Abstract

This study analyzed the impact of DGBL on the learning outcomes of PAI students in class X SMKN 2 Jember because most of PAI lessons mostly use the lecture method, so learning it needs an interesting innovation to improve student learning outcomes. Using the Quasi-Experiment One-Group Pretest—Post-test Design method with a sample of 35 DKV Class X students, data was collected through pretest and post-test with CP and TP-based instrument. Analysis was conducted using SPSS, including normality, reability, validity, ANOVA, and simple linear regression tests. The results showed a significant increase from the mean score of the pretest (62.8) to the posttest (83.3) and an increase in the percentage of students reaching the KKM from 11% to 91%. DGBL proved to have a significant effect on learning outcomes, with the regression model explaining 93,5% of the observed variation. This study demonstrates that DGBL is effective in improving the motivation and learning outcomes of PAI students, confirming the importance of technology-based learning innovations in religious education.

Abstract

The duty to maintain the authenticity of the Quran through verbal transmission is a collective obligation for every Muslim. However, several groups of Muslim scholars marginalize the role of women in the transmission of the Quran due to some fiqh rules. Various ethical-legal-formal rules governing women's association in the public space have limited women's access to the transmission process. This study explains the biographical evidence of women's marginalization, the causal factors restricting women's access to the transmission, and the implications and legal strategies women used to overcome these fiqh rules constraints. This is library research with a feminist approach and descriptive analysis. Data collection was carried out by observing literature through library research related to the role of women in the transmission of the Quran. This study showed women's marginalization due to an understanding of gender-biased Islamic doctrines regarding seclusion, prohibitions on traveling and mixing with men (ikhtilāṭ), and the doctrine of women's voices as awrah. Under these conditions, women develop some legal stratagems to break through these religious doctrines. This study recommends using the maqashid al-sharī'ah approach in resolving the problem of marginalization of women in the transmission of the Qur'an.Abstrak:Kewajiban menjaga otentisitas Al-Qur’an melalui transmisi verbal merupakan kewajiban kolektif bagi setiap Muslim, baik laki-laki maupun perempuan. Namun, peran perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur'an masih terpinggirkan karena adanya sejumlah pembatasan aturan fiqih yang yang membatasi akses perempuan dalam proses transmisi. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bentuk-bentuk marginalisasi perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an, faktor-faktor penyebab, serta strategi hukum yang digunakan perempuan untuk mengatasi kendala-kendala tersebut. Studi ini merupakan studi pustaka dengan pendekatan feminis. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan pengamatan literatur melalui library research terkait peran perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an. Studi ini menunjukkan bahwa marginalisasi juru baca perempuan mewujud bentuk eksklusi nama-nama juru baca perempuan dari koleksi biografis juru baca Al-Qur’an dan mata rantai sanad Al-Qur’an, serta larangan perempuan untuk membaca Al-Qur’an di ruang publik. Marginalisasi terjadi akibat adanya sejumlah aturan fiqih yang membatasi pergaulan perempuan di ruang publik, seperti perintah pemingitan, larangan bepergian dan bercampur dengan laki-laki asing, serta stigma suara perempuan aurat. Meski demikian, pembatasan-pembatasan tersebut menginspirasi juru baca perempuan untuk mengembangkan strategi hukum guna mengatasi halangan-halangan normatif tersebut. Studi ini merekomendasikan penggunaan pendekatan maqashid al-shari’ah dalam menyelesaikan problem marginalisasi perempuan dalam transmisi Al-Qur’an.

Abstract

This research examines the interpretation of religious pluralism in the debate between the Liberal Islam Network (JIL) and the Institute for The Study of Islamic Thought and Civilization (INSISTS). The results indicate that JIL constructs its arguments in favor of religious pluralism based on four Quranic arguments, while INSISTS opposes religious pluralism with two Quranic arguments. JIL employs the Ushul Fiqh approach in interpreting pluralism verses, whereas INSISTS uses a contextual approach—both textual and historical. However, the inclusive view of JIL and the exclusive view of INSISTS each have their own implications. Penelitian ini membahas penafsiran pluralisme agama dalam perdebatan antara Jaringan Islam Liberal (JIL) dan Institute for The Study of Islamic Thought and Civilization (INSISTS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa JIL membangun argumen mereka untuk mendukung pluralisme agama berdasarkan empat argumen quranik, sementara INSISTS menolak pluralisme agama dengan dua argumen quranik. JIL menggunakan pendekatan Ushul Fiqh dalam menafsirkan ayat-ayat pluralisme, sedangkan INSISTS menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual—baik konteks teks maupun historis. Namun, pandangan inklusif JIL dan eksklusif INSISTS memiliki implikasi masing-masing.

