Abstract

Environmental Physics concepts are very likely to be explored to facilitate the cultivation of spiritual attitudes because they are closely related to phenomena in everyday life. Visual media can help visualize environmental phenomena so that they are easier to understand. This study aims to instill spiritual values through the concept of Environmental Physics as an alternative learning that focuses on the affective domain with the help of visual media. This study involved 15 science education postgraduate students. This research used a Pre-experimental design with a Shoot Case Study. The research design includes pre-experiment, experiment, and analysis of experimental data results. In the pre-experiment stage, the concept of environmental physics and spiritual attitudes were analyzed, learning tools were prepared, and questionnaire instruments for student perceptions related to the cultivation of spiritual values were prepared. At the experimental stage, the implementation of Environmental Physics learning integrated with spiritual values was carried out. In the post-experiment stage, data analysis and interpretation were carried out to answer research problems. Based on the results of data analysis, it is known that 92.15% of respondents strongly agree that learning environmental physics can instill awareness of the nature of God. Based on the results of the open-ended questionnaire, it is known that students can explain the content of spiritual values in various phenomena in the environment. In addition, students stated that visual media can facilitate the activity of instilling awareness that God is omnipotent over all the universe. Thus it can be concluded that environmental physics learning activities can instil spiritual attitudes through environmental physics content assisted by visual media. Science content, especially environmental physics, is very relevant in instilling spiritual values

Abstract

Background: Science teaching at the junior high school (SMP) level still struggles to connect scientific concepts with students' everyday experiences. The absence of local wisdom integration contributes to low motivation and poor understanding of scientific material. One underutilized local potential is the traditional drying process of octopus practiced by coastal communities in Kaur Regency, Bengkulu.Aims: This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of a science learning module based on the local wisdom of dried octopus, focusing on the concepts of temperature, heat, and expansion for seventh-grade students.Method: Using a Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, the study involves five stages: analysis of student and teacher needs, module design, expert-validated development, implementation through a readability test involving 21 seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 24 Kaur, and final evaluation. Results: The results of the expert validation showed a module feasibility level of 95% with the category "very feasible," while the student readability test obtained an average score of 97% with the category "very easy to understand." The developed module also received positive responses from students regarding engagement, content clarity, language, and usefulness. Conclusion: The science module based on the local wisdom of octopus drying is considered highly feasible and practical for teaching temperature, heat, and expansion. Integrating local wisdom into science learning has been proven to improve students’ cognitive learning outcomes and foster awareness of local cultural values.

Abstract

Estuary waters are important habitats as spawning and nursery areas for various species of fish so it is necessary to monitor the fish resources in them. The purpose of this study is to analyze the target strength values of various estuary fish species from the Jenggalu River estuary through controlled measurements and formulate the relationship of target strength to total fish length. The controlled acoustic method uses a Simrad EK-15 echosounder with a frequency of 200 kHz. Measurements were taken in the pond using the tethered method, where the dead test fish was hung horizontally on the frame and then the acoustic signal was emitted vertically from above. The samples used were 13 species of fish with a total of 62 fish. The results obtained the average value of target strength has a range of values ranging from -68.86 to -54.80 dB. The relationship between the target strength value and the total length of the fish shows a very strong relationship with the correlation coefficient (r) value ranging from 0.86 – 0.96 and the coefficient of determination shows more than 74% of the TS value is influenced by the size of the fish length. The resulting equation model of the relationship between TS and total length size showed that TS values on the dorsal aspect increased in proportion to the square of fish length.
