Abstract

This research delves into the intricate connection that exists between the human condition and the reflection of nature. Through a nearby investigation of the text, this examination intends to reveal how Hawthorne complicatedly winds around together components of imagery and story to depict hidden presences - a figurative investigation of the intricacies of human life and its collaboration with the regular world. The narrative delves into the depths of individual consciousness while simultaneously reflecting the sublime beauty and mystery of nature, drawing on themes of isolation, morality, and societal norms. This study sheds light on the larger cultural and philosophical implications of the narrative by contrasting Hawthorne's portrayal with Wordsworth's philosophical perspectives on human existence and nature."

Abstract

This study applies a qualitative research method with an intersectionality approach to analyze Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which explores issues related to race, gender, and class in the context of post-civil war America. The main focus of this research is how racial, gender, and class identities interact with each other in shaping the experiences of the characters, specifically Huck, a white boy from the lower class, and Jim, an escaped African-American slave. Through the analysis of their cross-racial relationship, this study highlights the complex power dynamics, where Jim is trapped in a racial and class hierarchy, while Huck struggles against social pressure from female authority figures representing patriarchy. The findings of this study suggest that character identities are shaped by the intersection of multiple factors, providing a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in maintaining or resisting oppressive systems of power. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, a classic novel by Mark Twain, is a clear example of how literary works that criticize racial injustice can be misinterpreted and censored. Twain presents a scathing satire of American society, exposing its hypocrisy and failure to realize the promised values of equality. As such, the deep meanings contained within are buried under layers of superficial and biased interpretations.

Abstract

Abstract This research explains the forms and structures in the novel 1984 by George Orwell. The novel presents a dystopian tale set against the backdrop of a totalitarian regime, where the Communist Party, led by Big Brother, exercises strict control over every aspect of society. The story centers on Winston Smith, a low-ranking Party member who works at the Ministry of Truth, where he is tasked with altering historical records to support the Party's narrative. Feeling oppressed by pervasive surveillance and relentless propaganda, Winston secretly rebels by seeking truth and individual freedom. In his quest, he forms a forbidden relationship with Julia, a fellow Party member, and together they savor moments of intimacy and resistance. However, their rebellion is ultimately crushed by the Party's machinery of control. Winston is captured, tortured, and reprogrammed to fully align with the Party's ideology. The novel explores themes of power, identity, and the malleability of truth while highlighting the dangers of surveillance, language manipulation, and the loss of personal autonomy. Through its grim portrayal of a world devoid of individuality and freedom, 1984 serves as a profound warning against totalitarianism and the consequences of unchecked power. Abstract

Abstract This study discusses the use of irony in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm as a tool for social and political criticism of totalitarianism. In this work, irony appears in various forms, including verbal, situational, and dramatic irony, reflecting the betrayal of revolutionary ideals and the corruption of power. Orwell uses irony to expose the injustice and manipulation carried out by the ruling elite, while also demonstrating how the equality promised at the start of the revolution turns into even harsher oppression. Through in-depth analysis, this study highlights the function of irony as a means of delivering criticism of authoritarian political systems. The findings show that irony in Animal Farm not only creates layers of complex meaning, but also serves as a mirror of the social and political realities of society. Thus, this study affirms the relevance of irony as an effective literary tool in critiquing oppressive forms of power and showing their impact on the social order. Additionally, the irony in Animal Farm helps readers understand how propaganda is used to strengthen absolute power.
