Abstract

The purpose of the research is to analyze the contribution of health communication toward public awareness and behavioral change in stunting prevention in Laweyan Sub-District. The focus of the research will be oriented toward the change in knowledge, attitude, and practice on balanced nutrition, accounting consumption of junk food. The study applied a qualitative case study design that included respondents who were health officers, posyandu cadres, community leaders, and households of beneficiaries. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations, and documentation. Thematic analysis was used for data analysis. The results showed that health communication strategies in Laweyan used face-to-face counseling, digital media, and innovatively, Secating and Dasyat as the programs that increase the community understanding of balanced nutrition. However, effectiveness was reduced by low awareness of nutrition (about 45% of respondents did not consider themselves to have heard of balanced nutrition), lack of time by community members to attend counseling events, and lack of communication facilities at the sub-district level. Thus, more participatory communication strategies are required that involve local opinion leaders and strengthen community-based communication media for health messages that are easier to accept and apply to their daily lives.

Abstract

Salah satu konsep desa wisata berbasis wisata alam, pendidikan, dan sejarah adalah desa wisata berbasis eco eduturisme. Perwujudan desa wisata kiringan eco-edutourism merupakan solusi untuk mewujudkan desa mandiri dan dapat memaksimalkan potensi sumber daya alam yang dimiliki dengan memberikan dampak edukasi bagi pengunjung. Konsep eco eduturisme dirasa sesuai dengan kondisi eksisting sebagai potensi yang akan dioptimalkan menjadi satu konsep desa wisata yang terintegrasi. Untuk mencapai kondisi ideal eco eduturisme, pengusul akan menawarkan beberapa solusi berdasarkan permasalahan prioritas yakni pengembangan Manajemen Desa Wisata melalui fokus pengabdian pada bidang manajemen dan pemasaran. Pendekatan manajemen fokus pada tata kelola dan rencana pengembangan desa wisata melalui roadmap desa wisata dan sistem informasi yang menunjang menajerial desa wisata. Upaya peningkatan partisipasi warga dilakukan melalui aktivitas pelatihan-pelatihan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pengelolaan desa wisata. Bidang pemasaran berusaha untuk meningkatkan aspek promosi wisata melalui digitalisasi konten dan video profil desa wisata untuk bahan promosi di sosial media desa wisata kiringan.

Abstract

Purpose −  Social inequality refers to conditions of inequality of access, opportunity and utilization of resources between community groups. This phenomenon can be seen in differences in income, quality of education, infrastructure development, and legal treatment. That issue is also a structural issue in India, a country that still faces sharp inequalities between social classes, rural and urban areas, and powerful groups and marginalized communities. Film media has a strategic role as a means of representing social reality, because it is able to convey critical messages visually and narratively. The Indian biographical film “12th Fail” by Vidhu Vinod Chopra has become an object of study because it tells the story of the struggle of the character Manoj from a poor family in facing an unequal social system. Method − Descriptive qualitative research methods are applied through Roland Barthes' semiotics approach, including denotation, connotation and myth analysis. Primary data are sourced from scenes and film dialogue, while secondary data are from relevant scientific literature. Findings − The results showed four main forms of social inequality, including inequalities in quality and educational facilities, socioeconomic status inequalities, rural and municipal infrastructure inequalities and legal justice inequalities. The representation shows how social systems tend to favour the powerful and limit the social mobility of the poor.

Abstract

Smart farming is an ambitious concept to strengthen food security and eradicate hunger at the national and global levels. Technological innovation offers agricultural efficiency, increases crop productivity, and attracts the interest of a new generation of young farmers. Technology is not a panacea to overcome the decline of Indonesia's agricultural sector. Smart farming requires cross- stakeholder collaboration to achieve government goals. Media, with its reporting, is a key collaborator in smart farming policies. This qualitative content analysis study aims to explain how online media reports on smart farming. Similar to smart cities, smart farming can be a solution or just a false label. Research findings indicate a lack of mainstream online media coverage and the importance of cross- media stakeholder collaboration. The government still plays the most significant role with a Java- centric approach to manage media reporting of smart farming ecosystem. Issues of productivity, food security, and aging farmers are the goals of smart farming.