Abstract

This research aims to identify strengths and weaknesses, as well as opportunities and threats in PAI learning at SMP 11 Ma'arif Bangsalsari Jember. Thus, the school can find appropriate and measurable steps to make decisions. In this study, a qualitative research approach was used with the SWOT matrix analysis method. The data used were taken from respondents who had filled out a questionnaire prepared by the researcher. The data were then grouped based on SWOT aspects and analyzed using the SWOT matrix approach. The results of this study show that in the internal aspect, the independent curriculum gives freedom to PAI teachers to develop a learning process that can be adapted to the needs of students. However, the weakness found is the limited resources and facilities in the institution that greatly affect the learning process. In the external aspect, PAI learning has a wider opportunity to develop Islamic religious values according to individual abilities. However, the threat is that differences in interpretation between teachers can cause conflicts that lead to disunity, which can reduce the intensity and quality of PAI learning. Based on these internal and external aspects, there are several steps that PAI teachers should take. First, teachers need to innovate in PAI learning optimally. Second, teachers need to expand relationships with the community and clerics to improve social competence. Third, PAI teachers must have enthusiasm and continue to improve professionalism in carrying out academic duties. Fourth, teachers need to increase support from the education office and school leadership in facilitating PAI learning activities. Fifth, PAI teachers need to improve their ability and cohesiveness in understanding the implementation of the independent curriculum. Sixth, teachers need to improve quality in the realm of professionalism and understanding of the concept of religious moderation. Seventh, teachers need to be equipped with skills in developing interesting and effective PAI learning for students. Eighth, teachers need to communicate with school leaders and the education office to provide and prepare supporting facilities in PAI learning.

Abstract

Asghar Ali Engineer (1939-2013) was a theologian and feminist from India. Born into an elite religious environment, he then experienced dirty exploitation in the name of religion which made him study the nature of religious law. He collaborated between Islamic literature and Western literature to discover the essence of Sharia. This article will discuss his popular thoughts on liberation theology and gender and Asghar Ali's efforts in reinterpreting the Koran. The research method used in this study is qualitative research, a type of library research. The research data source uses books written by Asghar Ali and several studies that are relevant to the research focus. Based on the research results, in interpreting the Qur'an Asghar Ali used three methods. One way is to differentiate the normative and contextual aspects of a verse to understand the historical aspects when the Qur'an. Another side discussed by Asghar Ali is gender, for him, gender equality and gender justice are closely related. The realization of justice and gender equality is realized by the absence of discrimination between men and women, as well as the opportunity to participate in all aspects of life. This cannot be separated from the situation in India where he lives, where there is inequality and injustice between men and women. The research results concluded that it is necessary to reinterpret the interpretation of the Qur'an so that the theological views regarding the Qur'an Salihun Li Kulli Zaman Wa Makan can still be applied in life while still prioritizing human values.

Abstract

This study examines how Islamic elites in Jember Regency perceive Muslim Liyan (other Muslims) and how these perceptions influence the development of religious moderation within Islamic education. Using a qualitative phenomenological design, the research explores the subjective meanings underlying intra-Islamic differences through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and document analysis involving kiai, organizational leaders, and influential preachers. Findings reveal three main typologies of perception: (1) mainstream orthodoxy that prioritizes doctrinal purity, (2) conditional tolerance that accepts diversity within certain boundaries, and (3) rigid exclusivism that rejects the legitimacy of differing groups. These perceptions are shaped by religious educational backgrounds, institutional interests, historical conflicts, and media-driven identity narratives. The study shows that inclusive elite perspectives support the cultivation of religious moderation in Islamic educational institutions, whereas exclusive views tend to foster polarizing attitudes among learners. This research contributes to the discourse on intra-religious exclusivism and offers practical implications for strengthening moderation-oriented curricula, teacher training, and dialogical learning environments within Islamic education. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana elit Islam di Kabupaten Jember memandang Muslim Liyan (Muslim lainnya) serta bagaimana konstruksi pandangan tersebut memengaruhi pengembangan moderasi beragama dalam pendidikan Islam. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif berdesain fenomenologis, penelitian menggali makna subjektif perbedaan intraumat Islam melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, dan analisis dokumen terhadap kiai, pimpinan organisasi keagamaan, dan da’i berpengaruh. Temuan menunjukkan tiga tipologi utama persepsi: (1) ortodoksi arus utama yang menekankan kemurnian ajaran, (2) toleransi bersyarat yang menerima keberagaman dalam batas tertentu, dan (3) eksklusivisme keras yang menolak legitimasi kelompok berbeda. Pola tersebut dibentuk oleh latar pendidikan keagamaan, kepentingan institusional, sejarah konflik, dan pengaruh media. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa sikap elit yang inklusif dapat memperkuat moderasi beragama di lembaga pendidikan Islam, sedangkan pandangan eksklusif berpotensi menumbuhkan sikap polarisatif pada peserta didik. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi bagi kajian eksklusivisme intraagama serta implikasi praktis bagi penguatan kurikulum moderasi, pelatihan guru, dan pembelajaran dialogis dalam pendidikan Islam.

