Abstract

Penyakit perut seperti maag, diare, dan lain-lain bisa diatasi dengan menggunakan obat-obatan sintetis atau antibiotik, baik yang diresepkan oleh dokter maupun yang dijual bebas. Namun, obat-obatan tersebut dapat berkemungkinan memberikan efek samping pada penderita dan bahkan beberapa penyakit bisa mengalami resistensi. Penggunaan tanaman obat keluarga sebagai alternatif herbal bisa menjadi solusi karena senyawa metabolit sekundernya bermanfaat dalam pencegahan dan penyembuhan penyakit seperti sakit perut, serta sifatnya yang alami sekaligus dipercaya memiliki sifat toksik yang lebih minimal. Maka dari itu, kegiatan pengabdian tentang sosialisi tumbuhan obat keluarga sebagai obat sakit perut dan pelatihan salah satu penggunaan racikannya pada masakan dilaksanakan pada Desa Patoman, Pagelaran, Pringsewu, Lampung. Desa Patoman merupakan salah satu daerah yang memiliki tanaman-tanaman herbal. Namun, dalam hal pengolahannya, masih diperlukan peningkatan pengetahuan, salah satunya melalui pemanfaatan racikan herbal dalam masakan untuk mengurangi rasa sepat, pahit, atau rasa tidak enak lainnya. Pengenalan salah satu cara memasak makanan khas berkhasiat obat dari Aceh, khususnya dari Suku Gayo yaitu Cecah Benyet/Menet memiliki potensi yang sangat menjanjikan. Makanan tradisional Cecah Benyet/Menet berasa lezat tanpa menghilangkan khasiatnya sebagai obat sakit perut yang dibuat dengan memanfaatkan racikan sari kulit batang tanaman obat sebagai bagian dari bumbunya. Diharapkan, kegiatan pengabdian ini menumbuhkan pemahaman masyarakat tentang cara meracik tumbuhan obat, serta pemanfaatan racikan agar lebih disukai bagi pengonsumsinya.

Abstract

Biomassa merupakan salah satu sumber energi alternatif yang dapat dijadikan biopelet. Biopelet merupakan adalah jenis bahan bakar padat berbentuk pelet yang memiliki keseragaman ukuran, bentuk, kelembaban, densitas dan kandungan energi. Biopelet ini dapat dibuat dari berbagai biomassa, salah satunya yaitu kayu karet. Karet merupakan salah satu sumber daya alam yang terdapat di Provinsi Lampung, berdasarkan data direktorat jenderal Perkebunan tahun 2023, Provinsi Lampung memiliki luas areal 4,57% dari seluruh luas areal Perkebunan karet di Indonesia. Desa Tarahan yang berada di Kabupaten Lampung Selatan, merupakan salah satu daerah yang memiliki lahan karet di dalamnya, sehingga perlu diberikan sosialisasi pemanfaatan limbah biomassa kayu karet untuk pembuatan biopelet. Kegiatan sosialisasi dilakukan di Balai Desa, Desa Tarahan yang diikuti sebanyak 25 peserta. Sebelum pelaksanaan sosialisasi peserta diberikan soal pretest, dan setelah kegiatan sosialisasi diberikan soal postest. Berdasarkan hasil pretest dan postest, terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan peserta tentang pemanfaatan kayu karet sebagai biopelet

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) is a widely studied semiconductor material due to its broad range of applications. ZnO is known for its stability and can be synthesized using various methods. One of the approaches employed in this study is the co-precipitation method with a green synthesis approach. The green synthesis principle applied in this research involves minimizing the use of synthetic chemicals by substituting them with natural materials. Mango leaves (Mangifera sp.), which are readily available in the environment, contain secondary metabolites which can act as the capping agents in synthesis ZnO nanoparticle. The role of the capping agent is to limit particle interactions, thereby reducing agglomeration. ZnO synthesis was carried out at a low temperature by mixing Zn²⁺ precursor, NaOH, and mangifera sp. leaf extract, followed by stirring. The heating process was conducted at 130°C for 4 hours. The synthesized material was characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-DRS, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The characterization results confirmed that the ZnO sample exhibited a hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure, a nanoflower morphology, and a band gap energy of 3.26 eV. Abstract

