Abstract

One of the main challenges in agricultural practices is the heavy reliance on chemical fertilizers without being balanced by the use of organic fertilizers. This study aims to analyze the maturity, quality, and quantity of compost produced from a mixture of cow dung, garden waste, and market waste using the Takakura Layered Method with EM4 and Local Microorganisms (LMOs) as activators. The LMOs used included LMO A (tuna fish waste, sugarcane bagasse, and pineapple peel) and LMO B (tuna fish waste, banana peel, and vegetable scraps). Composting was conducted in duplicate with seven treatment variations: (A) cow dung with EM4, (B) cow dung with LMO A, (C) cow dung with LMO B, (D) cow dung mixed with garden waste and LMO A, (E) cow dung mixed with garden waste and LMO B, (F) cow dung mixed with garden and market waste with LMO A, and (G) cow dung mixed with garden and market waste with LMO B. The results showed that all treatments met the composting standards. All variations complied with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI 19-7030-2004) in both maturity parameters (pH, temperature, color, texture, odor, and composting duration) and quality parameters (moisture content, C-organic, nitrogen, C/N ratio, phosphorus, and potassium). The compost quantity was reduced by 27–58%. The best result was observed in variation (D1), which consisted of cow dung, garden waste, and LMO A, achieving a score of 39 with a composting time of only 6 days.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of implementing Green Education in elementary schools as an effort to foster environmental awareness from an early age. One form of implementation is through the use of household waste as a learning medium that supports the teaching and learning process, while increasing students' awareness in maintaining environmental sustainability. This study aims to describe the use of household waste as a learning medium based on Green Education for fifth-grade students at SDN Lengkong Wetan 1, South Tangerang City. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation involving teachers and fifth-grade students. The research procedure was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that household waste, both organic and inorganic, has been effectively utilized as a learning medium. Various types of waste such as plastic bottles, cardboard, straws, and eggshells are processed into media and works that support learning activities. The use of these media can increase activeness, creativity, interest in learning, and environmental awareness. Although there are still obstacles in waste management and limited time for implementation, the use of household waste as a learning medium based on Green Education has been implemented well and has made a positive contribution in forming an environmentally conscious character in students. The findings of this study indicate that household waste can be a learning medium that supports Green Education and forms an environmentally conscious character.

Abstract

Effective and transparent village administrative governance is a cornerstone of achieving good village governance. However, limited understanding and skills among village officials often serve as major obstacles to accountable administrative management. This community service initiative aims to enhance the capacity and capabilities of officials in Popisi Village, Peling Tengah District, Banggai Kepulauan Regency, through a program involving outreach and guidance on village administrative governance. The implementation method involved direct mentoring provided to the Popisi Village government. The process comprised several stages: initial observation, coordination with the village government, and the mentoring sessions themselves, which were held at the Popisi Village office and attended by village government representatives. The desired outcome of this activity was to improve the village government's knowledge and ability to implement the Peling Tengah District information system. The program successfully raised awareness among village officials regarding the importance of administrative orderliness in delivering superior public services. Sustaining this program requires periodic digital mentoring to ensure consistent governance performance at the village level.
