Abstract

This study used classroom action research at SMPN 1 Curup Timur in Bengkulu, using the shadowing technique to assist students in resolving their English pronunciation issues. As participants, 25 ninth-grade students were involved. The shadowing technique was carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of three meetings. Two meetings were scheduled for the shadowing learning processes, with the third serving as a post-test. Observations and tests were used to collect data. The data were analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. This study uncovered two sets of data. First, for each meeting in each cycle, the process of learning English pronunciation using shadowing techniques included ten stages that included listening, listening while marking, mumbling, parallel reading, comprehending meanings, shadowing prosody sounds, recording, listening, and making comparisons, reviewing, and reflecting. Second, the shadowing technique was effective in improving students' English pronunciation skills. In cycle one, this technique was capable of improving English pronunciation indicators such as phonemes, sound combinations, and sound linkage. Following that, in cycle two, this technique could improve four other indicators: allophones, stress, rhythm and pitch, and intonation.

Abstract

Character education is a vital component in shaping a generation with integrity and readiness to face future challenges. This study aims to identify effective models and approaches within Islamic psychology-based education strategies for student character development and to determine the success indicators of these strategies through a bibliometric review. Utilizing systematic literature reviews and bibliometric analysis, this research gathers and analyzes data from various relevant sources. The findings reveal that integrating moral and spiritual values into the curriculum significantly impacts students' development across academic, moral, spiritual, emotional, social, personal, cultural, and environmental dimensions. Effective models and approaches include fitrah-based education, tarbiyah, and akhlaq teaching, along with the involvement of parents and the community. The use of technology in character education, through Islamic psychology-based applications and platforms, also enhances student engagement and aids in the internalization of moral and spiritual values. Identified success indicators include improved academic performance, moral and ethical development, heightened spiritual awareness, engagement in social and environmental activities, and a reduction in negative behaviors. This study provides practical guidance for educators and policymakers in designing comprehensive and sustainable character education programs. Additionally, it makes a significant contribution to the academic literature by demonstrating the effectiveness of Islamic psychology-based education strategies in fostering strong and integral student character. The application of these findings is expected to assist schools and educators in cultivating a generation that is well-prepared to meet future challenges with solid character and high moral values.

Abstract

Adaptation theory explains that mothers’ subjective well-being (SWB) is determined by their abilities to adapt to challenging life events using coping mechanisms. The literature highlights three latent coping mechanism factors: emotional regulation, mindfulness, and gratitude. This study aims to build a model of mothers’ SWB based on these factors. The sample comprised 302 young mothers (20-25 years old) selected using convenience sampling. Data were solicited from Likert scales that measured emotion regulation, mindfulness, gratitude, and SWB and analyzed using structural equation modeling. The results show that the SWB model had adequate goodness of fit, with a chi-square of 153.553 (p < .05), GFI of .934, AGFI of .899, CFI of .929, TLI of .906, and RMSEA of .076. The model shows that emotion regulation and mindfulness, mediated by gratitude, influenced SWB, with gratitude as a strong predictor of SWB. As an implication in counseling, gratitude interventions should be applied in practice.

Abstract

This study explored the implementation of moral education in enhancing self-efficacy, moral development, and social intelligence among Muslim adolescents, along with its theoretical implications. Using a comprehensive literature review method, data sources included journals, books, and academic publications related to moral education and youth development. Data were collected through the identification, selection, and critical analysis of relevant literature. The findings indicate that moral education, emphasizing values such as honesty, justice, and responsibility, significantly enhances students' self-efficacy. Structured programs involving personal reflection, group discussions, and community service projects help students develop self-confidence, moral awareness, and ethical decision-making skills. A supportive environment and positive reinforcement also play crucial roles in promoting positive social interactions and social skills like empathy and cooperation. These findings support theories of moral development and Bandura's self-efficacy theory, highlighting the importance of direct experience, positive reinforcement, and social interaction in the development of social and moral skills. Structured moral education provides a strong foundation for students' personal and social development, preparing them to become ethical, confident, and adaptable individuals in society.

Abstract

The background of this study is based on the importance of integrating moral education with academic education to create a more holistic learning environment. Islamic values such as honesty, justice, and responsibility are considered essential in the cognitive development of students. This research aims to identify and analyze how Islamic values can be integrated into students' cognitive development, as well as the normative approaches that can be used to incorporate Islamic values into the educational curriculum. The method used is a literature review by analyzing various relevant data sources. The key findings show that values such as honesty, justice, and responsibility play a crucial role in shaping students' critical and analytical thinking. Strategies like curriculum integration, thematic learning, and project-based learning (PBL) have proven effective in incorporating Islamic values into education. The results of this study support holistic education theory, which combines moral and cognitive aspects in learning. These findings make an important contribution to the existing literature and offer practical guidelines for educators and policymakers in creating a more holistic and balanced learning environment. The study has some limitations, including reliance on available literature and variability in the quality and methods of the research used. Further research is needed to explore how Islamic values can be integrated into various educational contexts and to evaluate the long-term impact of this integration on students' cognitive and moral development. Overall, the integration of Islamic values in education has the potential to yield long-term positive effects on students and the broader society.

Abstract

In response to growing concerns about the decline of Qur’anic literacy among university students, this mixed-methods study examined both the measurable improvements in reading proficiency resulting from the Mahasiswa Mengaji program—an initiative of the Rector at the State Islamic Institute of Curup (IAIN Curup)—and the contextual factors that facilitated these improvements. A total of 500 students participated in a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design, with their Qur’anic reading skills assessed across phonological accuracy, reading fluency, and tajwīd application. Ten participants were purposively selected for in-depth interviews, analyzed using the interactive model, to explore the underlying supports that influenced these outcomes. Quantitative findings showed significant gains in all domains: phonological accuracy (t = 31.276, p < 0.001), reading fluency (t = 40.842, p < 0.001), and tajwīd application (t = 39.525, p < 0.001), confirming the program’s effectiveness in enhancing Qur’anic reading. Complementing this, qualitative results identified eight key enabling supports, namely self-regulated learning, teacher scaffolding and presence, peer support, family motivation, internal drive, accessible learning resources, and consistent practice, that explain the mechanisms behind the observed improvements. Taken together, the integration of statistical evidence and thematic insights demonstrates how the program functions not only as an effective intervention but also as a holistic educational strategy for strengthening Qur’anic reading skills.