Abstract

Abstract This study is motivated by the widespread use of TikTok as a platform for impression management by content creators, including those in the field of education. One figure who has drawn attention is Mbah Melan (@binaprestasisiswa), known as Mbah Guru Matematika, who presents a simple and authentic image amid the dominance of luxurious content styles. The research problem focuses on how Mbah Melan’s impression management strategies are constructed on TikTok and how they align with his real-life persona. The purpose of this study is to analyze Mbah Melan’s impression management strategies using Erving Goffman’s dramaturgical theory, particularly by comparing self-presentation on the front stage (TikTok social media) and the back stage (everyday life). This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews and observations of Mbah Melan’s TikTok content, as well as observations of his daily activities and interactions. The results indicate a strong consistency between Mbah Melan’s front stage and back stage. The image presented on TikTok—friendly, humble, and simple—is aligned with his real-life personality. This consistency demonstrates that authentic and modest impression management strategies are effective in building audience trust and engagement. The study concludes that authenticity and simplicity are important strengths in developing effective self-presentation on digital platforms such as TikTok. Keywords: Impression management; erving goffman; content creation; social media online persona.   Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh maraknya penggunaan TikTok sebagai media pembentukan citra diri (impression management) oleh content creator, termasuk di bidang edukasi. Salah satu figur yang menarik perhatian adalah Mbah Melan (@binaprestasisiswa), yang dikenal sebagai Mbah Guru Matematika, dengan citra sederhana dan autentik di tengah dominasi konten bergaya mewah. Permasalahan penelitian ini berfokus pada bagaimana strategi impression management Mbah Melan dibangun di TikTok serta kesesuaiannya dengan kehidupan nyata. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis strategi impression management Mbah Melan dengan menggunakan teori dramaturgi Erving Goffman, khususnya dalam membandingkan representasi diri pada front stage (media sosial TikTok) dan back stage (kehidupan sehari-hari). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Teknik pengumpulan data meliputi wawancara mendalam dan observasi terhadap konten TikTok Mbah Melan, serta pengamatan terhadap aktivitas dan interaksi dalam kehidupan sehari-harinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat konsistensi yang kuat antara front stage dan back stage Mbah Melan. Citra yang ditampilkan di TikTok ramah, rendah hati, dan sederhana selaras dengan kepribadiannya di dunia nyata. Konsistensi ini membuktikan bahwa strategi impression management yang autentik dan sederhana mampu membangun kepercayaan serta keterlibatan audiens. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa keaslian dan kesederhanaan merupakan kekuatan penting dalam membangun citra diri yang efektif di platform digital seperti TikTok. Abstract

The otome game phenomenon, Love and Deepspace, has evolved into a space for both emotional and financial investment among players. This study analyzes how players form and maintain parasocial interactions (PSI) and parasocial relationships (PSR) with game characters, which are subsequently reinforced through the gacha system. Utilizing a qualitative method with an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) approach, four players were interviewed. The findings reveal that immersive features and daily routines effectively cultivate emotional attraction. This intimacy is then commodified through the gacha system to unlock further romantic narratives. Furthermore, the study identifies real-world relationship status as a key differentiator: single players often utilize these interactions as a primary coping mechanism, whereas players with real-life partners maintain distinct boundaries. This study concludes that parasocial relationships in modern gaming have transitioned into transactional activities that exploit emotional needs via the gacha mechanism.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how the Instagram account @tbc.komunitas, managed by PR Konsorsium Komunitas Penabulu-STPI, implements communication strategies in conducting health education and promotion, particularly regarding Tuberculosis, through the Circular Model of SOME Theory approach. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with data collection techniques consisting of interviews with the communication team of PR Konsorsium Komunitas Penabulu-STPI and direct observation of the Instagram account @tbc.komunitas. The result show that the account utilizes social media as a medium for health education and promotion while applying communication strategies aligned with the stages of the Circular Model of SOME Theory. The share stage focuses on building identity and audience trust; optimize emphasizes content relevance to audience needs; manage involves interaction management and periodic evaluation; and engage is carried out through collaborations with the Ministry of Health and other health organizations. These strategies reflect the team’s efforts to establish adaptive and interactive communication in delivering health education, although the implementation has not yet been fully optimized.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the communication strategy used by the Mentari Sehat Indonesia Foundation (MSI) in Klaten Regency in its Tuberculosis (TB) elimination program. The background of this study is the high number of TB cases in Klaten Regency, thus emphasizing the importance of communication in disseminating health information, especially regarding Tuberculosis, to the public. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method using Everett M. Rogers' innovation diffusion theory. Data collection techniques include in-depth interviews and observations of cadres and counseling participants. The results of this study indicate that the main innovation used is counseling as a means of conveying information about TB. It has a relative advantage because it can provide knowledge and increase public awareness of TB. The communication channels used are interpersonal communication (face to face) and Instagram social media as a supporting medium. Obstacles experienced include the negative stigma in the community regarding TB. The role of agent of change and opinion leaders greatly influences the acceptance of innovations in the community. Based on the four elements of innovation diffusion consisting of innovation, communication channels, timeframe, and social systems, the communication strategy at the Mentari Sehat Indonesia Foundation (MSI) in Klaten Regency is considered effective in providing knowledge, forming positive attitudes and increasing public awareness of TB.
