Abstract

It is important to improve the optimal utilization of posyandu services by mothers of children under five. An extensive health center in North Barito District, Central Kalimantan-Indonesia, revealed that the current utilization of Posyandu is only 43.91%, falling short of the Health Office's target of 80%. This study aims to identify the factors that influence mothers of young children to use Posyandu services. The research methodology involved a descriptive survey using a cross-sectional approach. It included a sample of 95 mothers of toddlers from all Posyandu in Muara Teweh Health Centre, selected using a disproportionate stratified random sampling method. The study utilized a questionnaire as the primary instrument, and the collected data was analyzed and presented as frequency distribution tables. The findings indicated that 62.11% of the 95 mothers had a good level of knowledge about posyandu for toddlers, 75.79% found the home distance and transportation to the posyandu affordable, 55.79% received family support to attend posyandu, and 69.74% acknowledged the active role played by cadres in facilitating posyandu. It is evident that continuous and organized support from all sectors is crucial to ensure optimal and increased utilization of posyandu.

The intervention carried out in this study was health promotion carried out by conducting interactive counseling on PHBS and how to wash hands properly with the help of educational media in the form of short videos. The instrument used in this study was a knowledge questionnaire regarding PHBS. The questionnaire has passed validity and reliability tests with Cronbach's values. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed an average knowledge score increase from 60.60 to 84.00 after the intervention, with a mean difference of 23.40 and a p-value of 0.000 (≤0.05). There was a significant difference between the level of family knowledge before and after the intervention. Health promotion interventions can improve health literacy related to clean and healthy living behaviors in school students. Schools should integrate health literacy materials into the school curriculum, particularly in science, physical education, and guidance and counseling.

Abstract

Private nursing schools in South Kalimantan face increasing pressure to produce high-quality, ethically driven nursing professionals, aligning with Indonesia’s “Golden Vision 2045.” Within this context, the "Macbeth effect"—a psychological phenomenon where individuals experience guilt, anxiety, or a compulsion to "cleanse" themselves after confronting morally ambiguous situations—poses a challenge to ethical leadership. This study investigates the manifestation of the "Macbeth Effect"—the compulsion to morally cleanse oneself following ethically ambiguous situations—among leaders of private nursing schools in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, in-depth interviews were conducted with five school leaders to capture their experiences and perceptions of moral responsibility and ethical decision-making. Thematic analysis was employed to identify key themes, focusing on how the Macbeth Effect shapes leadership behavior, decision-making processes, and organizational dynamics within nursing education institutions. Findings reveal that leaders frequently exhibit moral cleansing behaviors, such as self-evaluation, transparency in decision-making, and using mediators to handle conflicts. While the Macbeth Effect enhances ethical leadership practices, it also introduces challenges that may impact mental well-being and leadership efficacy. Practical strategies, including promoting a culture of transparency, emotional support, and task delegation, are recommended to mitigate the psychological burden associated with moral cleansing. This research contributes to understanding ethical leadership in nursing education and highlights the need for support systems to sustain leaders’ mental resilience and ethical commitment.

Abstract

The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) has been integrated into the Indonesian higher education system since 2020. While nursing study programs are not mandated to participate in MBKM activities, they are still required to meet the key performance indicators outlined by the Ministry of Education and Culture through the MBKM program. To ensure that students receive valuable learning experiences in line with outcome-based curricula, nurse educators must possess additional competencies in designing learning experiences and coordinating collaborations with various stakeholders. This will equip nursing graduates to meet the demands of the modern era and compete globally, while also addressing the needs of society. Currently, the required competencies for nurse educators and the specific roles and responsibilities necessary to fulfill the MBKM policy have not been clearly defined. This article aims to elucidate the core competencies of nursing lecturers and the implementation of the expected roles and responsibilities essential for the successful execution of the MBKM program.