The increasing demand for clean water sources aligns with the continuous growth of the human population and environmental challenges. Water is a fundamental necessity for sustaining life, and its quality must be maintained to ensure safe utilization. However, contamination by heavy metals significantly degrades water quality, rendering it unsuitable for human consumption and daily use. Among various detection methods, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have emerged as promising nanomaterials for identifying the presence of heavy metal ions in water sources, including mercury (II) ions (Hg²⁺). The detection mechanism is based on colorimetric changes that can be further analyzed using UV-visible spectrophotometry. In this study, silver nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a green synthesis approach using Moringa oleifera leaf extract as a bioreducing agent. The optimal synthesis conditions were established at a precursor concentration of 2.5 mM, a reaction temperature of 50°C, and a synthesis duration of 90 minutes. The resulting AgNPs exhibited an average particle size of 103.8 nm and demonstrated stability for up to three days. Furthermore, the synthesized AgNPs showed high sensitivity in detecting mercury (II) ions at concentrations as low as 20 ppm, highlighting their potential application in water quality monitoring and environmental remediation.

Abstract

Ekstrak buah Clidemia hirta telah dipilih sebagai mitra reaksi dengan senyawa kloroaurat dalam reaksi yang menghasilkan nanopartikel emas. Ekstrak buah Clidemia hirta diperoleh dengan cara sederhana yaitu dengan memanaskan buah dalam air demineralisasi pada suhu 70 ºC. Ekstrak yang diperoleh dicampur dengan larutan yang mengandung ion emas pada suhu kamar. Reaksi berlangsung cepat, ditunjukkan dengan perubahan warna ekstrak yang cepat ketika ditambahkan tetes demi tetes ke dalam larutan ion emas. Berdasarkan analisis Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) ukuran partikel berada di antara ukuran nano dan mikro. Hasil analisis menggunakan particle size analyzer (PSA) menunjukkan bahwa kondisi saat ini memberikan rata-rata ukuran partikel sebesar 121 nm.

Abstract

Methylene blue dye is widely used in various industries, but improper disposal can severely harm aquatic ecosystems. Zinc oxide (ZnO), a well-known semiconductor, is frequently employed to degrade dye pollutants in aqueous media. This study synthesized ZnO nanoparticles via a precipitation method incorporating a green synthesis approach, utilizing Persea sp (Persea sp.) leaf extract as an eco-friendly alternative to synthetic chemical reagents. Persea sp leaves contain diverse secondary metabolites, including saponins, alkaloids, tannins, flavonoids, and phenolics, which act as capping agents during water-based synthesis. Characterization was conducted using X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV–visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (UV-DRS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photocatalytic activity of the ZnO nanoparticles toward methylene blue degradation was evaluated under UV irradiation at time intervals of 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60 minutes. UV-DRS results indicated a maximum absorption wavelength of 364 nm with a band gap energy of 3.26 eV. XRD analysis confirmed a hexagonal wurtzite structure (JCPDS no. 36-1451) with an average crystallite size of 21.24 nm. SEM imaging revealed a nanospherical morphology with an average particle size of 79.28 nm. The synthesized ZnO nanoparticles achieved 61.77% degradation efficiency for 5 ppm methylene blue. These findings demonstrate that green-synthesized ZnO nanoparticles from Persea sp. leaf have promising potential as sustainable photocatalysts for dye removal, contributing to the development of environmentally friendly wastewater treatment technologies

Abstract

Zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles are one of the most widely studied nanoparticles for various applications and other alternatives because of their unique properties. The uniqueness of these properties depends on the technique used to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles. This study aims to synthesize ZnO nanoparticles using tomato crude extract as a capping agent and to analyze the antioxidant activity of ZnO nanoparticles using DPPH and ascorbic acid as standard solutions. The synthesized powder of ZnO nanoparticles was characterized using XRD and SEM. The results obtained for the crystal size of the capping agent and without the capping agent were 20.597 nm and 24.717 nm according to JCPDS No. 00-036-1451. The particle size of ZnO using tomato extract as a capping agent is 43.325 nm which indicates that the particles are in the nanosize range and are spherical in shape. The IC50 yield of ZnO nanoparticles using a capping agent was 133.9623 ppm which indicated that ZnO nanoparticles had moderate antioxidant activity.
