Abstract

Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers in women and ranks as the second leading cause of cancer-related mortality in Indonesia. Its management largely depends on the stage of disease and often requires multimodal approaches. A retrospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted using medical records of 185 hospitalized cervical cancer patients from January to December 2024. Data collected included age, disease stage, type of therapy, drug utilization, routes of administration, and histopathological findings. Descriptive analysis was performed and presented as frequency distributions and percentages. Most patients were aged 45–64 years (58.9%) and diagnosed at stage III (49.73%). The most common therapy was surgery (49.73%), followed by brachytherapy (20.54%) and chemotherapy (11.8%). Tranexamic acid was the most frequently prescribed drug (22.01%), while cisplatin paclitacxel and carboplatin were the primary chemotherapeutic agents. The intravenous route dominated drug administration (72.03%). Histopathology most frequently revealed medium-sized tissue lesions (3–5 cm; 21.08%). The majority of cervical cancer patients were diagnosed at advanced stages and underwent surgery as the primary treatment. Cisplatin remains the gold standard chemotherapy agent, administered primarily via the intravenous route. These findings highlight the urgent need for early detection, expanded screening, and HPV vaccination programs to reduce advanced-stage cases. Keywords: malignant carcinoma of cervix, hospitalize patient, drug utilization, histopathology.

Abstract

Lalang Sembawa Village, a partner village of Poltekkes Kemenkes Palembang in Banyuasin Regency, faces a substantial burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly Cancer, Heart Disease, Stroke, and Urological disorders (KJSU). Screening data from the South Sumatra Provincial Health Office in 2025 indicated a high proportion of residents at risk of colon cancer, cardiovascular disease, and stroke. These findings were supported by Poskesdes records through April 2026, which documented 126 cases of cardiovascular disease and hypertension and 38 cases of diabetes mellitus. Two key challenges were identified: (1) limited knowledge among community members and health cadres regarding KJSU prevention and dietary management of NCDs; and (2) insufficient understanding among health cadres and Primary Health Center staff of the transition from the conventional Posyandu model to the Integrated Primary Care (ILP) system, resulting in suboptimal implementation. To address these challenges, an interprofessional community empowerment program involving seven health disciplines was conducted on 17 April 2026, engaging 75 participants, including community members, health cadres, Primary Health Center staff, and village officials. The program combined health education on KJSU and NCD dietary management with cadre mentoring and refresher training on ILP implementation. The intervention enhanced participants' knowledge of KJSU prevention and healthy dietary practices while strengthening cadres' understanding of ILP roles and the importance of integrating Free Health Check services into routine Posyandu activities. These outcomes support the development of a more knowledgeable and self-reliant community in preventing and managing NCDs in Lalang Sembawa Village

Abstract

Anemia in adolescent girls can have many adverse effects, such as decreased fitness, reduced academic performance, and increased risk during future pregnancies. One way to prevent it is by taking iron pills, also known as blood-boosting tablets. The research aimed to determine the association between knowledge and compliance with blood supplement tablet consumption and the Incidence of Anemia. The methodology of this research employed an analytical survey design, utilizing a cross-sectional approach. All female students in grades VII, VIII, and IX at Junior High School 10 Sekayu in 2025 were included in the study, totaling 66 students. Data analysis used the Chi-square test with α=0.05 to test the relationship between variables. The results of the study showed a significant relationship between the variable association between knowledge with Anemia Incidence (p-value=0.001). The variable Compliance with Iron Tablet Consumption and the incidence of anemia showed a significant relationship (p-value=0.004). Adherence to iron supplementation has been shown to be crucial for successful anemia prevention, but other factors such as dietary intake, nutritional status, comorbidities, and environmental support are also important. Efforts to improve knowledge and compliance with iron supplement consumption need to be continuously carried out, supported by schools, health workers, and families.

Abstract

The use of intrauterine devices (IUDs) as a long-term contraceptive method remains low in Indonesia despite their high effectiveness and durability. Mothers' knowledge and attitudes greatly influence their decision to choose IUD contraception. This study aims to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and attitudes and the use of IUD contraception in the working area of the Lumpatan Community Health Center in 2025. An analytical survey with a case-control design using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 80 respondents (40 cases of IUD users, 40 controls who were not IUD users). Data were collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire with Chi-square analysis. 62.5% of respondents had good knowledge, 52.5% had a positive attitude, and IUD use was 50%. There was a significant association between knowledge (p=0.038) and attitude (p=0.020) with IUD use. Mothers with insufficient knowledge were three times more likely not to use IUDs, and negative attitudes increased the risk of not using IUDs by 5.3 times (OR=5.286). Knowledge and attitude play a crucial role in IUD use. Education and attitude interventions for mothers are recommended to increase IUD use.
