Abstract

Chemistry learning requires students to develop the ability to comprehend complex and abstract concepts through the interconnection of macroscopic, microscopic, and symbolic levels of representation. However, numerous studies have revealed that students often struggle to integrate these three levels, resulting in a fragmented and mechanical understanding of chemical concepts. One effective pedagogical approach to address this issue is the use of multiple representation-based instructional media, which enables the presentation of chemical concepts through various interconnected forms of visualization and symbolization. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of multiple representation-based learning media in enhancing students’ conceptual understanding in chemistry education. The research employed a systematic literature review (SLR) method by collecting and analyzing scientific articles from Google Scholar, SINTA, and ERIC databases using the keywords “multiple representation” and “chemistry learning.” Based on the screening process, 15 relevant articles published between 2018 and 2023 were selected for in-depth analysis. The selected studies were reviewed descriptively and comparatively, focusing on research outcomes, methodologies, and their contributions to improving the quality of chemistry learning. The review findings indicate that the use of multiple representation-based media—such as animations, augmented reality (AR), electronic modules, and interactive multimedia—has proven effective in improving conceptual understanding, critical thinking skills, creativity, and students’ learning motivation. Moreover, such media facilitate diverse learning styles and reduce misconceptions regarding chemical phenomena. In conclusion, multiple representation-based instructional media demonstrate high effectiveness in fostering deep and contextual understanding of chemistry concepts and hold great potential as an innovative learning strategy for 21st-century education.

Abstract

Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi sains melalui pembuatan dan pelatihan penggunaan Alat Praktikum Destilator Elektrik yang terintegrasi dengan Augmented Reality (AR) berbasis etnosains dan didukung oleh Artificial Intelligence (AI). Kegiatan pengabdian mencakup sesi pelatihan langsung, demonstrasi praktik destilasi, serta pendampingan siswa dalam menggunakan alat dan fitur AR untuk memahami proses secara visual dan interaktif. Evaluasi melalui pre-test dan post-test menunjukkan rata-rata pre-test 65,50 dan post-test 87,78, dengan N-Gain rata-rata 0,66, termasuk kategori sedang-tinggi, yang menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam literasi sains. Hasil ini menegaskan bahwa kegiatan pengabdian berbasis pelatihan dan penggunaan alat praktikum interaktif dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep sains secara efektif,sekaligus memberikan pengalaman belajar yang menyenangkan dan kontekstual.

Abstract

In this research, a lab work module daily life base has been successfully developed in the basic chemistry 1 lab work. This module was created to make practicum implementation easier in the chemistry laboratory due to limited tools and materials. This research aims to assess students' science process skills. The lab work module development process uses the ADDIE model research approach. After that, the validation tests carried out were media experts and material experts, each consisting of two experts, and average validation test scores for material and media experts were found to be 4.67 and 4.54, respectively. These results indicate that the module is suitable for use as a learning resource. The next step was to test its practicality and effectiveness using pretest and posttest instruments, students' score results, and questionnaires. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive statistical methods and the results obtained were that the module was suitable and practical for use as a learning resource with a practicality percentage of 89.47%. Furthermore, the student's learning completion results were 100% and the N-Gain value was 0.71, which proves that the module created is effective. In conclusion, the product that has been developed is successful in improving students' science process skills.

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuatan aplikasi berbasis Android yang terintegrasi dengan model pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri di SMAN 1 Manado merupakan upaya untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam memanfaatkan teknologi untuk mendukung pembelajaran abad ke 21. Pelatihan ini mencakup pengenalan teori pengembangan aplikasi Android, prinsip-prinsip pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri, serta strategi integrasi keduanya dalam pembelajaran. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa peserta, yaitu guru-guru di SMAN 1 Manado, mampu memahami teori dan merancang aplikasi sederhana yang relevan dengan kebutuhan pembelajaran. Integrasi antara teknologi Android dan model pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran, menciptakan pengalaman belajar yang interaktif, menarik, dan bermakna. Refleksi peserta mengungkapkan apresiasi terhadap pelatihan ini, yang dinilai memberikan wawasan baru serta keterampilan yang aplikatif. Dengan pendampingan berkelanjutan, pelatihan ini diharapkan menjadi langkah awal dalam mendorong inovasi pembelajaran berbasis teknologi di sekolah, sekaligus menjadi model bagi pengembangan pendidikan di era digital.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an Android-based application that uses an inquiry approach on solubility material and solubility products, and assesses its feasibility as an alternative source of independent learning for high school students. The approach used is the development research method, by choosing a development design using the ADDIE model. The result of this study is in the form of an Android-based application. The evaluation of the results of this development is based on the assessment of validators who show very good categories, with ideality reaching 86% according to the assessment of media experts, and 84.75% according to the assessment of material experts. Student responses to Android-based applications with an inquiry approach to solubility material and solubility results obtained a percentage of 93.22%. Based on the expert assessment and student responses, it can be concluded that the Android-based application that has been developed is worthy of being used as an independent learning resource for high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a digital textbook based on multiple representations on chemical bonding as a digital learning resource for 10th-grade high school students. Product development was conducted using the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model. Product validation involved media experts, material experts, and field trials with students using a Likert scale questionnaire instrument of 1–5. The assessment results showed that the digital textbook received a "Very Good" category from media experts (86.23%), material experts (85.20%), and student responses (94.35%). This digital textbook integrates three levels of chemical representation: macroscopic (real phenomena), microscopic (particle structures), and symbolic (chemical equations) through interactive features such as molecular animations, simulations, explanatory videos, and evaluation quizzes. The product meets the standards of the Independent Curriculum, has an intuitive user interface, and can be accessed across multiple devices. In conclusion, this digital textbook based on multiple representations is suitable for use as a digital learning resource for 10th-grade high school students on chemical bonding.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh pembelajaran praktikum kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing terhadap keterampilan menyimpulkan siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen semu dengan instrumen berupa tes untuk mengukur keterampilan menyimpulkan Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan analisis statistik Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang mengikuti praktikum dengan metode inkuiri terbimbing memiliki keterampilan menyimpulkan yang lebih tinggi dengan persentase nilai sebesar 81 9 dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti metode praktikum verifikasi yang memperoleh nilai sebesar 73 6 Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pembelajaran praktikum kimia berbasis inkuiri terbimbing lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan menyimpulkan siswa pada materi kelarutan dan hasil kali kelarutan < span>< div>

