Abstract

Enhancing production activities in Desa Kolot, Cikalong Tasikmalaya is achieved through mutually beneficial partnerships among traders, exemplifying a community-driven empowerment model. This approach is introduced as a response to counter the negative perceptions associated with interventionist empowerment strategies implemented by head of village. The objective of this research is to uncover the interconnected pattern involving traders with ample capital collaborating with those lacking financial resources. Employing a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, the data analysis utilizes the patron-client theory. The study identifies the effectiveness of an empowerment model that optimizes the local potential of traditional snack production, deeply rooted in the community’s traditions. The empowerment mechanism is executed through voluntary connections established between major traders providing capital and smaller traders contributing culinary products. Small traders, as beneficiaries, get provision of materials, production tools, and skill enhancements offered by larger traders. Similarly, major traders benefit by gaining access to a market for the product of culinary, thereby expanding their customer base. These personal, voluntary, and tradition-bound relationships reflect dyadic connections characterized by an imbalance, potentially leading to domination and exploitation.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui bentuk kerjasama, manfaat kerjasama, dan tantangan kerjasama yang dilakukan oleh Perpustakaan Universitas Katolik Parahyangan bersama dengan Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan secara deskriptif. Bentuk kerjasama yang dimaksud yaitu, kolaborasi dalam perolehan sumber daya perpustakaan, kerjasama dalam penyediaan fasilitas, pengaturan peminjaman antar perpustakaan, metode kerjasama antar perpustakaan, dan kolaborasi dalam pertukaran informasi secara online. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of cooperation, the benefits of cooperation, and the challenges of cooperation carried out by the Universitas Katolik Parahyangan Library together with Forum Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Indonesia. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The form of cooperation in question is collaboration in the acquisition of library resources, cooperation in providing facilities, lending arrangements between libraries, methods of cooperation between libraries, and collaboration in online information exchange.

Abstract

Wattpad is a digital reading application that is quite popular in Indonesia and is used for reading and writing, but the majority of Wattpad users are readers. Seeing the reduced interest in reading that occurs in Indonesia. This research becomes relevant when the use of the Wattpad application is linked to interest in reading considering the low interest in reading in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between use of the Wattpad application and interest in reading. This research method uses a quantitative research method with the Pearson product moment correlation test using interpretation of the relationship strength table to determine the strength of the variable relationship and the rtable distribution to determine the significance between variables. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires via social media such as Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, and the Wattpad reading community on Telegram. Data collection was also carried out using literature studies from previous studies on the same topic. The population of this research was UNPAD, ITB, UPI, and Tel-U students with a sample of 406 samples. The correlation test was carried out using SPSS version 23. The results of this study show that there is a significant relationship between the use of the Wattpad application and interest. With a sample size of (n)=406 and α=0.05 with a confidence level of 95%, the calculated correlation coefficient on satisfaction with using Wattpad is 0.350; intensity of Wattpad use with reading relaxation 0.209; and Wattpad reading genre preference with reading stimuli 0.516.

Abstract

This study examines the use of OpenAI Chat GPT in information retrieval by students at six leading universities in Indonesia. This study uses a quota sampling method with 600 students from Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, Diponegoro University, Gadjah Mada University, Padjadjaran University, and UIN Sunang Gunung Djati Bandung as the research sample. Pearson Product Moment correlation analysis shows that the majority of students use OpenAI Chat GPT for academic and non-academic needs with a high level of satisfaction. There is a significant relationship between students' daily information needs and the use of OpenAI Chat GPT. Valuable and useful information is correlated with more efficient and accurate information retrieval. This study supports the new media theory which states that digital technology changes the way individuals interact with information, enabling more personal and interactive experiences. This study provides theoretical contributions to the literature on the use of AI technology in information retrieval and practical recommendations for further research development.

Abstract

Background of the study: The large number of users who use the library collection makes the library vulnerable to misuse of the collection. One form of threat of misuse of collections faced by libraries is damage caused by vandalism. Method: The study adopted a quantitative Pre-Experiment research approach with One Shot case study data analysis, with data collection techniques including observation and documentation. Purpose: This research investigates a case of vandalism of collection books in the Library of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, Padjadjaran University. The purpose of this study is to describe the acts of vandalism that occurred. Findings: 200 vandalized books of various types were found. The findings of this study highlighted various forms of vandalism that occurred on the collection books, such as crossing out, giving special colors, drawing, writing, underlining, and giving special marks. Conclusion: Vandalism of books in libraries is a serious problem that limits the library's ability to provide optimal services and disrupts the absorption of information in higher education. Salah satu bentuk dari ancaman penyalahgunaan koleksi yang dihadapi perpustakaan adalah kerusakan yang disebabkan oleh vandalisme. Metode: Studi ini mengadopsi pendekatan penelitian Pra Eksperimen kuantitatif dengan analisis data One Shot case study, dengan teknik pengambilan data meliputi observasi dan dokumentasi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini menginvestigasi kasus vandalisme koleksi buku di Perpustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan tindakan vandalisme yang terjadi. Temuan: Ditemukan 200 buku yang telah mengalami vandalisme dengan berbagai jenis tipe. Temuan penelitian ini menyoroti berbagai bentuk vandalisme yang terjadi pada koleksi buku di perpustakaan, seperti mencoret, memberi warna khusus, menggambar, menulisi, menggaris bawahi, dan memberi tanda khusus.  Kesimpulan: Tindakan vandalisme terhadap buku di perpustakaan merupakan masalah serius yang membatasi kemampuan perpustakaan dalam menyediakan layanan yang optimal dan mengganggu penyerapan informasi di perguruan tinggi.  Kata Kunci: Vandalisme Buku, Penelitian Pra-Eksperimental, Perpustakaan Universitas

