Abstract

This study was aimed to evaluate the nutritional of content of egg and the fat profile of layers by feeding of kepok Banana flour (Musa paradisiaca formantypica) as feed supplement. A total of 200 laying 58-week-old hens were used in the study, with 5 treatments and 5 replications, each of which was filled with 8 chickens. The treatments were applied in a completely randomized design, continued with Duncan’s test. The treatments given by kepok banana flour were 0%, 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% substitution of corn flour. This research was conducted for 8 weeks. The parameters measure included egg crude protein (%), egg crude fat (%), egg white crude protein (%), egg yellow fat (%), egg cholesterol (mg/100 g), blood cholesterol (mg/dl), blood LDL cholesterol (mg/dl), and blood HDL cholesterol (mg/dl) of the laying hens. The results showed that the utilization of kepok banana flour up to 20% substitution of yellow corn had a highly significant effect on egg protein content, egg white protein, egg fat content, egg cholesterol content, chicken blood cholesterol, chicken blood HDL, chicken blood LDL and triglycerides of chicken blood. It was concluded that kepok banana flour substitution of up to 20% as a feed source can increase the nutritional content of chicken eggs and the fat profile of laying hens.

Abstract

Maleosan Farm is the only goat milk processing facility in North Sulawesi, producing pasteurized milk from Etawa Crossbreed goats. This study analyzed the supply chain flow, value-added generation, and formulated development strategies for pasteurized goat milk production. Using purposive sampling, we collected data from 55 partner farmers, 18 milk collectors, and key stakeholders through structured interviews and observations between January and February 2025. Supply chain mapping, Hayami value-added analysis, and Key Success Factor Analysis were employed. The results showed that the supply chain involved six main actors with bidirectional information flow. Value-added ratios ranged from 36.34% (chocolate), 36.84% (strawberry), to 37.63% (original flavor), generating profits of IDR 17,810-18,656 per liter. Government support emerged as the primary driving factor (TWV=2.89), while limited capital was the main constraint (TWV=2.80). Establishing a cooperative-based partnership system is recommended to address capital limitations and optimize government support for sustainable development.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis faktor sosial ekonomi apa saja yang mempengaruhi minat pemuda dalam beternak sapi sehingga dapat mendorong minat mereka untuk beternak sapi sekaligus meningkatkan produktivitas ternak sapi dan pengembangan industri sapi potong di wilayah Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara. Penelitian  dilaksanakan di Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara dimana sampel lokasi dipilih secara purposive di Kecamatan Belang dan Kecamatan Tombatu Timur sebagai Kecamatan dengan populasi sapi potong terbanyak yaitu masing masing 888 ekor dan 678 ekor. Sebanyak 106 orang pemuda yag terdiri atas 37 orag yang beternak sapi dan 69 orang tidak beternak sapi dan  berumur 16-30 tahun dipilih secara acak sebagai sampel responden   dari 265 populasi pemuda yang beternak sapi dan yang tidak beternak sapi dengan menggunakan formulasi dari Slovin. Analisis data menggunakan model regresi linier berganda dimana variabel minat pemuda beternak sapi potong dan variabel yang mempengaruhinya di ukur dengan menggunakan skala likert berjenjang  satu sampai tiga. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa minat pemuda beternak sapi potong di Kabupaten Minahasa Tenggara, Indonesia dipengaruhi oleh faktor sosial ekonomi seperti persepsi terhadap pendapatan,  lingkungan masyarakat, status sosial dan pemilikian lahan pertanian untuk tanaman pakan ternak sedang kan faktor lingkungan keluarga tidak berdampak  signifikan terhadap minat pemuda beternak sapi potong.  Karena itu faktor faktor tersebut perlu menjadi perhatian dari pengambil kebijakan di wilayah penelitian agar pemuda yang beternak terus mendapatkan pengetahuan berupa cara beternak sapi potong yang menguntungkan dengan biaya seminimal mungkin sedangkan untuk pemuda yang belum beternak diberikan bantuan bibit sapi potong untuk memulai usahanya yang tentunya diikuti dengan pendampingan untuk mencegah penyalahgunaan ternak sapi oleh pemuda peternak.

Abstract

Smallholder pig farming in rural areas of North Sulawesi important role in food security, household economy, and socio-cultural of local communities. However, this sector faces various risks. The aims to analyze production dynamics and identify risk factors that affect the sustainability of smallholder pig farming in rural areas. The research employed a quantitative approach through a survey of 604 farmers (having 3-4 sows/farmer). Data analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that labor, the cage area, quantity of medicines, farm model, and farm location in rural areas significantly influenced pig production. The breeding model resulted in higher production than the combined pig farming model and tended to have lower production risks. Pig production in rural areas is also higher than in suburban areas. Disease risk is the main cause of losses, with production and income declines reaching 182.9% in the breeding model and 303.4% in the combined model. In conclusion, the breeding model resulted in higher production and tends to have lower production risks, particularly disease-related risks that directly affect productivity and farm continuity. These risks significantly reduce household production and income, highlighting the strong relationship between production dynamics, risk levels, and the economic stability of rural pig farmers.
