Abstract

This study examines the impact of halal tourism on return intention, with homophily as a mediating variable among visitors from North Sumatra who travel to tourist destinations in Sabang Island and Banda Aceh. The growing interest in halal tourism highlights the importance of aligning tourism services with travelers' religious beliefs. However, there remains a gap in understanding how perceived social and cultural similarities (homophily) can enhance revisit intention. A quantitative approach was used, employing a survey technique to collect data from 95 respondents through accidental sampling. Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) was applied to assess direct and indirect relationships between variables. The findings show that halal tourism positively and significantly impacts revisit intention. Additionally, halal tourism significantly influences homophily, which, in turn, affects revisit intention. These results suggest that homophily mediates the relationship between halal tourism and return intention. When tourists share similar beliefs, lifestyles, and religious practices with a destination, it fosters emotional connection and comfort. This study emphasizes the importance of developing halal tourism locations that not only provide sharia-compliant facilities but also cultivate social interactions tailored to tourists' attributes. Destination managers and stakeholders must focus on value alignment, community engagement, and inclusive social interactions to enhance tourist loyalty and encourage repeat visits

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate how resilience, digital innovation, and green tourism can enhance climate change adaptation in Sugihen Tourism Village, North Sumatra. Through a stratified proportional random sampling procedure, 300 respondents representing tourism company owners, local communities, village government, tourism awareness groups, and tourists were surveyed to collect quantitative data. Surveys and interviews were used to collect primary data, while government statistics and relevant publications were used to collect secondary data. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using SmartPLS 4 was used for data analysis. The findings revealed that climate change adaptation was positively and significantly influenced by resilience, digital innovation, and green tourism. Furthermore, the relationship between resilience and climate change was significantly mediated by digital innovation and green tourism, indicating that the adoption of sustainable tourism practices and technological solutions is more common in resilient areas. These results imply that combining digital innovation with green tourism tactics can enhance tourism competitiveness, promote sustainable local development, and improve climate resilience at the village level. Policymakers and stakeholders in rural tourism destinations facing climate change issues can benefit from this research's conceptual model, which integrates digital transformation, socio-ecological resilience, and environmentally conscious tourism.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of work commitment on employee performance in the Pastry and Bakery Department at Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts Jimbaran, Bali. Work commitment is considered an important factor in improving employee performance because committed employees tend to be more engaged, responsible, and motivated in carrying out their duties. This research employed a descriptive and causal quantitative approach. The population consisted of 45 employees working in the Pastry and Bakery Department, and census sampling was used so that all employees became respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires, interviews, and observations. The data were analyzed using validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistics, normality test, correlation analysis, coefficient of determination, simple linear regression, and hypothesis testing using the Z-test. The findings revealed that work commitment has a significant influence on employee performance. The correlation coefficient was 0.819, indicating a strong positive relationship between work commitment and employee performance. The coefficient of determination showed that 67.10% of employee performance could be explained by work commitment, while the remaining 32.90% was influenced by other factors outside the research model. Furthermore, the Z-test result showed that Zcount was greater than Ztable (5.43 > 1.96), indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, work commitment significantly influences employee performance at Four Seasons Hotel and Resorts Jimbaran, Bali
