Abstract

Lack of drinking water is a condition where the availability of clean water is insufficient to meet basic human needs. This study aims to build a rainwater treatment system based on the Passive Infrared (PIR) HC-SR501 sensor and the Arduino Uno device. The method used is the applied experimental method. The results of the study showed that the content of rainwater seen from the physical, chemical and biological properties after the filtration process was as follows: temperature 27.4 ° C, total dissolved solids (TDS) 163 mg/l, turbidity 1.31 NTU, color 0 TCU -> 0 TCU, odorless, pH 8.1, nitrate (as NO3) 0.7 mg/l, nitrate (as NO2) 0.12 mg/l, Chromium Valence 6 (Cr6+) 0 mg/l, Iron (Fe) 0.61 mg/l, Manganese (Mn) 0.03 mg/l, Chlorine Residue 0 mg/l, Arsenic (As) not detected, Cadmium (Cd) 0.060 mg/l, Lead (Pb) 0.06 mg/l, Fluoride (F) 0 mg/l, Aluminum 0.05 mg/l, Total Coliform 4 CFU/100ml, E.coli 0 CFU/100ml. This data shows that rainwater has changed from not drinkable to drinkable although there are some shortcomings that require modification, namely in the Ultraviolet lamp. The modified filtration treatment design can optimize the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the air.

Abstract

The problem of saline and cloudy groundwater quality in Tinumpuk Village, Purwosari District, Bojonegoro Regency, has rendered the government-built clean water distribution system unusable for the community. This community service program aims to provide an appropriate technological solution in the form of training and assistance in the construction of a two-stage groundwater filtration device. The first filter consists of a 550-liter tank filled with natural materials such as palm fiber, activated carbon, silica sand, and zeolite sand. The second filter, a Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) tube containing similar filtration media, functions to re-filter the water before distribution. The program involved village officials, youth organizations, and the general public through focus group discussions (FGDs), technical training, and live demonstrations. The results demonstrated increased community knowledge, skills, and awareness of the importance of sustainable groundwater management and water conservation. Testing of the filtration device demonstrated significant improvements in water quality, both visually and organoleptically. This program has had a positive impact on increasing access to clean water, strengthening community participation, and marking the first step toward community-based clean water independence.

Abstract

Customer segmentation is one of the important approaches in the banking industry to improve the effectiveness of marketing strategies and risk management. This study aims to compare the performance of two commonly used clustering algorithms, namely K-Means and DBSCAN, in segmenting customers based on bank marketing data. The data used comes from the bank marketing dataset available on Kaggle, including attributes such as age, type of employment, marital status, education level, savings balance, and previous campaign history. The analysis process includes data pre-processing, feature extraction, data standardization, and implementation of the clustering algorithm. Evaluation of the results using the Silhouette Score metric shows that the K-Means algorithm produces a higher Silhouette Score value and a lower Davies-Bouldin Index (DBI) than DBSCAN indicating that K-Means is able to produce more solid (compact) clusters and has clearer boundaries between data groups. However, DBSCAN shows advantages in the ability to detect noise and group data with irregular shapes. Thus, the selection of the best algorithm is highly dependent on the characteristics of the data and the purpose of the segmentation. For bank marketing data with a relatively uniform distribution, K-Means is a more optimal choice.

Abstract

Jari Village, located in Gondang District, Bojonegoro Regency, holds significant geotourism potential, particularly through two main geosites: Selo Gajah and Banyu Wedang. However, the lack of interpretative media and limited availability of scientific and cultural information on-site has led to low levels of public and visitor understanding regarding the importance of these geological sites. A community service program conducted by students of the Collaborative Thematic KKN (Community Service Program) from the University of Bojonegoro was carried out to design and install educational information boards that integrate scientific geological narratives with local folklore. Through a participatory approach, the program included the stages of site survey, content development, validation, and installation. The results showed that the information boards had a significant impact on improving public understanding, enriching the tourism experience, and fostering awareness of the need to preserve geological and cultural heritage. This program serves as an integrative model for developing educational and sustainable geotourism.

Abstract

Geotourism-based environmental conservation activities are a strategic effort to preserve geosites and raise public awareness of the importance of earth's heritage. Jari Village, Gondang District, Bojonegoro Regency, has the potential for geotourism in Banyu Wedang and Selo Gajah. This area is relatively arid and has minimal vegetation, necessitating geotourism-based conservation efforts involving the surrounding community. These activities aim to increase the local community's sense of ownership of the geosite, improve the ecology of the geosite, and enhance the area's aesthetic value to support geotourism development. The implementation method includes area surveys, planning and coordination, environmental education, and implementation. The 15 trees planted in Banyu Wedang are primarily food crops, consisting of 10 mango trees and 5 guava trees, as well as land clearing around Selo Gajah. The results of these activities demonstrate active community participation in tree planting in Banyu Wedang and community service at Selo Gajah. These activities are expected to enhance the area's aesthetics, prevent erosion, and raise awareness of geosite-based conservation.

Abstract

Urban waterlogging is a persistent environmental issue in rapidly developing areas such as Bojonegoro, Indonesia, driven by land cover change, inadequate urban drainage systems, and increasing climate variability. This study introduces a nature-based solution (NBS) approach involving the implementation of boezem (retention ponds) and infiltration wells to mitigate urban flooding risks. The community service program aimed to enhance the technical capacity of local agencies and promote evidence-based planning using EPA-SWMM hydrological modeling. The methodology included stakeholder outreach, participatory mapping, technical training sessions, and the construction of pilot infiltration infrastructures. The outcomes demonstrate significant improvements in institutional technical understanding, the establishment of a priority zone map for infiltration development, and the successful design and deployment of pilot-scale boezem and infiltration wells, validated through post-construction hydrological monitoring. Despite challenges such as limited funding and the lack of regulatory mandates, the findings suggest that participatory, model-informed NBS strategies can offer scalable, adaptive, and sustainable urban flood mitigation solutions.

Abstract

A community service activity through educational outreach on geodiversity conservation was conducted in Jari Village, Gondang District, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java. Jari Village has two potential geosites: the "Banyu Wedang" hot spring and the "Selo Gajah" stone altar, a relic of the ancient civilization. These sites offer educational, aesthetic, and economic value through geotourism development. However, this potential has not been optimally utilized due to limited public understanding and a lack of promotion as a geosite-based tourist destination. This activity aims to increase public awareness and active participation in protecting and managing the geosites as village assets with conservation value. The activity included lectures, interactive discussions, and a question-and-answer session. Speakers from the Bojonegoro Regional Planning and Development Agency (BAPPEDA) presented material on the importance of geodiversity conservation and its relationship to sustainable village development. The activity was met with enthusiasm from the community, as evidenced by the high number of participants attending and actively participating in discussions on the use of geosites for geotourism. The results of the activity indicated an increase in community understanding of the geopark concept, the benefits of geosite conservation, and the opportunities for village economic development through geotourism. With this activity, it is hoped that the community will not only be observers, but also become drivers in biodiversity conservation efforts and promoters of local tourism.