Abstract

This study addresses the specific information needs and information-seeking behavior of university students in Bandung Raya, which have yet to be widely explored in the current academic literature. Furthermore, there needs to be more information on how university students navigate information sources in searching for the information they need and the types of information they usually seek. Therefore, the researcher directed this study to determine the information needs and information-seeking patterns of students with a focus on university students in Bandung Raya. The study adopted a quantitative research design. A total of 602 students were the research sample. The online questionnaire was randomly administered to sample students. The authors found that the cognitive needs of university students in Bandung Raya were correlated with the initiation stage of the information seeking initiation stage. The authors also discovered that the cognitive needs of Bandung Raya students were correlated to the exploration stage of information search. Besides, the authors found that the formulation stage of information seeking was related to Bandung Raya students' cognitive needs. However, the research findings revealed that the Bandung Raya students' affective needs were more related to the selection stage, collection stage, and presentation stage of information-seeking behavior. The results of this study indicated the vital role of students’ affective and cognitive needs in shaping the way students sought the information they needed and why authorities should pay more attention to students' cognitive and affective needs for better academic performance.

Abstract

Information seeking leads to interactions within a system. At the same time, interaction patterns can potentially lead to a behavioral tendency and form a unique behavioral pattern. This research aimed to find out how information search behavior was carried out by students of the Library and Information Science Study Program in conducting literature searches on the Google Scholar platform by applying the stages of the Ellis Model. The research method used quantitative with a survey method. The results showed that at the starting stage, the correlation coefficient was moderate; at the chaining stage, the correlation coefficient was moderate; at the browsing stage, the correlation coefficient was below moderate; at the monitoring stage, the correlation coefficient was below moderate; at the differentiating stage, the correlation coefficient was moderate; and at the extracting stage, the correlation coefficient was below moderate. This study concludes that students know the topic they want to search before using Google Scholar. Chaining, browsing, and monitoring are done alternately at almost the same time. Students have observed the correlation coefficient numbers at the chaining, browsing, and monitoring stages; students pay more attention to the chaining stage, namely obtaining keywords. At the differentiating stage, students have begun to filter incoming information and use their ability to distinguish the sources of information obtained, and at the extracting stage, students work through the selected sources to identify all relevant materials.

Abstract

Kampung Seni dan Budaya Jelekong di Kabupaten Bandung dikenal dengan kekayaan seni dan budaya, terutama tradisi melukis yang diwariskan secara turun-temurun oleh Odin Rohidin sebagai tokoh yang pertama kali memperkenalkan seni lukis di kampung tersebut. Komunitas Gurat menjadi wadah bagi para pelukis di Jelekong untuk berbagi pengalaman dan pengetahuan tentang seni melukis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses dan manfaat berbagi pengetahuan (knowledge sharing) seni melukis dalam Komunitas Gurat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, dan data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung, wawancara, dokumentasi, serta studi pustaka. Proses berbagi pengetahuan dimulai dengan membangun rasa saling percaya di antara pelukis, dilanjutkan dengan sesi belajar bersama anggota yang lebih berpengalaman, praktik langsung menggunakan media kanvas, dan pemberian masukan serta koreksi secara kolaboratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berbagi pengetahuan ini mampu meningkatkan kompetensi dan keterampilan para pelukis, sehingga mereka dapat menciptakan berbagai jenis lukisan sesuai permintaan pasar. Selain itu, kegiatan berbagi pengetahuan ini juga berkontribusi pada peningkatan hasil penjualan lukisan, yang berdampak positif pada kesejahteraan ekonomi para pelukis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui korelasi kegiatan membaca teks ilmu pengetahuan menggunakan metode good reading dan Penilaian Acuan Patokan (PAP) dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Prestasi akademik mahasiswa menggunakan ketentuan indeks prestasi kumulatif (IPK). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dan metode observasi menggunakan studi eksperimen. Partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan Fakultas Ilmu Komunikasi Universitas Padjadjaran, dengan kelompok eksperimen (N=34), dan kelompok kontrol (N=44). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa prestasi akademik mahasiswa yang diklasifikasikan rendah, sedang, dan tinggi, memiliki hubungan significant dengan metode baca good reading. Prestasi akademik yang diklasifikasikan menggunakan metode PAP (Penilaian Acuan Patokan), memiliki hubungan significant dengan metode baca good reading. Dapat dikatakan bahwa metode PAP lebih cocok digunakan untuk mengklasifikasi prestasi akademik mahasiswa. Metode baca good reading memiliki kepercayaan lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan metode reading habit jika dikaitkan dengan prestasi akademik mahasiswa.

Abstract

Introduction. The integration of legal document management at PTKIN with JDIH is necessary to ensure legal certainty. This research aims to describe the process of managing legal documents and information integrated with JDIH within PTKIN. Data Collection Methods. This research uses qualitative methods with a case study approach. Data collection process were carried out by observations, interviews, and document reviews. There were from informants selected through a purposive approach. Data Analysis. Data analysis process were carried out by reducing data, presenting data, and conclusions. Results and Discussion. The management of legal documents at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung comprises three elements as per Permenkumham RI No.8/2019 and four phases of integration. These phases begin with the preparation of the Terms of Reference for the establishment of the JDIH institution and end with the official release from JDIHN, which is related to the jdih.uinsgd.ac.id website. Conclusion. The governance of legal documents integrated with JDIH involves three elements: abstracting, processing, and reporting. UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung’s integration with JDIH is considered as a pioneerin Indonesia’s PTKIN scope, making it a reference for other PTKINs in managing legal documents.
