Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the independent board of commissioners, managerial ownership, and social environmental performance towards fraud. The sample of this research consists of 121 companies from the Asia Pacific Emerging Market and listed on Bloomberg’s database from 2016 to 2022. The multiple regression analysis is conducted to examine the relationship between the independent board of commissioners, managerial ownership, and social environmental performance towards fraud. The findings of this study showed that independent boards of commissioners and managerial ownership don’t affect fraud, but social-environmental performance does. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing evidence on the global market and how the elements of corporate governance and social environmental performance can affect fraud. This study also supports the stakeholder theory, which proposes that when a company makes social environmental performance a strategic orientation of the company, then fraud can be minimized because the company is not just responsible for itself but also for the other stakeholders.

Abstract

Today's business economic competition encourages companies to maximize the potential of human resources. Ideally, human resources have the capacity, capability, and integrity to maintain resilience in the business world, especially financial companies. However, the reality is that in Semarang City there are still fraud intentions in the form of corruption in employees of one of the banks, which has the potential to reduce company resilience. Job satisfaction is a reflection of workers' attitudes in responding to the work environment, this is related to the level of fraud intentions. This study aims to analyze the effect of job satisfaction on fraud intentions in employees of financial companies in Semarang City. The method used is quantitative-based with data collection techniques in the form of distributing questionnaires to 30 samples. The research data were tested using tests of validity, reliability, normality, linearity, and homoscedasticity. A simple linear regression analysis was performed for the impact of job satisfaction on fraud intensity. The results of this study show that there is a positive influence between job satisfaction and fraud intentions. The suggestion for future research is to extend the research period and take samples from all industries registered in Indonesia in various cities so that the research results can be used as generalizations.

Abstract

In the digital era, social media has become the most important tool for people. One of them is Instagram, which provides a space to share information to become a place for self-disclosure. This encourages many users to have a second account on Instagram, to display things that cannot be uploaded on the main account. This research aims to find out how the use of a second Instagram account becomes a form of self-disclosure for students at Karangturi National University Semarang. This research uses a qualitative method with a total of 4 informants. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews and observation of posts on the accounts of both students. The results showed that students of Karangturi National University use a second account to reveal themselves only to selected people, such as family or close friends. They are more open when uploading various photos and videos of their daily lives, pour out their hearts openly, and feel safe if they have to reveal another side of themselves on the second account.
