Abstract

Indonesia as a tropical country has optimal humidity and temperature that are favorable for survival, larval growth, and disease transmission. One of them is dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). The use of chemical insecticides does provide effective and optimal results in eradicating disease-causing vectors. So that control is carried out with biological (vegetable) insecticides which are safer, simpler and environmentally friendly. One of the most effective plant-based insecticides against Aedes aegypti larvae is sugar apple or Annona squamosa L. which is effective as a stomach poison and contact poison because of its active ingredients, namely annonain and squamosin. This study aims to determine the effect of larvicidal infusion of srikaya seeds (Annona squamosa L.) on Aedes aegypti larvae. The object of this research is 40 larvae of Aedes aegypti instar IV. Aedes aegypti larvae were exposed to infusion of Annona squamosa L. seeds for 16 hours with well water as a negative control and abate as a positive control. Data analysis used regression analysis to determine the effect of infusion on larvae and probit analysis to determine LC50.The results of this study showed that the infusion of Annona squamosa L. seeds had a killing power of Aedes aegypti larvae of p=0.001 with a straight line equation Y=9.095+67.143X. Probit analysis showed that LC50. is 17%. Meanwhile, Annona squamosa L. seed infusion was not as effective as abate. Conclusion: The infusion of Annona squamosa L. seeds has the power to kill Aedes aegypti larvae, LC50. The concentration of Annona squamosa L. seed infusion to kill Aedes aegypti larvae after 16 hours of treatment was at a concentration of 17%, and abate was more effective than Annona squamosa L. seed infusion.

Abstract

Along with the increase in population, the need for drinking water is increasing. Refill drinking water depots are an alternative to meet air needs. Good quality drinking water does not contain E. coli and coliform bacteria. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was a relationship between gallon depot officers and the number of E.coli bacteria in drinking water at refill drinking water depots (DAMIU) in Umbulharjo and Kotagede districts, Yogyakarta. This study used an analytic observational method with a cross sectional research design. The total sample used is 32 with data collection techniques using a check list and research subjects are DAMIU officers. Data analysis in this study used the Fisher Exact Test. The results showed that the hygiene of DAMIU officers obtained 9 respondents (28.1%) had poor hygiene conditions, while 23 respondents (71.9%) had good hygiene conditions. The results of the statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.314, which means that there is no relationship between the hygiene of DAMIU officers and the number of E. coli bacteria in Umbulharjo District and Kotagede District, Yogyakarta in 2018. So people with poor hygiene do not necessarily increase the risk of the presence of E. coli bacteria. in drinking water as much as 0.391 times greater than people who have good sanitation hygiene. The conclusion of this research is that no correlation between the hygiene of gallon depot officers and the number of E. coli bacteria in refilled drinking water in Umbulharjo and Kotagede districts of Yogyakarta (p-value 0.314; RP=0.391; CI=0.096 – 1.591).

Abstract

Breastmilk (ASI) is the only perfect and best food for babies because it contains nutritional elements for optimal baby growth and development. However, there are several reasons why mothers do not exclusively breastfeed, such as not getting support from their husbands/families, stage, education which causes postpartum depression which hinders the lactation process. This study aims to conclude and examine the literature (examining the literature) whether the symptoms of depression in postpartum mothers are associated with breastfeeding. The method of the study using appraisal study using Joana Brigs Institute Critical Appraisal, and synthesis method using PEOS. Base search on studies published in English and present data for the period 2012-2019. Identified studies were reviewed using PRISMA Flowchart. A quantitative design study of postpartum depressive symptoms affects exclusive breastfeeding. The results showed postpartum depression was measured using the EPDS (Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale) which was performed on postpartum mothers aged 2-6 weeks postpartum. Depressive symptoms can affect the situation of offering breast milk and several factors due to emotional support, education, low income, a previous history of depression. But the worst thing that happens in postpartum depression is support from family. The conclusion was postpartum depressive symptoms can affect exclusive breast milk because there are hormonal and mood changes that occur in the mother such as lack of appetite, sleep disturbances, anxiety, sensitivity so that they can interfere with the smoothness of breast milk.

Abstract

Piyungan landfill is a waste final processing site that is still active now. Waste in the Piyungan landfill produces hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and ammonia (NH3) gases. The gas comes from the anaerobic decomposition of waste by microorganisms. The purpose of this study is to analyze the health risks of hydrogen sulfide and ammonia exposure in the community at Piyungan landfill. This study was descriptive research and used quantitative analysis. The research design was cross-sectional with the environmental health risk analysis approach. The research sample is the people of Ngablak hamlet, which live in a zone of ± 600 meters from the Piyungan landfill. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, and the sample size was 59 people. The results showed that the risk level (RQ) of hydrogen sulfide was 1.2163 (RQ > 1), while the ammonia level was 0.0203 (RQ ≤ 1). Based on these results, the level of risk due to exposure to hydrogen sulfide is said to be unsafe. However, exposure to ammonia is said to be safe or not at risk of causing health problems in the community. The research is expected to be useful for improving the waste management system at TPA Piyungan and public awareness of processing waste.

Abstract

Gunungkidul Regency received an elimination certificate in April 2014, but in 2019 there was one imported case, and it is possible that indigenous transmission may have the potential to occur. Gunungkidul is also a tourist area visited by many domestic tourists who can come from malaria endemic areas. This study aims to map the malaria receptive area to determine early warning measure to maintain malaria elimination status. The research method is quantitative with observational descriptive. The data was obtained from the mapping of the malaria receptive area of the Yogyakarta BBTKLPP in 2021 in the form of larval survey results and the capture of nocturnal adult mosquitoes. The location of the activity is at two points, namely Ngawis Village, Karangmojo District and Pacarejo Village, Semanu District, Gunungkidul Regency. The results showed that Ngawis Village and Pacarejo Village were malaria receptive areas because Anopheles sp. larvae were found with a habitat index of 20.7% and 3.3%, which exceeded the quality standard of the Minister of Health RI No. 50 of 2017 and the capture of the Anopheles mosquito as a potential malaria vector in residential areas. The identified species are An. vagus, An. aconitus, and An. maculatus. Conclusion Ngawis Village has a higher malaria receptivity compared to Pacarejo Village, with more diverse breeding places and more adult mosquitoes caught. Both villages need to make efforts to reduce breeding places and implement an early warning system against malaria.

Abstract

Health risks can occur if people live close to the landfill. This study aims to determine the health problems of the people who live around the Piyungan landfill. Using a purposive sampling technique, this study involved six participants who lived around the Piyungan garbage dump. The instrument used was a human instrument with interview guidelines, as well as observation and content analysis. The results showed that all participants worked as scavengers and experienced symptoms of health problems. Health complaints felt by all participants were headache, cough, runny nose and shortness of breath. While 83% felt a sore throat, 66% felt itchy skin, and 50% complained of nausea. Continuous contact with garbage gives a high risk of experiencing health problems. It is hoped that people who work as scavengers at the Piyungan landfill can increase efforts to reduce health impacts by carrying out clean and healthy living behaviours such as washing hands before and after eating, changing work clothes every day, and using personal protective equipment, especially masks when working to minimize harmful gases.
