Abstract

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia's poverty rate at 26.36 million people in 2022, an increase of 0.04 million compared to the previous year. Poverty is an issue that must be addressed to achieve sustainable development (SDGs), particularly SDG 1, which aims to eradicate poverty. Organic waste is a potential resource in rural areas that can be economically utilized, creating business opportunities and jobs at the village level. This study explores PRODEKTIF (Productive Village Program), focusing on optimizing organic waste management through the Pentahelix concept to accelerate sustainable rural economic development. The research employs a qualitative approach using case study methods involving active participation from village communities, local governments, businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations in program development. The results show that increasing community productivity through the PRODEKTIF program promotes sustainable rural economic development by implementing the Pentahelix concept, which engages five key stakeholders: government, businesses, educational institutions, community organizations, and the community itself. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for governments, educational institutions, and communities in developing similar programs focused on organic waste management and rural economic empowerment.

Abstract

The millennial generation or the young generation plays a crucial role in building democracy in Indonesia because they have great potential to influence social and political changes in the future. According to a survey conducted by the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), only 14.6% of young people are interested in the Legislative branch, and only 14.1% of young people aspire to run for regional leadership positions. Some issues faced by the young generation in government include a lack of interest in politics, limited access to political education, and the dominance of political elites in decision-making. As of now, a survey conducted by the Democracy Association has recorded the election of 20 young regional leaders and 17 young deputy regional leaders who are under 34 years old. This means that 13.7% of millennials are in positions of power, presenting both challenges and opportunities for Indonesian democracy. The research methodology employed in this article is a qualitative descriptive approach using literature study techniques, wherein the author collects relevant articles related to the research topic. This study will discuss the opportunities for the young generation to play a role in government and the challenges they face in their involvement, as they are seen as the nation's future successors capable of contributing to the development of the democratic Republic of Indonesia

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries with the highest disaster vulnerability in the world due to its geographical, geological, and tropical climatic conditions. Kalibogor Village, Sukorejo Sub-district, Kendal Regency, is an area with potential natural disasters (landslides, drought) as well as non-natural hazards (traffic accidents and pest attacks). These conditions demand systematic efforts to improve community preparedness and resilience. The purpose of this program is to establish a Disaster Resilient Village (DESTANA) as a platform to strengthen community capacity through a participatory approach. The method used was descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques including participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The activities covered village resilience assessment (PKD), administrative and disaster risk mapping, evacuation route mapping, disaster management planning, establishment of Disaster Risk Reduction Forums (FPRB) and volunteers, as well as training for MSMEs on financial digitalization. The results show an increase in the village resilience score from 126.39 at the beginning to 129.39 at the end of the program, indicating improvements in knowledge, preparedness, and community participation. The program also succeeded in encouraging the formation of institutions and more structured disaster mitigation mechanisms. Thus, DESTANA in Kalibogor Village has provided tangible impacts in strengthening preparedness, fostering self-reliance, and supporting sustainable rural development.

Abstract

Pancasila as a philosophical system derived from the values inherent in the Indonesian nation serves as the state philosophy and a way of life. The internalization of Pancasila values is crucial to ensure that the younger generation develops a strong sense of national identity as Indonesians. This article analyzes: (1) the Pancasila values within the philosophy of life of the Bangka Malay community, known as “sepintu sedulang”, and (2) the internalization of Pancasila values in the“sepintu sedulang” philosophy through civic education learning. The methodology employed in this article is literature study. The findings indicate that the “sepintu sedulang” philosophy of the Bangka Malay community, manifested in the Nganggung tradition, encompasses Pancasila values such as religiosity, humanism, mutual cooperation, solidarity, and justice. Furthermore, civic education serves as a vital medium for internalizing Pancasila values, explored through cultural values in the community contextually. Therefore, the implementation of civic education in a community setting must incorporate Pancasila values derived from the community's philosophy of life and cultural heritage.

The importance of character education in equipping learners with the concept of Ki Hajar Dewantara in the holistic and sustainable independent curriculum. Method: This research utilizes a qualitative descriptive approach by conducting literature and case studies in schools. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documents related to the curriculum and implementation of character education. Results: of the study indicate that the education transformation adopting the concept of Ki Hajar Dewantara in the independent curriculum has a positive impact on students' character development. Through this approach, students become more active, motivated, and capable of developing positive attitudes, moral values, and social skills. Novelty: The research identifies several challenges in applying Ki Hajar Dewantara’s concept within the independent curriculum, including curriculum alignment with student needs, teachers’ readiness, and the required support from schools and stakeholders. The study finds that this concept has strong potential to nurture excellent character in the independent curriculum. Its novelty lies in presenting a clear integrative analysis that connects Ki Hajar Dewantara’s philosophical principles with the operational framework of the independent curriculum an approach not explicitly formulated in previous studies. This contribution enhances understanding of character education’s role in holistic and sustainable educational transformation.