Abstract

Penelitian Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pembelajaran sejarah Islam dalam membentuk cara berpikir kritis siswa Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) di tengah pengaruh budaya Barat yang semakin kuat. Di era globalisasi, siswa tidak hanya dituntut memahami fakta sejarah, tetapi juga mampu menilai dan menyaring nilai-nilai asing berdasarkan prinsip keislaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara pengetahuan sejarah Islam dengan sikap kritis siswa terhadap budaya Barat di MI Al Amin Garahan Jember. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif korelasional, dengan jumlah responden 60 siswa kelas V dan VI yang dipilih secara proportionate stratified random sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui angket berskala Likert dan dianalisis menggunakan uji korelasi Product Moment Pearson. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai r = 0,86, lebih besar dari r_tabel = 0,254, yang berarti terdapat hubungan positif dan signifikan antara kedua variabel. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi pengetahuan siswa tentang sejarah Islam, semakin tinggi pula kemampuan mereka berpikir kritis terhadap pengaruh budaya Barat. Dengan demikian, pembelajaran sejarah Islam memiliki peran strategis dalam menumbuhkan kesadaran identitas, karakter selektif, dan kemampuan berpikir reflektif siswa MI di era globalisasi budaya.

Abstract

This religious character building should ideally begin at an early age, because elementary school is a crucial environment where the foundations of a child's character begin to form. Religious education in elementary school plays a strategic role in strengthening religious character. The contextual learning approach has emerged as a solution, seeking to connect the subject matter with the real lives of students. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Three main techniques are used: in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation study. Data analysis is conducted using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and conclusions. Meanwhile, data validity techniques include extended observation and triangulation. The results of the study show that the religious education program at SDS Islam Ulul Albab Jember is planned collaboratively with appropriate documents and targets. The program is implemented from morning to noon based on the principles of exemplary behavior and habit formation. Meanwhile, the evaluation process is carried out through tasmi' exams from external parties and monitoring by parents using a book of religious practices. The strengthening of the religious character of students includes a character that not only understands religion in terms of rituals but also its knowledge so that they become closer to Allah. Religious character is strengthened with a variety of contextual strategies through tadarus keliling learning and methods of reprimand and teacher role modeling. Both strategies are part of the Context Teaching and Learning approach, which can have a direct impact on increasing awareness of religion and culture, reminding each other.

Abstract

The increasing trend of hijra has given rise to the phenomenon of religious exclusivism among the Hijra Community members in Indonesia. This trend of religious exclusivism raises concerns about the development of radical Islam and intolerance towards Muslim others. This research aimed to explore intra-religious exclusivism of the Hijra Community members, i.e., Majelis Gaul, Sahabat Al-Qur’an, Al-Fath Pemuda Hijrah, and Komunitas Hijrah Jember (KHJ). This research also analyzed the factors that influence exclusivism and their implications for relations with Muslims others. This research collected data through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed using three steps: data reduction, data display, and inference. The findings of this research showed that the exclusivism of members of the hijra community varied from open and closed to extreme exclusivism. Furthermore, the factors that influenced exclusivism were the high religious spirit after hijra, religious understanding that introduced only a single truth, family background, religious organizations, and the influence of religious figures to whom they referred. We found that religious exclusivism implied three models of othering practices toward Muslim others: isolationism, persistence in the community with their views, and persistence in their community but tolerating differences in understanding
