Abstract

Student learning outcomes are an indicator of the success of teaching and learning activities carried out. This research aims to determine the improvement in student learning outcomes in economics courses by implementing the problem-based learning model a quantitative research method with a quasi-experimental approach. The population of this research was 205 students in class XI social at SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya, and the sample used was 136 students using a purposive sampling technique consisting of two experimental classes and two control classes. The experimental class uses the Problem-Based Learning learning model, while the control class uses the conventional learning model. Students in each class are given a pretest, and then learning is carried out according to a predetermined model, and then a posttest is carried out. The questions used are 25 multiple-choice questions, and then the results or grades obtained by students are analyzed further.  The results of this study show that there are differences between before and after treatment in the experimental class and control class. This research concludes that the implications of implementing a problem-based learning model as an alternative to conventional models can be used in an effort to improve student learning outcomes in economics courses.

Abstract

Learning outcomes reflect the extent to which students understand the material taught and how well they can apply that knowledge in practical situations. This research focuses on the low student learning outcomes in Economics lessons at the high school level. This research aims to determine the increase in student learning results by applying the Cooperative Learning type learning model Make a Match. The research method is a quasi-experimental quantitative approach. The population was 205 SMAN 7 Tasikmalaya class XI science students who study economics. The sampling technique used purposive sampling to obtain 68 students in two classes. The class is divided into two, namely experiments with learning models: Cooperative Learning Make a Match type and control class using models conventional with the lecture method. Technique data collection with 30 multiple-choice test questions. The research results showed statistically significant differences in the increase in student learning outcomes in the experimental class using the Make a Match type Cooperative Learning model and the control class using the conventional model after being given treatment. Thus, the application of the Cooperative Learning model with material designed to be more interactive as an alternative to conventional models can be used to improve student learning outcomes.

The quantitative research method utilized a survey technique conducted with students of SMAN 1 Manonjaya consisted of 462 social class students with a sample of 206 students selected using simple random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire with 40 statement items, all scored using a 5-point Likert scale and data analysis employed path analysis. Results indicated that socio-economic status and self-efficacy influences on learning interest, socio-economic status and self-efficacy do not influence academic achievement, learning interest influences on academic achievement, socio-economic status does not influence academic achievement through learning interest, and self-efficacy does not influence academic achievement through learning interest.

Abstract

In many schools, students' critical thinking abilities are still relatively low, reflected in their difficulty in analyzing information in depth, constructing logical arguments, and solving problems effectively. This research aims to determine the extent to which applying the Guided Inquiry learning model can improve students' critical thinking abilities. The method used in this research is an experiment with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population used in this research was class XI IPS students at SMAN 6 Tasikmalaya with 198 students, and the sampling technique used was purposive sampling, where the sample was determined based on student activities. Class XI IPS 3 was chosen as the experimental class, which applied the Guided Inquiry model, while class XI IPS 4 was used as the control class, which used the discovery learning model. The instrument used is a set of 22 essay questions. The research results show a significant difference in critical thinking skills between the experimental and control classes, indicating that implementing the Guided Inquiry learning model effectively improves students' critical thinking skills. Hopefully, this research will become a reference for developing more effective strategies and learning models in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) model on students' critical thinking skills in the subject of Economics. The research method employed a quasi-experimental design with a Nonequivalent Control Group Design, involving two eleventh-grade (XI) classes at SMAN 9 Garut as the research sample. The instrument used was a critical thinking skills essay test based on Ennis's indicators. The results indicated an improvement in critical thinking skills in both classes; however, the experimental class showed a more significant improvement compared to the control class. The average posttest score of the experimental class was 74.35, which was higher than the control class at 64.53, with N-Gain values of 0.36 (medium category) and 0.17 (low category), respectively. The independent sample t-test yielded a Sig. value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the two classes after the treatment. Thus, it can be concluded that CTL has a significant influence and is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills as it provides meaningful learning experiences by connecting the material with real-life contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital financial literacy on the prudent use of Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) services among the 2022–2024 cohorts of Economic Education students at Siliwangi University. This research is motivated by the rapid growth of BNPL usage among the younger generation, which is frequently unaccompanied by a sufficient understanding of financial risks, thereby potentially leading to consumptive behavior and bad debt. This study employed a quantitative survey method involving 205 students selected via purposive sampling, with data collected through questionnaires. The results of the simple linear regression analysis yielded the equation y^=11.505+0.791X, indicating that higher digital financial literacy corresponds to more prudent use of BNPL services. These findings confirm a positive and significant influence of digital financial literacy on the prudent use of BNPL and underscore the importance of enhancing digital financial literacy to foster healthier financial behaviors among students.