Abstract

Pelatihan pembuatan bakso ikan bagi mahasiswa sangat penting karena dapat memberikan keterampilan praktis, mendorong kewirausahaan, memanfaatkan sumber daya lokal, meningkatkan kesehatan dan gizi, serta mempersiapkan mahasiswa untuk dunia kerja. Dengan mendukung pelatihan ini, institusi pendidikan tidak hanya meningkatkan kualitas lulusannya tetapi juga berkontribusi pada pengembangan ekonomi lokal dan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Pelatihan ini bertujuan memberikan wawasan mendalam kepada mahasiswa mengenai inovasi dalam pengembangan produk kuliner dengan fokus pada pembuatan bakso krispi dan kuah pedas berbahan dasar ikan tuna. Pelatihan berlangsung selama satu hari pada tanggal 21 Februari 2024 di Jurusan Kimia yang diikuti oleh mahasiswa Jurusan Kimia Universitas Negeri Manado. Dengan pendekatan praktis, peserta dibimbing untuk memahami secara detail proses produksi bakso krispi dan kuah pedas, serta melibatkan kreativitas dalam pengembangan varian rasa yang menarik. Fokus utama pelatihan ini adalah memotivasi semangat wirausaha mahasiswa dengan memberikan pemahaman yang komprehensif tentang aspek produksi, pemasaran, dan potensi bisnis dari produk inovatif ini. Melalui kombinasi sesi teori dan praktik langsung, diharapkan peserta dapat mengasah keterampilan kulinernya sambil memahami strategi pemasaran yang efektif untuk memperkenalkan produk ini ke pasar.  Hasil dari pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat menciptakan mahasiswa yang tidak hanya memiliki keterampilan praktis dalam pembuatan bakso berbahan dasar ikan tuna, tetapi juga memupuk semangat kewirausahaan yang diperlukan untuk memasuki dunia bisnis kuliner. Kesuksesan produk ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dorongan bagi para peserta untuk mengembangkan ide-ide kreatif mereka sendiri dan meraih peluang di pasar kuliner yang terus berkembang.

Abstract

Chemistry learning requires the integration of macroscopic, submicroscopic, and symbolic representations. However, limited availability of practicum tools in senior high schools often hinders students’ comprehensive understanding of chemical concepts, particularly in electrolyte and nonelectrolyte solutions. This study aimed to develop and implement CHEMLIT, a sensor-based chemistry practicum tool designed to support learning on solution electrical conductivity. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, consisting of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. Needs analysis was conducted through classroom observations and teacher interviews, followed by prototype design, assembly, calibration, and functional testing to ensure stability and safety. The implementation involved two senior high schools in the Minahasa region, with chemistry teachers serving as reviewers and students as trial users. Feasibility was evaluated by media experts, material experts, teachers, and students using five-point Likert-scale questionnaires, and the data were analyzed by converting scores into percentage-based feasibility criteria. Product feasibility was evaluated through validation by media experts, subject matter experts, chemistry teachers, and students using questionnaire instruments. The validation results indicated a very high level of feasibility, with scores of 91.7% from media experts, 96% from material experts, 92% from teachers, and student responses exceeding 93.99%, categorized as very good. These findings indicate that CHEMLIT meets technical, visual, and content feasibility standards and can serve as an alternative practicum tool for teaching electrolyte and non-electrolyte solutions, especially in schools with limited laboratory facilities. Its novelty lies in a portable sensor-based design that integrates quantitative conductivity measurement into conventional testing without complex digital systems.
