Abstract

Abstract

Talent identification in young karate athletes is a crucial phase for optimizing targeted achievement development programs. This study aims to apply the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) method to establish a priority hierarchy of criteria and sub-criteria in talent development for karate athletes aged 6–12 in West Java Province. This study involved 22 karate experts, consisting of coaches and accomplished athletes, to assess the weighting of three main criteria:antropometer, biomotor, andsomatotype, which were further broken down into 14 sub-criteria. Quantitative data analysis was performed using Expert Choice 11 software. The results of the analysis show that in the domainantropometer, height (0.173) is the indicator with the highest priority. In the biomotor domain, agility (0.225) shows the highest weight value compared to strength, endurance, speed, and flexibility. Meanwhile, in the domainsomatotype, body typologymesomorf(0.418) ranks as the top priority, followed by endomorph (0.379) and ectomorph (0.202). Comprehensively, the criteriasomatotype(34%) made the most significant contribution to the overall talent identification model, followed by biomotor andantropometer. These findings affirm the AHP's capability in developing a systematic and objective talent identification model, which can serve as a strategic guideline for coaches in the selection and development process of potential karate athletes from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between coaches’ leadership style and athletes’ satisfaction toward their coach and sports performance satisfaction among junior athletes at the national and provincial levels in West Java. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with an associative survey design. The sample consisted of 47 athletes enrolled in the Sentra Pembinaan Olahragawan Berbakat Nasional (SPOBNas) and Satuan Pendidikan Olahragawan Daerah (SPOBDA) of West Java, selected through purposive sampling. Research instruments included the Leadership Scale for Sports (LSS), Satisfaction Scale for Athletes (SSA), and Athlete’s Subjective Performance Scale (ASPS). Data were analyzed using Spearman’s Rank correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results revealed a strong and significant positive relationship between the coach’s leadership style and athletes’ satisfaction toward the coach (rₛ = 0.684; p < 0.01), but no significant relationship between leadership style and satisfaction toward sports performance (rₛ = 0.151; p > 0.05). These findings indicate that coaches’ leadership plays a crucial role in shaping athletes’ interpersonal satisfaction, whereas performance satisfaction is more influenced by internal factors such as motivation and personal experience. The study highlights the importance of adopting adaptive, participative, and humanistic leadership styles in the coaching of young athletes.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the factors that influence ball speed in drag flicks in hockey. Samples were taken from amateur and professional male hockey players according to predetermined biomechanical variables. Using a type of quantitative research that focuses on observing the body mechanics of athletes from the hockey student activity unit at the Indonesian University of Education and senior athletes who have played at national and international levels. Divided into 2 group categories professional by senior athletes who have appeared in national and international events, and amateur groups by UKM HOKI UPI athletes. Each individual was allowed to carry out the movement 3 repetitions to achieve the best results, which were recorded and then analyzed via Kinovea - 0.9.5 software for each movement, then the average results for each movement phase were entered into SPSS 26 for sample testing. t test which is then compared between the influential variables obtained to find out the significant differences that exist between the processes and results of the professional and amateur groups. The results of this study show that factors that show differences in several phases that influence the results of professional teams are superior to amateur teams. Among them are total approach distance (TDA), length of pull (DL), angle of movement of the left leg knee during drag (LKA), width between two legs (SW), and stick speed (SV). The five selected independent variables show a significant correlated influence on the final speed of the ball when launched. In conclusion, this research highlights the importance of adjusting drag flick performance factors according to biomechanical variables to improve overall performance based on the results that have been analyzed in professional groups.

Abstract

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art characterized by rapid kicks. In the combat category, technical ability is the key to success in gaining points. The aphurigi technique (axe kick) is one of the important techniques in taekwondo because the technique gives a point contribution of around 20% in the match. Thus, it is necessary to investigate kinematic analysis to determine the kinematic parameters that contribute to the success of the aphurigi (axe kick) kick technique. 24 athletes were involved in this research, divided into 2 groups, namely the national level group and the regional group. All samples performed aphurigi kicks, then recorded using a camera and analyzed using skill spector software in 2 dimensions. There are 6 parameters analyzed consisting of kick speed, hip position, angular speed, and kick range. From the measurements that have been carried out, the results show that national-level athletes have significant differences compared to regional athletes in kick speed in the upswing phase, p-0.003, hip position, p-0.045, and knee angle in the upswing phase, p-0.026. However, there were no significant differences in other parameters, including kick speed in the upswing phase, kick range, and knee angle in the upswing phase. The results show the importance of a specific training program to train kinematic parameters that can influence aphurigi kick performance, therefore amateur athletes can master effective kick techniques and compete at the national level.

Abstract

Sampel berjumlah 12 pemain putri klub futsal 35 Kota Bandung.
