Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat adalah suatu Gerakan atau proses pemberdayaan diri yang dilaksanakan oleh dosen tetap maupun mahasiswa untuk kepentingan masyarakat. Pengabdian masyarakat besifat berkesinambungan dan dalam jangka panjang karena dalam membangun sebuah pengabdian di dalam masyarakat dibutuhkan proses yang panjang. Banyak aspek yang harus di sentuh untuk menjadikan masyarakat itu lebih baik, karakternya, budidayanya, sampai pola pikirnya harus disentuh untuk benar-benar menciptakan suatu masyarakat yang lebih baik dan berkualitas. Pengabdian merupakan salah satu yang wajib kita laksanakan dari tiga tri dharma perguruan tinggi. KKN Tematik yang dilaksanakan oleh kampus Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global tahun 2022 mengedepankan tema Membangun desa melalui pendidikan. Tema itulah yang dari awal kita bangun untuk mencari informasi disekitar tempat kami melakukan kewajiban KKN ini. Membantu masyarakat dalam membangun desa melalui pendidikan ini dimaksudkan untuk membantu masyarakat tidak hanya dalam pelaksanaan pembangunan diberbagai bidang terutama pendidikan, tetapi juga dapat membantu warga dalam pembangunan di bidang ekonomi, lingkungan dan kesehatan. Kelompok KKN tematik ini melakukan kegiatan KKN tematik terintegrasi di salah satu desa yang berada di kecamatan jonggat tepatnya di Desa Bunkate. Penduduk desa bunkate umumnya bergerak di bidang budidaya pertanian, serta berdagang. Pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui peningkatkan kualitas pendidikan, ekonomi, kesehatan dan lingkungan masyarakat Bunkate.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyz what kinds of attitudes showed in President Barrack Obama's speech, how does President Barrack Obama express his attitudes, and how does President Barrack Obama amplify his attitude toward Islam in his Al-Azhar University speech. Based on the data analysis, this research concluded that president Barrack Obama showed the three kinds of attitude namely affect, judgment,and appreciation. The affect dominates the proportion of the attitudes employed in president Barrack Obama's speech 25 sentences it equal to 53%, followed by judgment in the second place'13 sentences it equal to 28%. Appreciation was the least resource of attitude used in the president Obama's speech 9 sentences it equal to 19%. The positive attitude consists of 36 sentences it equals to 77% than negative one consists of 11 sentences it equals to 23%, because he knew that America and Islam have been in tension. In amplifying his attitude the use of focus is more frequents than the force in which 33 sentences in focus and 14 sentences in force. As well as the amplification of President Barrack Obama's attitude tend to focus because America and Islam has been in tension therefore he focused on improving the relationship between America and Islam. As American president who spoke in front of Muslim majority, he was a marvelous leader who could analyze problems and find the solutions.

Abstract

This research study investigates students’ perception of using the Scavenger Hunt game to understand the social context of second language acquisition. The participant of this research was 12 undergraduate students in the 5th semester. The data were collected from questionnaires, documentation, and interview. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. This study revealed that Scavenger Hunt is an exciting way to understand the social context of Second Language Acquisition because the students experienced directly and what they did were examples of some issues in learning the social context of Second Language Acquisition (SLA). Teachers and lecturers should consider the integration of Scavenger Hunt and specific topics with some adaptation to make the activity effective in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

This research deals with the grammar skill that is the students understanding of passive voice. This research is aimed to investigate the students understanding of passive voice at the second semester students of English educational Program at Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global in academic year 2022/2023, the title is taken by the writer because he wants to answer the statement of problem that stated do the students have understanding of passive voice. Therefore, the writer proposed to find out whether the second semester students of English educational Program at Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global have understanding passive voice. In this research the writer gave two kinds of test to the students, the grammar test in multiple choice and modified test is changing the active sentence into passive sentence, the writer took the second semester students as the population that consist of four classes with the total students until 10 students and the writer took all of students as the sample. The result of the investigation showed from 23 students, the students who was classification as good were 8 students and 15 students were classification as low. Arriving at the end of this writing the writer restates the conclusion of research, the achievement level of second semester students of English educational Program at Institut Pendidikan Nusantara Global do not have understanding on passive voice

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out the effectiveness of Jigsaw technique in teaching reading. This study used an experimental design. The population of the research was 29 students and the sample was taken 29 students from all of the population. To take the sample the present researcher used purposive sampling technique. In collecting data, the present researcher used instrument to measure students’ effectiveness of Jigsaw Technique in reading. To analyze data, the present researcher used paired-samples t-test to find out the effectiveness of the technique. The result of data analysis that there was a significant difference in the scores between the pre-test and the post-test, was significance at p = 0.000, meaning that the null hypothesis is rejected (Ho) and alternative hypothesis is accepted (Ha).It means that there was a significant effectiveness of Jigsaw Technique in teaching reading for the tenth graders of MA NW Sikur in the academic year 2023-2024.

Abstract

The urgency of this study stems from the growing gap in English language learning, particularly in mastering English structures such as passive voice and complex sentences, which has widened in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. EFL students often struggle to comprehend complex grammatical forms, which adversely affects their writing and speaking proficiency. Adaptive AI-based technology presents a promising solution by offering personalized, interactive, and effective learning experiences. This study aims to experimentally investigate the effectiveness of adaptive AI technology in enhancing EFL students’ understanding of English structure, specifically by comparing it to conventional teaching methods. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach was employed. The population consisted of undergraduate students majoring in English, and the sample comprised 60 students divided equally into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received instruction using adaptive AI technology, while the control group was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through pretests, posttests, questionnaires, and interviews. Inferential statistical analysis, including MANOVA, was conducted to determine significant differences in grammar mastery between groups. The results indicated a statistically significant improvement in the experimental group's posttest scores (M = 84.70) compared to the control group (M = 74.30), particularly in mastering passive voice and complex sentences. Students also reported positive perceptions of the AI-based learning experience. This study contributes to the advancement of English language teaching and offers a scalable model for integrating adaptive AI in language education.

Abstract

The Audiolingual Method is a language teaching approach that emphasizes habit formation through repeated practice and positive reinforcement. The main aim of this service activity is to assist and introduce teachers to the audio-lingual method which can form students' correct language habits through intensive repetition of language patterns. In practice, teaching with this method begins with listening and speaking exercises before reading and writing. Applying this method requires students to memorize dialogue, imitate intonation and pronunciation correctly, and respond automatically to verbal stimuli. Correction of errors is carried out directly to prevent the formation of wrong habits. The use of the mother tongue is minimized, even avoided, so that students get used to thinking in English. The result of this activity is that the teachers are very enthusiastic in learning and applying the audiolingual method. Moreover, this activity is strengthened by participants and practical application directly to students. Overall, the Audiolingual method is effective in the early stages of language learning, especially to build basic oral skills. However, it needs to be combined with other approaches so that language mastery becomes more balanced and communicative.
