Abstract

Ceramic mosaic is the art of arranging or combining ceramic pieces of certain colors and sizes to form an aesthetic pattern. Based on the evaluation results on the previous Community Service (PkM) implementation, it was found that the knowledge of the participants about mosaics, especially in terms of composition of shapes and colors, had not been fully mastered. Referring to this, this PkM activity aims to improve the knowledge and skills of participants in the Asem Baris area of gang V, RT 05, RW 05, in applying mosaics to furniture in the form of tables made of used wood. The method used in the preparation stage was to conduct experiments to obtain ceramics as the main raw material for mosaics, and to design a table with a disassembly system. At the stage of implementing PkM, the parsipatory and mentoring methods are carried out during the product development process.   The results of this activity showed an increase in the participants' understanding and skills in applying the composition of shapes and colors in mosaics. This can be seen in the results of PkM in the form of mosaics with interesting abstract and regular patterns even though they only use a combination of two colors

Abstract

AbstractNitik Batik is one of the well-known batik motifs that developed in the Yogyakarta Region, precisely in the Trimulya, Kembangsongo, Blawong - Bantul districts. It has a characteristic nitik pattern from the unique canting shape which ends in 4 (four) splits with a geometric pattern. The nitik motif is thought to be from the pattern of Patola cloth - India. The detailed manufacture of Nitik batik and a long manufacturing process make the price of Nitik batik expensive. Monotonous colors and motifs make it unpopular among young people, for that effort and innovation are needed in its application. One of the efforts to maintain Nitik batik, it is necessary to innovate its application to alternative media with patterns and colors that contain the symbolic meaning of 'ban batik nitik motif' and make 'development of the nitik batik motif' one of the ‘icons’ of Yogyakarta batik. This research method is a descriptive qualitative approach, the result of which is the application of the development of the Nitik batik motif as an innovation in alternative media. The results of the research are in the form of innovative development of the Nitik batik motif with its application to alternative media, as an effort to preserve it and be recognized as the batik icon of Nitik Yogyakarta for present and future generations. Keywords: Nitik batik, colors and motifs, innovation, alternative media AbstrakBatik nitik adalah salah satu motif dikenal batik yang berkembang di Wilayah Yogyakarta, tepatnya diwilayah Trimulya, Kembangsongo, Blawong – Kabupaten Bantul. Mempunyai ciri khas pola nitik dari bentuk canting uniknya yang ujungnya membelah 4 (empat) dengan pola geometrisnya. Motif nitik diduga dari pola kain Patola – India. Pembuatannya batik tulis nitik yang detil dan proses pembuatan yang lama menjadikan harga batik nitik menjadi mahal. Warna dan motifnya yang monoton menjadikan tidak popular dikalangan kaum muda, untuk itu diperlukan usaha dan inovasi dalam penerapannya. Salah satu usaha untuk mempertahankan batik nitik, diperlukan inovasi penerapannya pada media alternatif dengan pola dan warna yang mengandung makna simbolis ‘motif batik nitik larangan’ serta menjadikan ‘pengembangan motif batik nitik’ menjadi salah satu ‘Ikon’ batik Yogyakarta.  Metode penelitian ini dengan pendekatan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif, yang hasil akhirnya penerapan pengembangan motif batik nitik sebagai inovavasi pada media alternatif. Hasil penelitian berupa inovasi pengembangan motif batik nitik dengan penerapannya pada media alternatif, sebagai usaha untuk melestarikannya serta dikenali sebagai Ikon batik nitik Yogyakarta bagi generasi sekarang dan di masa mendatang. Kata kunci: batik nitik, warna dan motif, inovasi, media alternatif

Abstract

Inovasi desain memainkan peran krusial dalam menjaga dan melestarikan warisan budaya, seperti ikon Betawi Ondel-Ondel dan bentuk lisplang Gigi Balang. Penelitian ini merupakan upaya eksploratif dalam mengadaptasi dan melestarikan kedua simbol budaya tersebut agar tetap relevan di tengah dinamika perubahan zaman. Melalui pendekatan desain yang inovatif, penelitian ini menganalisis bagaimana elemen tradisional dapat dipadukan dengan teknik dan material modern untuk menciptakan karya desain interior yang menarik dan komunikatif, khususnya bagi generasi muda. Fokus utama terletak pada pengembangan desain elemen interior berupa signage dan bangku tunggu yang mengangkat nilai-nilai visual dan filosofis budaya Betawi. Penelitian ini juga menyoroti pentingnya kolaborasi antara seniman, desainer, dan komunitas lokal dalam menghasilkan produk yang tidak hanya estetis, tetapi juga kaya makna budaya. Inovasi desain dalam konteks ini tidak hanya menjadi sarana ekspresi kreatif, tetapi juga strategi efektif dalam pelestarian warisan budaya. Penelitian ini sejalan dengan Tujuan Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (SDGs) poin 11.4, yaitu memperkuat upaya melindungi dan menjaga warisan budaya dunia sebagai bagian dari pembangunan kota dan permukiman yang inklusif dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

PkM Mono Semester Even Year. Academic 2022-2023 with the title Transformation of the Betawi Ondel-ondel and Gigi Balang Icons with Quilt Application Techniques was held on Saturday 18 March 2023 with Participating Partners of the Tarakanita IV Women Alumni Community –Jakarta who are entering retirement age. This activity utilizes patchwork waste to be reused into new products by elevating the local wisdom of the Betawi Icons, namely 'Ondel-ondel' and 'Gigi Balang' in decorative forms with the 'Quilt' art technique. This activity is an alternative to preserving Betawi Icons in other forms and media, namely: the application of decorative shapes, colors and symbolic meanings of Betawi Icons with Quilting Techniques. It is hoped that the results of this activity can fill free time for participating partners and as a useful social activity and can become a source of income later for participating partners. The purpose of this activity is also an extension of the Government's hand, especially the Regional Government of DKI Jakarta in improving the creative economy of participants which also makes it possible to form MSMEs. The output of mono Community Service (PkM) activities is in the form of HAKI Posters and Journal Publications.
