Abstract

The marketing training for cassia shrimp products held in Arar Village, Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua aims to improve community skills in overcoming obstacles to marketing local products. This activity is carried out through three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. In the initial stage, the team coordinated with village officials to understand local conditions and the economic potential of the community. The implementation stage focused on digital marketing training and product packaging techniques, followed by pretests and posttests to measure skill improvements. The results of the training showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of online marketing strategies, the importance of information on packaging, and factors that can attract consumer interest and loyalty, such as attractive packaging design and product taste quality. Before the training, the majority of participants still used traditional marketing methods, but after the training, 89.47% of participants switched to digital marketing. This training succeeded in providing an understanding of broader and more modern marketing strategies, so that the community is better prepared to compete in a larger market. The impact is seen in the increase in sales, income, and sustainable economic potential in Arar Village

Abstract

This community service iitiative aims to develop an eco-friedly product utilizing local natural resources, specifically Avicenna marina mangrove leaves as raw material for candle production. The innovattion is driven by the ecological and economic potential of mangrove plants, which have not yet been optimally utilized, alongside the need for alternative income sources for coastal communities. The implementation method includes literature review, processing mangrove leaves through boiling and mixing with basic candle materials, production training for coastal residents and mentoring of small-scale environmentally based enterprises. The results of the activity indicate that the candles produced have stable flame performance, a natural aroma and aesthetically appealing qualities suitable for commercial sale. This program serves as an inital step in developing a creative economy model based on mangrove ecosystes, which can be replicated in other coastal regions. Through a collaborative and sustainable approach, this initiative demonstrates that environmental conservation and social empowerment can go hand in hand.

Abstract

This study was conducted on the island of Arborek using data determination techniques with observations and questionnaires shared with respondents. The data obtained was then analyzed using SWOT analysis to obtain a plastic waste management strategy. The results of the study showed that the management of plastic waste on the island of Arborek was carried out by the Non-Governmental Organization "Barefoot conservation" involving local people, especially teenagers aged 7-16 years. The management carried out is the collection, sorting, and transportation of waste. then from the results of the questionnaire showed that the response of respondents to the average waste facility assessment score was 3 or a fairly good category. while the response of respondents The average rating score of 4 or categories is not good. The management strategy obtained from the results of the SWOT analysis is to use the WO strategy, which is a progressive strategy that uses the power to seize opportunities or take advantage of opportunities. The strategy is to reduce plastic waste as much as possible starting from the source with the application of 3R methods (reduse, reuse, recycle), and increase the active role of government, community, as well as other parties (private) as managing partners.

Abstract

The development of rural areas remains a key focus within national policy efforts to enhance community welfare by leveraging local resources. Arar Village, located in Mayamuk District, Sorong Regency, Southwest Papua, possesses abundant marine resources, particularly rebon shrimp, that have yet to be fully harnessed. This community engagement initiative was designed to stimulate the village economy by providing hands-on training in producing rebon shrimp chili sauce. The program involved several stages: initial preparation, community outreach, skills training, and ongoing production support. Throughout the process, participants—primarily women and local youth—demonstrated remarkable enthusiasm and quickly adapted to the techniques required to create hygienic and attractively packaged products. The resulting chili sauce has the potential to serve as a signature culinary product for Arar Village and may pave the way for new entrepreneurial ventures. Beyond technical skills, the program fostered increased household income and reinforced the village’s unique economic identity, all rooted in the sustainable use of local potential.

Abstract

Plastic pollution has become pervasive in aquatic environments, emerging as a significant ecological concern over the past decade. Plastic debris varies in size, from large fragments to microplastics—particles less than 5 mm in diameter—that result from the primary (manufacturing production) and secondary (degradation from larger plastics) sources. In aquaculture systems, these microplastics can accumulate in both the environment and within aquatic organisms, as their decomposition is a prolonged process. The persistence of microplastics poses risks to biota, including potential physical harm and chemical exposure. This review discusses current research on the presence and impact of microplastics in aquaculture, highlighting the negative effects observed. The findings indicate that microplastics represent an escalating threat to aquaculture systems, necessitating periodic monitoring and the standardisation of analytical methods to manage and mitigate their impact effectively.
