Abstract

The professionalism of lecturers is a crucial factor in ensuring the quality of higher education. Various policies have been implemented at various levels—national, institutional, and global—to regulate and improve the professionalism of lecturers. This article aims to systematically examine various forms of policies that contribute to the formation of lecturer professionalism. The data in this research were analyzed using a thematic approach by reviewing and coding relevant literature, policies, and reports from 2015–2024 to identify patterns in how different policies affect lecturer professionalism. The results of the study show that the diversity of policies reflects the dynamics of higher education needs that continue to develop, ranging from certification demands, tridharma performance, and internationalization of education to sustainable development. This article emphasizes the importance of synergy between national policies, institutional strategies, and adaptation to global trends to support lecturer professionalism holistically.

Abstract

Examining the issues, developments, and adjustments that the Islamic educational system has made in response to shifting times, global dynamics, and technological breakthroughs is the aim of this research.  Data was gathered using a qualitative approach using the library research method, including literature, policy papers, and prior study findings.  The results of the theme analysis demonstrate that the Islamic education system faces a variety of issues, both global and national.  These problems include the industrial revolution, government regulations, disjointed learning methodologies, and the expectations of 21st-century competence performance. At the national level, the low accreditation and recognition of religious educational institutions is also major obstacle. As a result, several innovations have been developed, including interactive teaching techniques, the adaptable curriculum that combines contemporary science with Islamic ideals, and the use of digital technology in the classroom. In addition, the Islamic education system also shows efforts to adapt to the times through the transformation of educational orientation, the adoption of 21st-century methods, and the integration of intra-, co-, and extra-curricular learning. These findings show that despite facing complex challenges, the Islamic education system in Indonesia has great potential to develop adaptively, innovatively, and relevantly in responding to current and future educational needs.

Abstract

This research explores the multifaceted challenges in Indonesia’s education system, particularly within the national and Islamic education sectors. Using a qualitative library research approach, the study analyzes relevant academic sources, expert opinions, and policy documents to identify core issues and potential strategies. Data analysis is conducted through thematic content analysis, enabling the identification of recurring patterns, concepts, and policy implications across the selected literature. Findings reveal that in the VUCA era, Indonesia's education system faces challenges in economic transformation, socio-cultural shifts, labor market demands, and alignment with Indonesia’s 2045 vision. Expert perspectives emphasize the need for cyber-based learning models and a balanced integration of technology and human values. Additionally, the Policy Forum on Education (PFoE) outlines eight major challenges, such as teacher competence, curriculum adaptability, digitalization, and inclusivity. In Islamic education, core issues include limited institutional capacity, weak graduate recognition, and inadequate quality assurance. The research highlights strategies to improve Islamic education through institutional strengthening, curriculum standardization, and quality service delivery. These findings underscore the urgent need for an integrated, adaptive, and inclusive educational framework to prepare Indonesia’s future generations.

Abstract

Strategic planning is a critical instrument for enhancing governance in State Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKIN) in Indonesia. This study explores the structure, content, and role of strategic plans within PTKIN as tools to align institutional goals with national educational policies, including the Merdeka Belajar–Kampus Merdeka program and the Religious Moderation Roadmap. Utilizing qualitative document analysis, this research used SWOT and TOWS frameworks to formulate adaptive strategies that address internal strengths and weaknesses as well as external opportunities and threats. The instrument also joined with the synthesis of many successful cases of strategic planning reported and government perspectives in many studies. The findings indicate that while PTKIN have developed comprehensive strategic plans, challenges persist in their implementation, particularly regarding monitoring, stakeholder involvement, and integration of moderate Islamic values into operational activities. The study concludes that effective strategic planning, supported by participatory processes, outcome-based indicators, and financial diversification, is essential for PTKIN to achieve sustainable institutional development and contribute meaningfully to national and global educational goals.
