transparently and is replicable. The selection process followed the PRISMA 2016-2026 guidelines, starting with 320 articles identified through the Scopus, ScienceDirect, Emerald, and Google Scholar databases, which were then screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulting in 32 final articles eligible for analysis. The results of the synthesis indicate that spiritual intelligence contributes to shaping teachers’ intrinsic motivation and professional integrity, while emotional intelligence plays a role in emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness, which in turn impact performance. School principal leadership, particularly the transformational style, was found to be the primary external factor driving teachers’ motivation and performance. Work motivation was identified as a key mediating variable bridging the influence of these three factors on teacher performance, as explained within the framework of Self-Determination Theory. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing teachers’ spiritual and emotional intelligence, as well as strengthening principals’ leadership capacity, as strategies for the sustainable improvement of educational quality.

Abstract

This study aimed to enhance students’ currency value calculation skills through the implementation of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach for learners with mild intellectual disabilities. The research addressed a pedagogical gap related to the limited use of contextual and student-centered mathematics instruction in special education settings, particularly in teaching functional numeracy skills. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was employed and conducted in Grade VIII at SLB Workshop Padang, involving two students with mild intellectual disabilities. The intervention was implemented across two cycles, each consisting of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through performance-based tests and structured observations and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The findings revealed a consistent and meaningful improvement in students’ ability to perform currency value calculations across the two instructional cycles. The results indicate that the RME approach effectively supports conceptual understanding by linking mathematical operations to real-life contexts, thereby enhancing students’ engagement and learning outcomes. This study contributes pedagogically by demonstrating the practical value of RME as a contextual and meaningful instructional approach for teaching functional mathematics in special education classrooms, particularly for students with mild intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve early writing skills of students with physical disabilities, specifically cerebral palsy, through the use of kinetic sand as a learning medium. The research was motivated by the low ability of students to write letters, numbers, and simple words independently and neatly due to limitations in fine motor control. This study employed a Classroom Action Research design conducted in two cycles in Grade III at SLB Negeri Salak. The research subjects consisted of two students, identified as AM and RB. The assessed aspects included the ability to write letters A–Z, numbers 1–10, and simple words independently and legibly. Data were collected through observation and performance tests and analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods based on percentage scores. The results showed a significant improvement in both subjects. In the initial condition, AM achieved 33.33% and RB 26.67%. In Cycle I, the scores increased to 60.0% for AM and 46.7% for RB. Further improvement was observed in Cycle II, with AM reaching 80.0% and RB 66.7%. These findings indicate that kinetic sand is effective in enhancing early writing skills of students with cerebral palsy, as it provides sensorimotor stimulation that supports hand coordination and fine motor control. Therefore, kinetic sand can serve as an adaptive and innovative instructional medium to develop early writing skills in students with physical disabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to describe changes in the ability to make caramel pudding in children with mild intellectual disabilities after being taught using video tutorial media. The study used a quantitative approach with the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with an A-B design consisting of a baseline (A) and intervention (B) phase. The study was conducted on May 11–26, 2026 at SLB Serasi Payakumbuh. The research subject was selected purposively, namely one 11th grade student with mild intellectual disabilities who experienced difficulties in making caramel pudding skills. Data were collected through performance observations, practical tests, and documentation, then analyzed using visual analysis within conditions and between conditions that include the direction of trends, levels of stability, level changes, and percentage of overlap. The results showed that the subject's abilities increased after being given intervention using video tutorials. In the baseline phase, skill achievement remained at 50% for three sessions, while in the intervention phase it increased to 78%, 78%, 83%, 83%, 83%, and 83% for six sessions. These findings indicate a change in the ability to make caramel pudding after the application of video tutorial media to the research subjects. Thus, video tutorial media has the potential to be used as an alternative for learning vocational skills for students with mild intellectual disabilities, although the findings of this study are limited to the characteristics of the subjects studied.
