Abstract

Hypereosinophilic syndromes (HES) are rare disorders defined by persistent eosinophilia and eosinophil-driven organ damage. Interleukin-5 (IL-5) is the central cytokine governing eosinophil maturation and survival, establishing its pathway as a critical therapeutic target. While individual trials of biologics targeting the IL-5 pathway—mepolizumab, reslizumab, and benralizumab—have shown promise, a quantitative synthesis of their class-wide efficacy and safety in HES is needed. This study aimed to meta-analyze the evidence for these agents in managing HES. Following PRISMA guidelines, we systematically searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library through December 2024 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and prospective observational studies of IL-5 pathway biologics in patients with HES. Primary outcomes were the proportion of patients achieving hematologic response and the annualized rate of clinical exacerbations. Key secondary outcomes included oral corticosteroid (OCS) dose reduction and adverse events (AEs). Data were pooled using a random-effects model, with extensive, pre-planned subgroup and sensitivity analyses to explore heterogeneity. Seven studies (3 RCTs, 4 observational) involving 388 patients were included. Patients receiving IL-5 pathway biologics had significantly higher odds of achieving hematologic response (Odds Ratio [OR] 9.85; 95% Confidence Interval [CI] 5.12-18.96; p<0.0001), a finding robust to sensitivity analyses of different response definitions. The annualized exacerbation rate was reduced by 64% (Rate Ratio 0.36; 95% CI 0.25-0.52; p<0.0001). The intervention led to a mean daily OCS reduction of 12.5 mg (95% CI -15.8 to -9.2 mg; p<0.0001). Subgroup analysis revealed this effect was more pronounced in observational studies than in RCTs. The overall risk of AEs was not significantly increased. This meta-analysis provides robust evidence that biologics targeting the IL-5 pathway are highly effective and generally safe for managing PDGFRA-negative HES. They induce high rates of hematologic remission, substantially reduce clinical exacerbations, and facilitate a significant corticosteroid-sparing effect. These findings strongly support their role as a foundational component of modern HES therapy, though long-term safety and efficacy within distinct HES subtypes warrant further investigation.

Abstract

This study aims to introduce English and empower non-English teachers at SD Negeri Pantai Tinjau, a rural school without formal English lessons. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the program was implemented over three days with participatory and applicative methods. Activities included basic English introduction for grades 1–3 through nursery rhymes, a creative workshop for grades 4–6 to produce Classroom Expression Posters, and teacher training on using Vocabulary Wall and Classroom Expression Posters. The findings showed that students were enthusiastic and more willing to use simple English expressions, while teachers reported increased confidence in integrating English vocabulary into their lessons. The results indicate that simple, low-cost, and participatory media can effectively foster English exposure in rural schools and support teacher readiness, making it a viable model for replication in similar contexts.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality of public services in relation to community satisfaction in the issuance of inheritance certificates at Benteng Urban Village. The main focus of this research is to identify service quality based on the five SERVQUAL dimensions developed by Parasuraman, Zeithaml, and Berry (reliability, responsiveness, tangibles, empathy, and assurance), as well as to identify the factors influencing community satisfaction, namely planning, leadership, coordination, and supervision. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including interviews, observations, and documentation involving seven informants who have previously processed inheritance certificates at Benteng Urban Village. The results show that the dimensions of reliability and responsiveness were the most frequently criticized by the public due to unclear procedures and a lack of promptness from service staff in providing information. Meanwhile, the aspects of tangibles, assurance, and empathy showed relatively good results. In terms of public satisfaction, it was found that insufficient planning and weak leadership among staff contributed to slow and inefficient service delivery. The conclusion of this study highlights the importance of improving overall service quality, particularly in the areas of communication, staff training, and responsive leadership, in order to enhance public satisfaction

Abstract

Digitalization has significantly transformed the patterns of social interaction and cultural values of Generation Z (Gen Z) in Banten Province. This study aims to analyze the frequency of social media use among adolescents, its influence on local cultural values, and the changes in real-world social interaction patterns. Using a qualitative approach through structured interviews and field observations, primary data were collected from various sources, including students, youth community leaders, and local adolescents in Banten, particularly in Pandeglang Regency and Kasemen District. The findings reveal that although digital technology provides remarkable convenience in communication, learning, and organizational management, it also presents significant challenges. These challenges include shifts in social ethics influenced by the culture of Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), social alienation in real life, and reduced participation in regional traditions. However, the study also identifies a balanced adaptation pattern, where Gen Z is aware of the negative impacts of digital devices while remaining optimistic about utilizing digital platforms for educational purposes and the promotion of local culture. This research concludes that strengthening digital literacy grounded in local wisdom is essential to preserve identity and maintain noble cultural values in the modern era.
